May 2, 2014TommyJoJo posted a message on Minecraft Movie? If I had heard this before the Lego movie came out, i'd have alot of doubts and probably laugh in the face of whoever had said it to me. But seeing the success of the Lego movie I really think this could be a big success. The thought of a Game being made of a movie seemed absurd about 6 months ago, but after the success of the Lego movie and Need for Speed, this could be another in a long line of Gaming Movies.Posted in: News

Although it was effectively the rules, it was never actually enforced and I doubt it ever will be

My advice: Send him an email with his IP kindly saying that you'll turn the IP over to the FBI if anything happens, and something sinister like "I know many 7 year olds with life sentences for cyber crimes".
If something does happen, go ahead and turn the IP over to the FBI with the chat transcript.

Not many hosts actually apply the 18+ rule with employment, so you'll find many people employed who are 14-18. Sure if you startup a host yourself it would be nice to have your workers 18+, but there's just not enough 18+ people willing to work at a host when they can go out and get a "real job". You may also find that a younger person may be more qualified for a position than an 18+ person.

I think the time has come for a thread like this. The quantity of people making threads in this section titled "Looking for a job with a host" or "Hire me for your host" has shot up recently and the general replies have been the same. So I have decided to come up with a short thread for all people looking to enter employment in this industry.
Hosts in this industry give the service of providing and maintaining minecraft servers, it would therefore make sense for you to have some understanding of how minecraft servers work. Below is a list of day to day procedures operated within a host which an employee would be expected to fulfill.
Most often you will use WHMCS for answering client tickets. These are simple forms clients submit with queries like "I can't download a plugin". Simply download the plugin onto their server and reply with a friendly "We've installed the plugin on your server, have a great day!". Simple stuff.
A: Live chats take place in real time, replies between you and the user will take place every few seconds. Ticket systems are operated on a longer timeframe. A client submits a ticket, and maybe 15mins later one of the staff members see it and provide an answer.
- Have perfect English (Or whatever language the host primarily uses)
- Have knowledge of managing minecraft servers
- Know WHMCS (Other platforms are used but WHMCS is most common)
- Maturity, maturity, maturity.

Once you have found a host that is hiring whom you would like to work with, you will need to compile a CV/Resume. For a job "in real life" a lot of work is needed to complete your CV/Resume, however for jobs within this industry you won't need to go that far. Your CV/Resume should be in a .txt file that you can either send to hosts directly or copy/paste it into an email. It should contain:
To enter this industry as an employee you need to be a mature, experienced and sensible person. Know what you're doing, take it seriously, and you should have no problems in getting a job. And please, please, do not post threads on minecraftforum in search of a job at a host.

If you had a few worlds and plugins with 20 players constantly you would need the 4-5GB to eliminate all lag.

$20 on the average host would get you around 4-5GB of RAM, which would be able to run smoothly with 20 players online
You only need a fairly small bit of technical knowledge. You'll need to know FTP and how to use multicraft (there's tutorials on youtube)
As for maintenance, you could always find an experienced minecraft server admin who can take care of consol work for you (make sure you trust them)
Other notes: If you're in this for the money, there's very little chance you'll make a profit on a server. Communities are also hard to build. Make sure you have a solid server plan before you buy anything.
