I shouldn't have to cite common knowledge. EvilSeph quit and so did his other Bukkit counterpart, both stating they left for "circumstances outside of their control" which is politcal parlance for they didn't get along with other team members. Now, having that the Bukkit team had worked together for several years, it wasn't them. They WORKED, not sitting around all day.
I've been around since the beginning, my right to complain will NEVER be gone. What Notch promised people on /v/ will never be delivered.
Common knowlege? It is not common knowledge. If you can't cite a source, then you can't state it as fact.
I've wanted to do a screenshot journal for a while now, but I don't really have the diligence to stick with it, so I figured that I might as well do a UHC journal for a new minecraft world. So here's the rules I'll be playing by:
Rules:
Hardcore Mode: When I die, this journal ends
Natural Regeneration is off: The only way for me to regenerate health is with
potions and golden apples. Did I mention that I've never made a brewing stand?
Other than that, it'll just be a standard game, unless you guys have any suggestions.
Log 1: The Beginning
First thing I do after turning off natural regeneration is take a view of my surroundings.
Ugh, I hate Taiga biomes, time for a bit of a journey.
I climb to the top of a nearby hill, to get a view. I find out I'm wedged in a taiga between some extreme hills, some plains, and an ocean, none of which I'm particularly enthused about living in.
Hills:
Plains:
Ocean:
I'm going to go on a trek through the plains to see if I can find a more favorable location. I have to be quick though, cause the sun's directly above me, so it'll be setting soon.
Sweet, while travelling through the plains, I found pumpkins and rose bushes. I have the habit of collecting at least one of every flower I come across, so I grab them.
I also find some sheep in a Birch forest, so now I can make a bed.
Sadly, my trek to find a better biome doesn't go well. Through the plains, I hit another ocean and the sun is going down. I use what little sunlight is left to punch down an oak tree and dig a little hole in the wall to place a bed. My hunger is also starting to get a little low, so I hope that oak tree drops an apple. I'd hate for this journal to end because of starvation.
The oak tree didn't drop any apples, so I had to kill a pig for some porkchops. I then continued on my journey for a different biome. Another fruitless day. Nothing but plains and forests as far as the eye could see. When I heard of the temperature update for 1.7 I thought it was pretty cool. I don't anymore. I love exploring but this is ridiculous. Sundown comes and I'm back in a hole in the dirt.
Alright. I've journeyed for this long and it's still nothing but plains and forest. I'm seriously getting sick of this. Time for something a bit more adventurous.
Maybe by the next update, I'll have found somewhere to settle.
Log 2: Finally a Home
After sailing for what felt like forever, I finally found something interesting
This is the first time I've ever seen an Ice Spikes biome. The spikes actually go up quite a bit. Sadly, after a quick trip to the wiki, I find out I can't mine packed ice without Silk Touch, so no solid ice house. There is however a lot of snow....
After a few trips to a plains biome for some pork and about 6 wooden shovels, I have a little makeshift igloo to call home.
View from one of the Ice Spikes:
Inside View:
Now that I have a place to call home, I need a steady food supply. I'll start with some wheat so that later I can lure in some cows.
I dig out a small farm area below my igloo.
As soon as I can, I'll fill the middle troughs with water. I've left a few spots empty for when I get sand to plant some sugar cane.
Farm-to-be:
In order to get the buckets to fill my farm I'll need iron. For iron, I'll need a mine.
I decide to start a shaft inside one of the spikes. Just a basic vertical shaft to the diamond level. Along the way I found enough iron to make a bucket and an iron pickaxe.
As I went to go prepare my farm, I climb down the ladder and...
SURPRiSE ZOMBIE:
Needless to say, I put up more torches.
After preparing my farm, I begin to mine again. Y'know how they tell you not to mine straight down? I found out why:
I wasn't paying attention and next thing I know, I"m in a mineshaft. I immediately cobble tower my way out of it. I definitely want to explore it, but my health is getting low and I know the kinds of things that could be lurking in that shaft. I'm going to need to get a little more prepared...
Log 3: The End
You remember how I said at the end of the last log that I needed to prepare for the dangers of the mineshaft? Yeah, I completely ignored my own common sense. Found some gold and iron, got greedy and....
Yep. I was done in by a cave spider. So needless to say, I failed. It was fun though.
Starting Off [Restrictions: No tools above wood unless you find some or are dropped, sorry, but you're new to the world, you don't know whats what yet!]
You know that you're going to need to build a shelter of some sort, and make a weapon in case of an animal attack, you're also going to need food. There's a small note lying on the ground near you, you pick it up and it reads "Punch the trees! - Notch"
- Build yourself a small shack, or find a cave and make an area of it safe. You should have a crafting table, chest and
