posted a message on How to make vanilla survival fun again! (more difficulty)

I can totally relate to this. Well, not myself, but on many videos on YouTube of old Minecraft songs, there are people saying they miss how they used to feel in survival, so this idea would really be helpful to them.

In response to: When the Lava Glider stares at you, does it leave after a while?

Yes, they will. It won't be fair if you had to stand still forever.

In response to: How often do these mobs spawn?

Little more common than Ghasts. They aren't very common but not impossible to find either.

OK, but I think that it should be a little more common for them to stare at you. If they are so rare, and they only stare at you when you are still for over 6 seconds, then I think there should be a 100% chance for them to stare at you if you are still for over 6 seconds. Because I really like the concept of this since it's like in real life against other animals where they will find you and you will be dead still and not breathing, then finally the animal moves away and you are safe. IDK it seems like it just would make the Nether way more interesting and difficult. There is a problem if you get attacked by a Ghast when you are being stared down, but the ghast could end up hitting the Lava Glider instead of you due to poor accuracy, so it's balanced.

posted a message on Ugh really minecraft? probably never playing survival again

The only PROBLEM here is the 'your bed is missing or obstructed'. Honestly, why doesn't Minecraft just spawn you on top of your bed if there isn't room beside it, or spawn you where the bed was if it's been destroyed?

posted a message on Silk Sword

I read through the whole comments and have determined that I support this idea fully, except making animals drop more resources, since Looting already does this.

Getting a single spawn egg from a mob is NOT OP.

1: They can attack you as well, not just your enemies.

2: It's only one. It's not like you can spawn Wither Bosses or anything. Spawning a single Blaze inside someone's house is annoying, but it's easier just to use TNT, or set your own fire using flint & steel. Besides, mobs despawn anyway, so if you left these blazes, they'd just disappear.

3: The original poster has already stated that you can no longer edit spawners in survival.

I don't see how this would be OP.

Getting mob heads in survival is a 100% support for me, and so is getting blocks from golems. Maybe you could also get Soul Sand from Wither Bosses too (but still drop a Nether Star)? Either way, support. Mob heads should be a 2.5% chance to drop from mobs, like with Wither Skeletons.

posted a message on Water Bottles giving saturation
    Quote from Mastermined»

I'm pretty sure that the way hunger works in Minecraft is that your food bar will only start depleting if your saturation has depleted. If you can easily and infinitely refill that, and also keep stacking saturation since you can drink water even when you're full, you just end up breaking the entire system and making food mostly redundant, as you will never have to eat again because your saturation will never run out.

I didn't think about this. I'm sure there is a solution, I just haven't thought of it yet.
    ...
Ah yes. Water Bottles need to stop being infinitely refillable. An infinite water source could still pose a problem, but how likely are you to make an infinite water source when you're going out to fight mobs or going out mining?
They would stop being infinitely refillable simply by water bottles removing a water source when they are filled up. If you are holding multiple glass bottles and you right click a water source, then 3 of the bottles would be filled and be placed in your inventory as water bottles, but even if you only have 1 then the whole water block will still disappear.

I have to agree with everyone here on crafting your own lava spit. The Lava Spit was added because I didn't want lava shards to just be used for a new block and a furnace fuel. I'm not sure whether they should only have 2 uses, or have a different unique use.

You don't need the lava shards to have tons of uses. Just 2 uses is definitely enough; there are some things in Minecraft that don't even have a use.

posted a message on Ban Adfly links

    That's still no excuse.

No excuse for using AdFly links, you mean? The mod creators need money. Or AdFly having infected ads? Because the website can't control the people who put the ads up. That's why I suggested an automated virus check on any new ads that people have put on.

posted a message on New Snow Melt Gamerule.

I'm always up for new gamerules, and this is definitely a useful one.

    Quote from Mastermined»

Thinking if there's any existing gamerule this could be added to, but I can't really think of any. Are there other blocks that could be affected by this, to make the rule a bit more versatile?

Not that it's necessary, this is pretty good overall.

It could stop water from freezing to ice as well! It's so annoying when I place a water source very high up and it freezes, so I have to light it up but then the snow around melts, and sometimes it's inconvenient to place a torch up there due to lack of space to put it or whatnot. Definitely support.

posted a message on Water Bottles giving saturation

Many people have made suggestions for a Thirst Bar to make the game more realistic and to give a use to normal water bottles. Well that idea is infamous among members of the suggestions forum, so obviously I don't have that idea. However, I do want to make regular water bottles somewhat useful.

I think that drinking water bottles should give you saturation. This would be like when you give yourself more energy by getting hyrdrated, but in Minecraft; adding a separate thirst bar is a bad idea, but with this suggestion it would use a feature that is already implemented (saturation) and not really have to add anything (except the core idea of course).

"How much saturation should it give?"

I'm thinking around 3. Apples give 2.4, Baked Potatoes give 6, Cooked Porkchops give 12.8, and Golden Carrots give 14.4.

What do you guys think? Easy simple suggestion. If you prefer water bottles just being useless on their own but being the base of potions, then I understand, and you don't have to support. I think that everything in the game should be useful in some way.

EDIT: OK so Momlob and Mr_nevin brought a problem to my attention.

The solution to this problem would be this:

Water Bottles need to stop being infinitely refillable. An infinite water source could still pose a problem, but how likely are you to make an infinite water source when you're going out to fight mobs or going out mining?
They would stop being infinitely refillable simply by water bottles removing a water source when they are filled up. If you are holding multiple glass bottles and you right click a water source, then 3 of the bottles would be filled and be placed in your inventory as water bottles, but even if you only have 1 then the whole water block will still disappear.

I was planning this to be an addition in another suggestion I might make anyway, so this idea isn't purely for this little suggestion.

posted a message on Lava Gliders

The only thing I don't like is that you can make your own magma spit. Literally the only mob that ever drops anything that can be used directly against it is Skeletons with their arrows, and you need a bow for that. Blazes don't drop fireballs or anything that can craft throwable fireballs (fire charge can't be thrown directly from the player), and Ghast fireballs can't even be summoned at all from external sources like Dispensers. Other than that, I like this suggestion. When the Lava Glider stares at you, does it leave after a while? I'd hate to be standing there for 5 minutes and then realizing that I'd just have to kill it. It's a cool thing to be looking around a bit and then suddenly find something staring at you, making you dead still and scared for your life and narrowly escaping a fight which could kill you. I think this is too rare to happen though. How often do these mobs spawn?

posted a message on Ban Adfly links

I actually noticed that AdFly doesn't even allow ads with viruses, they just can't moderate all of the links to stop them from having viruses, unfortunately. My suggestion would not be to ban adfly links, but for AdFly itself to develop some sort of anti-virus system that removes ads containing them.

posted a message on Survival is by-far the best gamemode there is.

I'd say that building mansions is more fun in Creative Mode because there are no restrictions. If you're playing purely to build mansions, then Survival Mode is not by far the best gamemode there is, in my opinion. But if you enjoy building mansions after the satisfaction of getting all of the needed resources and the fun of exploring and killing mobs with the challenges of survival mode, then yes it's the best gamemode. I would honestly take amplified survival over Mineplex minigames, despite enjoying some of them.

posted a message on Ban Adfly links

I agree. Even using AdBlock doesn't work half the time; it blocks the ads that you see on the page leading up to the Skip Ad button, but then once you click on that, sometimes it just brings up a virus page anyway and doesn't even download the file.

However, with the site banned, how will modders make their money?

I think that AdFly itself needs to be changed so that the ad links are tested for viruses, and declined from being shown on the site if they do have viruses. I don't know how this would turn out though, or if it's even possible.
