    Are you playing the Java edition? If so, this is very odd. My villagers lower their prices all the time when I trade with them, however I never bothered to pay attention to how many trades I have to make or whether I have to trade with multiple villagers to make this happen. Not paying attention to what the trades are can be costly, however. Once I was merrily trading with a lot of villagers who had all lowered their prices until I noticed that one villager was charging me much more for a particular trade. Apparently the law of supply and demand also plays a role in pricing, so the price can go up for an article you trade too much even if you are popular in the village.

    I'm pretty sure the game is becoming more complex because the vast majority of users are eager for new content. I assume this because if it weren't the case, it would be cheaper for the manufacturer not to do any development work on the product.


    If you want to play an old version of the game, you are free to do so if you have the Java version. That is one of the major advantages of Java Minecraft for fans of older versions.

    Nitwits are valid villagers and if you kill them your popularity will drop. If you don't like them taking up space, you can lock them in a house somewhere. If you have a cruel streak you can fence them out of your village and let mobs kill them. Or create death traps.


    Since they are good breeders (heck they have nothing else to do, being jobless :-) ) you can use them to populate depopulated villages or new villages you create yourself.

    posted a message on Odd inconsistency in the game's choice of a destination portal in the Nether

    In the overworld (1.16.1) I created a new nether portal at an ocean monument which wasn't too far from an existing portal at a stronghold. I expected that these two portals would share one destination portal in the Nether because of their proximity to each other.


    The first time I went through the new ocean monument portal, I did end up at the stronghold's destination portal in the Nether (coords: 222 115 -244). But the second time I went through the new ocean monument portal, the game created a new portal in the Nether at 233 90 -410.


    Of course it is better to have two separate destination portals in the Nether and I had planned on manually making one if the game didn't create a separate portal, so all is good. I just found it odd that the game was inconsistent in this regard.

    posted a message on Can Wither Skeletons spawn outside of fortresses now?

    Since I posted the pics a month ago, I have experienced nothing out of the ordinary at my Nether Portal (biome: Nether Wastes). I go there regularly to collect lava from the nearby lava lake for my smelting station. Normally I only see zombified piglins, ghasts and the occasional piglin. Today I exited the stone shack around my portal and was accosted by 2 blazes and 2 skeletons. This is really strange. Although there is a fortress nearby, it is not really close. Maybe the distance is right at the limit of what the game considers to be fortress property.

    Have you considered updating your old world to 1.16 and just resetting the Nether? Anything you built in the Nether would be gone, but when you start a new world it‘s gone too.

    I saw another video tip about how to use the hopper trick in a bastion 1.16.2 to empty a single chest that is atop a gilded blackstone block without angering the piglins. Just place another chest next to it to turn it into a double chest, and place the hopper under the side that is not resting on gold.

    famcraft is a safe family server. It has extremely strict rules to protect kids. Unsupervised kids can easily break the rules and get banned for getting angry, moving blocks placed by someone else or even spamming chat with the same words over and over. So it is important to review all the rules laid out in the world spawning area.

    I saw a video yesterday about the latest snapshot and in the snapshot the chests in bastions are spawning on top of gilded blackstone blocks, so breaking the block under the chest in order to place a hopper angers the piglins. It seems like a roundabout way to prevent people from using hoppers to empty the chests without angering the piglins, but there may be programmatic reasons for it.


    I hadn't heard about the sneaking while not wearing armor trick. It doesn't seem very logical though.

    I was very lucky and got a librarian right away that had Fortune III. Sometimes it takes several in-game days to get the enchantment you want because there are only certain times of day when a villager will bond with a workstation. The trick is not to give up. In my case, I get sidetracked a lot. If I want a certain enchantment (like Fortune) and get something else which is good instead (like Feather Falling IV), I often decide that the enchantment I got is worth keeping and then I have to go get a new villager and lectern to continue my quest for the primary enchantment I wanted.

    In another thread someone mentioned that the hopper trick won‘t work in future. I have been lucky with my Nether shelter next to my portal and with my Nether travel hub because there are so many zombie piglins they scare the piglins away. Seldom have I had to wait until the coast is clear before opening one of my chests. Soulfire also helps to keep piglins at a safe distance. It really would be nice to have a real bartering system with the piglins though.

    Congratulations on having such a great memory. By all accounts Herobrine doesn‘t really exist, so I assume that the alternate explanations are true. Have you thought of asking your friend about it? Even if she was playing tricks on you she might be willing to own up now that years have passed.
