It stands to reason that they will develop the cross-platform version that they more fully 'own' into a massive cash crop, and leave "Minecraft 1" up to the ubernerds and modders... and I hope it stays that way.

I say make boats drop themselves (like a minecart) because it simulates 'capsizing' your boat. As far as the durability thing goes, minecarts don't have any durability issues, so why should boats?

Oh yeah, because fleshing out one of Minecraft's most poorly developed systems (combat) is just the easiest, inconsequential thing ever... lol

Yes, but due to oversight and/or programming constraints, if you place a weapon in your RIGHT hand with your left hand empty, you can use the other button to block, but if a weapon is in your LEFT hand and your right hand is empty, you can't.
It's fine if you're just dual wielding though... but then ironically you can't block at all... presumably for game balance reasons. -

Even without dual-wielding options, as a left-handed person I'd be glad to have the ability to make my character left-handed - a trait that is completely overlooked in... virtually every game I've ever played, since I can't think of any that allow you to be a lefty without penalty.
EDIT: Legend of Zelda... okay so there's one series where the main character is a southpaw. -

Just to clarify, World of Warcraft is no longer an example of a game with dedicated arrow inventory slots for archery. A couple years ago they removed ammunition (and its dedicated inventory/bag slots) from the game to improve the quality-of-life for Hunters, who previously had to dedicate huge amounts of bag space to hauling around sufficient amounts of ammo.

Dec 15, 2013Tkeleth posted a message on Saturday with Sach: Whats In a NameA couple of my friends and I tend to look for a word in a foreign language to use for a name, typically with some symbolic meaning. Mine is a phonetic spelling of the Hebrew word TKLT which approximately means the color blue, because I really like blue. So, yeah.Posted in: News
Everybody just calls me TK for short, because they can't spell/pronounce it, and that's fine. Heck, a couple of my friends call me TK in real life more than they use my name, so that's fine too. It identifies a conceptual part of who I am, and thus it is *my* name, in a sense. -
Aug 17, 2013Tkeleth posted a message on 1.7 Sneak Peek: Sunflowers, Falling ParticlesPosted in: NewsQuote from Fanatictekken
Really, I hope Jeb/Dinner reads this.
They have planned SO MANY cool features, like Red Dragon, Pandas, but when will we get them?
We willn't.
Their only focusing on some FLOWERS, instead of FINALLY making the MOBS. Minecraft is SO empty, NO nature animals, except bats. With nature I mean ambience and all that. Their just planning to add sunflowers. Nice thing, ok.... BUT THEY FACE EAST! The point? There isn't. Just click F3, Ta-da, it'll show wheres east, north and all that. Seriously, do we need this? No. Do we need falling particles? NO. Do we need more blocks and tons of mobs? YES Minecraft is SO BORIN that I don't even play it now. And their doing the work SO SLOW! Animations, all just so bad. Minecraft modders, make GIANT THINGS in 48 hours, what do Jeb and Mojang do in 2 months?
Add sunflowers.
Really?
Or the 1.6.2 update.
Few things, such as horses. So Mojang means that EVERY mob their going to add, will have it's own update! If their going to add a WORM mob, a tiny pixel, and coded in 2 minutes or 1, or even 30 seconds, they do a whole update for it.
Dear Jeb/Mojang, please, read this post, and start TRYING to make the game, instead of just playing it. I have seen their office videos, what does Jeb do? He isn't even on his table/computer. HE'S PLAYING PINBALL! START MAKING THE GAME, SO PEOPLE WOULD LIKE IT, INSTEAD OF DESTROYING THE GAME EVERY DAY!
Oh, and PS...
NOT a surprise, that Minecraft sale has slowed down. People wont buy it anymore, because it's ruined. When Minecraft first appeared, it got like 10 million sales, in a short time. Now, about a year have been, and we have now 11,5 million sales. Why? You know why.
Or X360 version. Why it got 4 million sales in a month, and then it stopped? Because that they noticed 4J is WAY too lazy to update it, and published it as a BETA, instead of the FULL version, and 1 update takes about 4 months.
Seriously, Mojang, 4J, man up and start the work.
Or I'm quitting Minecraft...
Why they are mad?
Because their adding SUNFLOWERS???? Instead of those majestic dragons and flying creatures flying around. People want Minecraft to be mystic, and cool, what we got?
Boring, ugly game.
Dear Mojang,
Please keep adding these things to the game so this guy will quit (although I doubt he'd stick to his word on the matter, considering he bothered to come complain on the forums). He's a shining example of everything that's wrong with the MC community at large. Every single thing added to the game doesn't need to be exponentially more awesome than the thing that came before it. Else, by the time Minecraft 1.9.1 rolls around, people will be complaining that their teleporting, fire-breathing, magic-shielded, armored, gilded, sorcerous Ether-Dragon summonable mount didn't get the ability to barrel roll.
Thanks,

Can someone tell me what lines in which file to edit to make my ice not look like this?
http://imgur.com/a/mGvVZ
I would be totally fine with just completely removing the reflection, and having the default ice texture... but this looks awful and none of the in-game settings will change it.
I have tried different texture packs, and this is with default textures, OptiFine, SEUS, no other mods.

Hey dude, I totally love this pack, but *personally* I think the obsidian has a little too much highlighting and is a little too bright - it looks to me like a bunch of little round shiny bits, and not a *block* of obsidian.
And the snow texture seems really like that hard, crunchy snow and not a nice smooth layer of snow.
That's just my opinion! Thanks for excellent work on an awesome pack. It's beautiful!

Anybody know how to adjust SEUS so that the End is playable? I have a bright blue sky and the land is very dark/shadowy.
Also, glowstone & lava are super bright... first time using SEUS and I don't know anything about it.

Any plans to add Leather Armor? lol

Okay I was just reading up on it, I didn't realize until just now that apparently it *always* does the sweep if you're standing still or moving very slow. Yeah I totally get that.

If you're trying to defend a village, it should be surrounded with walls and properly illuminated on the inside, not defended with swords at night.
If your friend walks in front of someone who is swinging a sword, they deserve to get hit.

It's almost like you might actually struggle to survive in... Survival. Wow.
Personally I found Survival combat so easy that the game wasn't challenging at all, there wasn't any strategy to combat besides 'chant up an excellent sword and spam until everything is dead. Not really that fun, IMO.

The firing rate could be limited exactly like a bow - hold the button to charge the staff, then release to fire. The longer you hold the button, the farther the projectile fires, out to some arbitrary maximum distance.
Maybe we could even make a type of ammo... diamond dust, perhaps?
Glowstone Dust + Gunpowder + Diamond = 8x Diamond Dust
Perhaps this would balance out the whole deal. Maybe instead of having the Infinity enchant for staves, they could instead get a 'splash' damage enchant. Nothing OP, maybe just normal damage on a direct hit and 1/2 heart in a 2-block radius or something.
This is just off the top of my head. I tried to keep it simple (we don't really need a completely new 'system' added to the game for this) and balanced.

It's definitely overpowered, but I don't mind. Alchemy and enchanting in general are OP - with a Smite 3 sword and strength and regeneration potions, you can basically 3 or 4 shot a Wither. I personally think that it's fine to have access to that kind of power for characters - you can still lose everything you're carrying if you die too far from home, or in lava, or the End. Redstone contraptions are effectively OP in regards to their ability to streamline necessary processes. Minecraft has always been what you make it, and for that reason, I personally just don't build mob grinders - feels like cheating. I do, however, build automatic farming systems for food - self-harvesting wheat farms, piston-powered auto-melon farms, auto chicken farms, etc. I don't build them every time I play, but I don't have a problem with them. If you think Fortune totally breaks the game, then just try to avoid using it - you could even go so far as to just enchant books so you don't waste 30 levels on a pick, end up with Fortune 3, and feel like it's wasted.
Minecraft has always been, in my opinion, about surviving and building - typically at the expense of game balance. I think it's because Minecraft has such a large audience of young players. Say, for example, the game launched and was Hardcore-only. I know my kids would get burned out VERY quick if they lost all their progress whenever they died on a new map, and probably wouldn't play the game at all... but there are plenty of people that would LOVE if Minecraft was Hardcore-only because it adds weight to every decision and the gameplay is *always* dangerous.
I really don't mean to sound like I'm ranting at you - I'm totally not. I've just been playing since Alpha and for me personally, every time patch notes come out, I am consistently impressed by every new iteration of the game. It is the creative flexibility that I love about MC, and the lack of tight balance in the gameplay doesn't bother me in the least.
I do wish, however, that, given the high level of power currently available to players, they would add another new boss mob that was ALLLLLLLLLLMOST impossible to defeat with only one player - only with the absolute best gear AND building preparation could a single player even have a hope of taking it down.

Furthermore I think the background content in the 3rd photo is the most visually interesting - there are a variety of shapes and textures, much more so than in the first photo. The second photo is very natural looking, but I'd definitely say #3 if you can only enter one into the contest.
Oh, and in the first photo, I think the fact that the snail's antenna?/feeler? thing on his right is coming toward the camera at an odd angle that sort of hides it from view kind of detracts a bit from the overall completeness or feeling of the image.
Good luck!
