posted a message on What's with the stereotype on 12 Year Olds?
    Quote from Lord_Axis

Alright, most of the time you have to not say your age on the internet if you are young. Let people determine who you are instead of them seeing you the wrong way. Considering half the internet follows the stereotype, you have to. Most kids aren't very mature than they think they are.

Considering that I didn't have a high enough education, thought whatever my parents fed me, and etc.... I don't think I was very smart. Everyone grows up some day, but those times I wasn't grown up. I didn't think for myself and it's natural since my mind hadn't matured enough to realize what they were feeding me.

Oh, another stereotype slave? Because half of these people follow it? And you also seem to believe it, although you admit it's a stereotype. Interesting. I'll follow the other half, thank you. You don't need a stellar education to be mature, by the way.

You know that weekend in science class when your teacher talked about how when you hit somthing like graphite against steel the graphite would break off, or chip. Well when you would say take a diamond pickaxe to a stone block, rock flies of but, when you hit bedrock why does the bedrock chip off and not the diamond from the pick?
    Anyone ever thought about that?

What, are you suggesting an actual physics engine be added?

    Quote from SemperAltus

Lots of discrimination from the internet when they find out a user is 12-13 years old.

*braces self for videos and pics*

But in reality, there are mature 12-13 year olds out there, albeit very very rare, and it's sorta painful to receive that kind of treatment.

Correct yourself, author. Very, very rare!? Now, those who actually agree with this are arrogant.

Someone said that you'd understand when you grow up. How mature, Mr. Hippocratic. Another person whines about kids spamming. We are all glad you took the time to whine to prove how immature kids are. Someone said it's better if you keep your age quiet. Really? Just to avoid people's idiotic perception? I don't think so. No one would have guessed I'm a kid, don't lie to yourself, and when that's the truth, then it's still a problem, and will continue to be, apparently. Nice job, you adults out there who were rude. What a great example you've been. Ask yourself this. Looking into your childhood, do you think you were stupid then? If the answer is yes, than that's your fault.

Kids can teach you. They will. This is coming from a kid. We are more mature than you'd think. But some of you probably don't want to believe it. You want to feel higher? Better? This isn't a challenge, you people out there anxious to attack the next defensive post.

That's all, folks. I'm glad if I taught anyone anything. I'll be here waiting for a post saying I didn't, because it's probably inevitable.

posted a message on dragon eggs and npc battles
    Quote from Patrick B

i was thinking it would be really cool if you could find dragon eggs. they would be extremely rare, 3x rarer than golden apples but if you found one they would hatch and you would need to feed them pork untill they grew strong and big enough for you to ride them. once you could ride thm you could control were they go and get them to attack things.
    1) you would find the eggs in dungeons or stonghold
2)you place the down as a block and it will hatch over time no ellements or animals can harm the egg block.
3)you will not find the eggs in the wild. the eggs are ancient and dragons will not be generated
4)they would look similar to the mo' creatures dragon
    5) you must have a saddle to ride them
6)it will ahve the same attack as a diamond sword and twice as many hearts as you.
7)this is just an idea notch will have to decide whether its worth his time or not

also i think it would be cool if when you angered npc villages they would muster up an army and attack your main base, forcing you to defend. please comment and tell me anythings that would make it better! thanks!

Welcome to the forum of WoW addicts who still want dragons for some reason! :tongue.gif:

posted a message on New ores? Sounds fantastic!
    Quote from Smithite

Honestly, I think notch should add some new ores, going into a cave and finding the same ores and dungeons over and over is pretty boring. I love Minecraft, and I know that in 1.8 there is going to most likely be new dungeons but with new weapons and everything the game would be so much better to play. Also, it would be fascinating to see weapons or items that soully effected one type of mob, but with critical damage.

Er.. where did you ever here Notch say anything about new weapons? Critical hits would depend on the way you attack, for example, from above. And please, I hope these critical hits don't mean those idiotic floating numbers from the creature's bodies.

posted a message on My Opinions on Guns In Minecraft
    Quote from Bladgrim

Yes, I fully do get your point, and I knew it previously, as well. I was just saying that because there's gunpowder, there doesn't need to be guns.

The fact is, Minecraft is sort of a Hybrid between eras/genres. It has higher tech stuff such as TnT and mine-carts, yet the game world is a medieval/fantasy world, with strange, fantastical creatures, medieval weapons, magical red stones (yes, I know they act as circuitry, but the actual idea of "Redstone" as it appears in the game can only be magical, IMO), etc.

Due to the fact that most of the game world is medieval/fantasy themed, I personally cannot see guns in it. The reason I can accept things such as TNT and Minecarts is that it still feels like a medieval/fantasy game. If guns were added, it would truly feel like a different genre to me, and I believe that Notch feels similarly.

I think you've been playing too much WoW. I don't like to think of Minecraft of fantasy. It's a survival game, set in a mysterious, open world. Sorry, but I doubt Notch ever wanted Minecraft to be a fantasy game. A blade, a "medieval weapon", as you say, wouldn't that still be a survival asset in any era? And redstone is approached as a mechanical aid, it's activated by a power source, not in any magical way.

If you want to convince yourself that Minecraft was meant as a fantasy game, then that's fine. Minecraft is timeless. It is not chained by any genre or era to explore possibilities. It should stay that way. Guns could be added. Guns would also be a real survival asset. To balance the argument on making bows obsolete, simply have it hinder you in some ways, such as resource efficiency, for example, make an iron ingot make 4 musket shots. A reload time of maybe 8 seconds, etc. Many ideas can be great, but only if done right.

Yes, Bladgrim, it's probably a bias. And actual TNT, not the beginning "primitive" explosives you describe, is era's more modern than what you speak of, note in the game it's labeled "TNT", or "trinitrotoluene". Judging from it's name, you probably get my point. If TNT is added, than so can simple gunpowder weapons, like a flintlock or blunderbuss.

posted a message on My Opinions on Guns In Minecraft
    Quote from TheBiggestPig

A lot of people have recently been using SDK's weapons mod. I like modern first person shooters as much as the next guy, but I think Minecraft has more of a medieval feel. I feel like a fully auto weapon is just out of place with swords and bows. Guns can be a fun thing in Minecraft, and maybe I would even endorse them if they were made as early weapons, such and muskets and et cetera. I just think the modern guns are too "in the new", for this old school type game. Again, this is my opinion. I'm not trying to change yours, just putting my input out there.

And if you appreciate my input remember to +rep, thanks!

Minecraft isn't necessarily "medieval". "Survivalist" is a better term. Not an era. The reason that we have bows is because it's a practical tool you might make if you had to survive.

Let's see... everyone is fine with a red box of dynamite labeled "TNT", but when even things that make sense are suggested, like a blunderbuss, or flintlock, it's treated like some sort of heresy. It's weird how some people think. They are ZOMBIE SLAVES! It's a perfect idea because Notch added it and said it's okay!? Give me a break. He may be a genius, but he's not perfect (not that I have a problem with TNT).

    Quote from pikachu777

Maybe they would only attack when provoked, and were horrible warriors. Like, if you raided their farms they would try to kill you, I guess.

You want them to be horrible warriors? Why? So you can get their stuff easily? Pfft.

When you raid them, the whole town should get at you with at least wooden swords and bows. NPCs should not make it a whole new level of easy for you. Raiding, destroying their homes, taking over a town should not be close to easy. If you decide to be nice and trade with a town, that town will be nice to you and not hunt you down for the rest of your Minecraft life.
