I'm pretty sure the people who made Elders Scrolls just hate Minecraft and are trying to shut them down.
No, not at all. It's just inevitable that with an army of money-grubbing lawyers, you will become more than one person's problem, and will continue to be. -

You can't copyright single words but you can trademark them individually if they are part of a trademarked IP. And it's not about using the word in common language, it's about using the word as title of a franchise in the same entertainment medium. That is where the claim becomes legitimate.
Well said. Now stop mocking them by saying that you'll say the word over and over again, etc., because that's not the point.
But it's nice to see how zealously people are defending Mojang. This has my full approval.
(Except for "F U BETHESDA U NOT LEIK NOTCH!!!". I doubt that could ever convince Bethesda otherwise or shame them.) -

This is about as bad as when Apple tried to sue Amazon.com for using the term "App Store."
Well, "App Store" could mean either "App Store" or "Apple Store". -

I should copyright the word 'the', then I can sure every book, movie, and video game using that word. Kidding, kidding.
Trademark, you mean. You can't copyright a word. Otherwise, people could go aro
und copyrighting, and in effect, tabooing words for use anywhere on anything without consent. Imagine a world like that. -

Lawyers who represent Bethesda. Not much of a difference, if any.
The thing is, Bethesda probably has an army of lawyers. Mojang has what, one? You can probably see where a war between the two would go.
Anyway, however it goes, a Bethesda boycott wouldn't be a bad idea, at least until the conflict is solved. -

On a side note, unless this is SMP, then this picture proves that the NPC villages will be filled with Humans.
Haha, you wish, bud!
Pigmen are the ones that will have villages, not humans. Humans would complicate things, from aesthetics, (they would all look the same) to code (A whole new level of AI intelligence would have to be introduced). -

He might not know why he hates them. Or he was joking. Or he doesn't know how to use them because all he's had before is a computer, and he can't adapt to anything else. :tongue.gif: - To post a comment, please login.

Oh, another stereotype slave? Because half of these people follow it? And you also seem to believe it, although you admit it's a stereotype. Interesting. I'll follow the other half, thank you. You don't need a stellar education to be mature, by the way.

What, are you suggesting an actual physics engine be added?

Correct yourself, author. Very, very rare!? Now, those who actually agree with this are arrogant.
Someone said that you'd understand when you grow up. How mature, Mr. Hippocratic. Another person whines about kids spamming. We are all glad you took the time to whine to prove how immature kids are. Someone said it's better if you keep your age quiet. Really? Just to avoid people's idiotic perception? I don't think so. No one would have guessed I'm a kid, don't lie to yourself, and when that's the truth, then it's still a problem, and will continue to be, apparently. Nice job, you adults out there who were rude. What a great example you've been. Ask yourself this. Looking into your childhood, do you think you were stupid then? If the answer is yes, than that's your fault.
Kids can teach you. They will. This is coming from a kid. We are more mature than you'd think. But some of you probably don't want to believe it. You want to feel higher? Better? This isn't a challenge, you people out there anxious to attack the next defensive post.
That's all, folks. I'm glad if I taught anyone anything. I'll be here waiting for a post saying I didn't, because it's probably inevitable.

Welcome to the forum of WoW addicts who still want dragons for some reason! :tongue.gif:

Er.. where did you ever here Notch say anything about new weapons? Critical hits would depend on the way you attack, for example, from above. And please, I hope these critical hits don't mean those idiotic floating numbers from the creature's bodies.

I think you've been playing too much WoW. I don't like to think of Minecraft of fantasy. It's a survival game, set in a mysterious, open world. Sorry, but I doubt Notch ever wanted Minecraft to be a fantasy game. A blade, a "medieval weapon", as you say, wouldn't that still be a survival asset in any era? And redstone is approached as a mechanical aid, it's activated by a power source, not in any magical way.
If you want to convince yourself that Minecraft was meant as a fantasy game, then that's fine. Minecraft is timeless. It is not chained by any genre or era to explore possibilities. It should stay that way. Guns could be added. Guns would also be a real survival asset. To balance the argument on making bows obsolete, simply have it hinder you in some ways, such as resource efficiency, for example, make an iron ingot make 4 musket shots. A reload time of maybe 8 seconds, etc. Many ideas can be great, but only if done right.

Minecraft isn't necessarily "medieval". "Survivalist" is a better term. Not an era. The reason that we have bows is because it's a practical tool you might make if you had to survive.
Let's see... everyone is fine with a red box of dynamite labeled "TNT", but when even things that make sense are suggested, like a blunderbuss, or flintlock, it's treated like some sort of heresy. It's weird how some people think. They are ZOMBIE SLAVES! It's a perfect idea because Notch added it and said it's okay!? Give me a break. He may be a genius, but he's not perfect (not that I have a problem with TNT).

You've played too many RPGs. You seem to want to live on nothing but potions...

You want them to be horrible warriors? Why? So you can get their stuff easily? Pfft.
When you raid them, the whole town should get at you with at least wooden swords and bows. NPCs should not make it a whole new level of easy for you. Raiding, destroying their homes, taking over a town should not be close to easy. If you decide to be nice and trade with a town, that town will be nice to you and not hunt you down for the rest of your Minecraft life.
