So, I have reinstalled Xubuntu 12.04 on my laptop and it is working fine, but Minecraft is not. After I login, it shows the Mojang logo, and then the title/menu screen but then it freezes and I can't click in any button of the menu.
I had Minecraft working before in this same laptop.
I have tried to:
- Use Java from both Oracle OpenJDK
- Reinstall Java
- Update lwjgl
- Delete ~/.minecraft folder
but nothing worked.
I have no mods installed. I can see nothing wrong in the terminal output:
$ java -Xmx1024M -Xms512M -cp minecraft.jar net.minecraft.LauncherFrame

A desert island or uninhabited island is an island that has yet to be (or is not currently) populated by humans.
[...]
In the phrase "desert island," the adjective "desert" connotes a "desolate and sparsely occupied or unoccupied" area and does not imply that the island was previously inhabited and later deserted.[1] The term "desert island" therefore typically refers to an undiscovered island.[2]

What Java are you using?
I have tried it using both Oracle Java and OpenJDK, using default LWJGL and updated LWJGL, but

a desert island is not what you think it is. a desert island is a uninhabited island. it does not have to have sand.

No, it has a purpose. The purpose is to obstruct your vision.
