From now on, I will be releasing roughly 1 screenshot per day (although I might miss days here and there) previewing the revamped map. However, I will not be explaining what each picture is. You will have to take from it what you want.

What could this strange box be? And is that Challenge 1 I see in the background???

Its a great Map and i would like to see more Parkour maps of you!

    Well, good work!

The map is absolutely amazing! One of my favourite parkour maps, please please continue with it! The revamped design sounds epic and I would love to see a nice balance between classic parkour and original parkour.

Thanks Guys. In case you are wondering, I have been working slowly but surely on the revamped series (its been a bit of a pain combining everything into one map). I have gotten settled into college and with a fresh shoulder injury keeping me out of tennis, I will have plenty of time the next few months to work on this. Thanks for your continued support.

I am definitely going to continue to keep this going.

I understand I shut down the series months ago, but if anybody is interested, it is up and running again.

Visit the map thread to download Challenge 13: Asteroid Cloud.

Kickstart probably won't be that successful given most people have gotten over the map but might as well give it a shot.

any feedback on challenge 13 would be greatly appreciated...

do you like it more when i include little gimmicks and references such as the storyline in challenge 13?

do you like innovative and original challenges like challenge 13 or would you prefer a mix of original and classic parkour challenges?

somebody give me some feeback :)

As I am getting back into the swing of things, I have decided to polish off Challenge 13.

I might choose to release it as a small bonus content before combining everything into one massive map.

It has a difficulty rating of Hard, 12 challenges, and a rather nifty backstory referencing a famous song...

Most of you will understand which song, when you play the map.

I will most likely be making a trailer in the next day or so as well.

    Hello again!

As uncertain as I may have seemed yesterday, I am warming up to the idea of revamping this series once more.

I have learned a few tricks with mcedit, that might make for some better backdrops/scenery in the future.

In addition I have finally successfully installed worldedit and spc for 1.6.2

I just played through what was a prototype for Challenge 13 just now and it made me want to start building again. I think challenge 13 is my most polished design to date despite it missing certain directional signs and other very minor things. The only problem to solve is falling out of the world. Seeing as Challenge 13 is named Asteroid Cloud, it takes place above the void.

I was planning on using tripping wire to teleport players back to the checkpoint hub if they were to fall (which should happen quite a bit). However, the way I measured the challenge, it would require trip wires that are 220 blocks apart. As most of you know, this blows away the 40 block limit. Now I could always make several 40 blocks sections of trip wire, but that would leave rows of blocks exposed... which you could fall on and die. That being said... I think I have a good idea.

Now for the fun part of this post... planned inclusions in the revamped series...

As I've stated above, I would be combining all challenges into one map... just spaced apart to give each domain, it's unique feel.

I've picked the challenges that I feel were well designed to include in the revamped map...

LIST OF DOMAINS (to be updated)

    Domain of Basic Training
    - Basic Training

    Domain of the Jungle
    - Green Facility
    - Jungle Ruins
    - Control Tower

    Desert Domain
    - Buried Catacombs

    Galaxy Domain
    - Asteroid Cloud

    NetherWorld
    - no challenges yet

    FantasyLand
    - no challenges yet

    Ice Age
    - no challenges yet

    Aquatic Domain
    - no challenges yet

    Domain of the Sky
    - no challenges yet

    Utopian Metropolis
    - no challenges yet

Now this all looks great and exciting to me, but I'm not going to make maps for myself.
I am only going to do this if enough people want me to.

Show your support (or maybe protest  ) for this series!!!

    Community Question time!

What is your general hotbar layout? I know this has been asked numerous times in Vechs' thread, and maybe once or twice here, but it's always fun to share again. :P

    Mine is:
    1. Sword/Primary Weapon
    2. Bow
    3. Pick
    4. Food
    5. Blocks
    6. Potion (Regen/Health)
    7. Potion (Something special like speed, energy drink, etc.)
    8. Ender pearl(s)
    9. Torches (Easy to switch between sword and torches)

    1. Sword
    2. Torches
    3. Pickaxe
    4. Bow
    5. Blocks
    6. Secondary Blocks or Misc. Item
    7. Secondary Weapon (not bow)
    8. Secondary Food or Glowstone
    9. Food

Not sure why I dont carry potions on my hotbar... I usually use them in planned scenarios. In my case, if I were to use them as emergency help, I'd probably already be screwed.

    Hello Everybody.

I've been away for quite some time now (I believe it's been roughly 4 months)... and have recently during the past week had some time to fiddle around with minecraft again.

I am sorry for dropping this project so suddenly after the Desert Domain release. A combination of the tennis season along with working at a summer camp prevented me from having any time for working on this project. That being said... I have a sense that I might have some more free time coming up in the next 6 or 7 months...

I will try to update you all on where I stand about possibly continuing this series.

However, I am relatively hopeful at the moment.

In order to start getting back into the swing of things, I'd like to ask you all a question...

If I were to revamp this series, I might choose to combine everything into one map, eliminating all the bad challenges, and continue with everything on one map using teleportation to take the player from domain to domain.

This way, I can add challenges to whichever domain I choose in whatever order I choose. For example, it became a bit of a hassle creating 6 challenges in a row in the desert domain... because they were all desert themed sort of......

I would prefer to revamp the series with a challenge or two from each existing domain (including Galaxy Domain) and work from there to provide new challenges across different themes wherever I feel like building.

This would also allow me to open up a wider variety of domains.

    It's up to you guys...

If I continue this series (and that's a BIG 'if' at the moment) would you prefer that I start releasing challenges like I just described? Or continue with my previous method of building (don't take into account that option 1 is more fun for me).

Thank You and hopefully I will be able to begin releasing new content around mid-September.....

    Hello everybody.

After a couple days of consideration, I've decided to suspend this project until further notice. I simply do not have the time available to devote to this project, with tennis season, college preparations, etc. Having to make that contest the other day made me realize that if I originally decided that this would definitely be a solo thing that is mine, and I'm asking for help, then I need to suspend this until I have ample free time again.

I will keep this thread updated occasionally, and when I decide to continue making domains, I will make an announcement. Thank you everybody for your support throughout the process of the three current domains. Hopefully, when I reboot this series, you will all be there to enjoy it.

I have been very hesitant to do something of this nature, but I feel it is necessary in order for me to finish this domain before the school year ends (given that tennis season has started).

I have confirmed ideas for challenges 14 and 15 (and i might throw in another facility similar to basic training or green facility). However, I think it would be great to get one lucky community member involved in this project to take a bit of the burden off me.

    YOUR JOB:
    Create a challenge

    REQUIREMENTS:
Must have AT LEAST 12 stages.
Must not require any walking on ground (this is in outer space after all...)
Must not rank harder than Very Hard
Must have a relatively realistic theme for this domain... so do not send me a massive tree or something. that doesn't belong in space...
    Must have a checkpoint system

HOW I WILL PICK THE WINNER:
I will be evaluating challenges based on some critical attributes:
-Flow (not a pain to get from challenge to challenge or to get back to the beginning of a challenge after falling)
-Consistency (in terms of both difficulty and theme... nothing frustrates players more than finding an unusually hard stage in a Medium challenge... also you should stick to one parkour theme like how glass panes were the theme in the green facility).
-Size/Scope/Scenery (a bunch of floating blocks won't cut it... i need to see some effort)
-Creativity (this is where the bulk of the evaluation comes... be inventive. try to do something that is new and refreshing... im not the only one with great ideas out there (neither is tetrix or other famous parkour map creators)

    HOW TO SUBMIT YOUR CHALLENGES:
Simply PM me with the link to download your challenge. You will have to create the challenge in a fresh map. How you format it is up to you, but I will ONLY be copying the challenge. Nothing else.
You will be notified if your challenge wins, and will be given credit in the official map upon release.

    BONUS:
If anybody could please tell me if there is a way to quickly copy and paste the winning challenge into my world, you will receive the finished domain 48 hours before the official release.

    Good Luck!

Challenge 13 is complete in terms of the parkour elements.
It is rather basic in that it is pretty much all block jumping, however, you are always under the influence of Speed II, JumpBoost II, and Resistance II from beacons. There is a bit of very basic ladder parkour (and some intermediate in the last stage), but the challenge consists of mostly block jumping.

It is 12 stages and I have not calculated the difficulty yet although I expect it to be roughly Medium, Medium+, or maybe Hard (but probably not).
It seems that a few of you would like to see more lenient challenges, so this domain will have less harsh/punishing challenges, and more adventurous, fun challenges. There will probably only be one challenge that is Very Hard or higher (not including the final challenge).

I will be making a Challenge 13 trailer in the next day or two once I have the warps set up.
