There has never been any reason to go far away from spawn (or your 'home base' if your spawn was no good). Pretty much every resource besides the ores and minerals can get easily generated, and only diamond has the distinction of being rare enough to have the possibility of needed to move away from your comfort zone (after a long period of heavy mining).
I use a laptop, and these things happen when I run out of power or my laptop charger's wire goes loose.
It's not a computer problem, as my laptop's specs are actually very good.
That is a computer problem, and it's only your problem to fix. Especially when you know exactly what the problem is.
Mojang can't fix your power cable, Mojang can't fix you letting your computer run out of power. Data corruption can easily occur when your PC is in the middle of writing data to the disk, this is has nothing to do with Minecraft.
The onus falls upon the user to make sure their computer is working properly.
Here's the thing. Minecraft is not in Alpha or Beta stage anymore. These are when you would expect frequent changes and updates - they are the periods when a game is in development. Now that it's full release, it makes sense that there would be a decline in updates. You don't hear about, I dunno, Skyrim or RuneScape being updated every couple of weeks, do you? That's because they're in the full release stage, where it is a bona fide game, not a game in development.
Minecraft is a completely different beast than, say, Skyrim (which has pretty much been updating every couple weeks, btw). It is no where near a 'completed' game, hell, I'm confident most would agree it shouldn't even be out of beta.
Minecraft will be in development for a long time, my friend.
I am just not liking the full release. It should have been like alpha when this game had potential. I think it started falling when notch started using user mods to update the game...

So, as the title suggests, what is your take on the pre-releases? Personally, I don't think they are needed. It is nothing more than a hassle. We can just wait for the official updates/patches.

It's there so you know exactly what block you're pointing at and will therefore affect. Something like this would be impossible to remove without a mod.

The entire point of having a sticky is to keep important information at the top so everyone can see it. Understandably when people ignore the stickies and post new threads that simultaneously contain already known information and push down other threads other users will get annoyed.
