How did you hear about The Sanctuary SMP community? If it's from a friend, who do you already know?
I found you guys on the front page of the MinecraftForum PC servers! I'm afraid I don't know anyone, but I'm hoping to make some new friends if I am able to join
What is your favorite/preferred base/building style?
It's probably a bit of a cliché but I do love medieval, though I'm determined to try to experiment more with medieval-adjacent styles like fantasy or Viking! I love building up a lot of medium-sized things to make a base that feels more like a village rather than just one huge mega-build. I also love building with others and matching their style, I think it's a really fun challenge and pushes me to improve.
What aspect of vanilla gameplay draws you towards SMP?
Full disclosure, I first started playing Minecraft on a terrible old laptop, and went from there to a Macbook Air, so most of my time playing has been on computers that just can't handle mods! I've had a proper gaming PC for about a year now though, and I've discovered I just prefer the familiarity of Vanilla. I get a bit overwhelmed with the amount of choice and possibility in modded, and I also kind of miss the grind of it. In terms of SMPs specifically, I honestly just get bored playing by myself. There are aspects of the game I'm not so good at (redstone farms especially, though I'm trying to get better!) and it's really nice to be able to swap strengths with others and focus on what I love best. I'd love to find a friendly community where I can really make some friends and settle into a comfortable groove, contribute to some community projects, and set up a little space for myself somewhere cosy.
Do you have any experience with Minecraft communities?
I've been on a few SMPs over the years, but sadly most have fizzled out due to low player counts or player inactivity. I've always really enjoyed the collaborative nature of them, and I love being able to get involved with community games or projects.
Outside of Minecraft, what kinds of activities/hobbies do you enjoy?
I'm currently planning my wedding, which feels like it should be a full-time job to be honest! I also love creative writing (I'm working on a novel) and I picked up crochet during lockdown last year, which I'm terrible at – but I have a lot of fun with it anyway. Lastly I'm trying to get fitter and healthier having always hated exercise, so attempting to work out in some form a few times a week. Can't say I'm enjoying it yet, but I'm sure I will... eventually...

Why you want to play on Allimore: I've been away from Minecraft for a while and would love the chance to get involved again with a server like this. The established town system and chance to be part of a community (with the option to start my own thing too) just sounds absolutely perfect!

I'm a Journalism graduate and recently completed a Creative Writing MA (yep, I'll never get a real job). I've attended three different British universities so have more experience being drunk than I like to admit. Oh, and I'm a girl - most people assume I'm a boy so should probably mention that!
How active will you be?: I'm not going to lie and say I'll be on every day, as I have a fair amount of commitments, but I like to play at least 4 times a week and usually a good few hours when I am on.
Have you ever been banned from a private server?: Nope.
What do you think you can bring to the server? I'm a decent builder who likes to try out different styles (though I usually end up going mediaeval/rustic with a looottt of wood). I also like to explore, though I'm a wuss when it comes to fighting mobs so tend to point other players in the direction of things like ocean monuments. Generally I just like to help build a community, whether that's helping construct a spawn village, collecting resources or just being friendly.

I can't find specific instructions on getting NPCs to give an item to players that click on them - I've combed Google, reddit, the Bukkit and Minecraftforum forums and all tutorials/instructions only go as far as showing you how to add a general command. Which is great, but I'm stuck with how to create a specific command!
If you know of a page with this kind of instruction/info I'd really appreciate a link.
Hey folks. I'm currently creating NPCs for a new server using Citizens 2, and we need one of these NPCs to talk to new players to offer them a specific item needed for gameplay if they talk to him at the Spawn Hub.
I'm fine with getting him to talk when the player is within a 2 block range and all the basics such as having him wander around, look at players, and cycle through different chat options.
The problem is that we'd like it so that he talks ONLY to the player who has approached him and not in the general chat/to everyone nearby as that will be horrendously spammy once we open. I've gone through the Citizens wiki and can't find any solution to this. Alternatively I'd like to set him so you have to click on him to get him to talk, but I can't find how to do this anywhere I've looked. Sorry if it's really obvious and I've been blind - I'm happy to read through any links you have that tell me how rather than asking you to explain it.
I've seen the CommandNPC plugin recommended as a solution for a similar problem - would we need to install this to make this happen? And/or are there any plugins you can recommend to help with the direct/individual talking and giving the player an item following the conversation?

I haven't properly played on a server before, just hopped into a couple over the last couple of days but they were full of people bragging about their builds and/or griefing each other, so no thank you. I'd really like to get involved with a small group to help build up a world as I love building, but I'm really bored of doing it by myself! I love your chilled attitude and the small-group vibe.
As for why you might like to let me in - hopefully I'm a decent person, somewhat funny, like chatting to other players, I think an improving builder, and I promise to learn fast so my lack of experience on servers doesn't hold me back!
