The screenshot on the right side looks like it still kind of has a medium tint in the corners away from the torch. But, along the horizontal and vertical planes is where the tint is completely lost.

So, this raises a question for me. In the OptiFine settings in Minecraft, do you have "Smooth Lighting" set to maximum or something else?

Curious if the problem is only because Smooth Lighting isn't at max in the screenshot on the right. I know this type of stuff can occur when it's not at maximum. Worth a quick look to double-check.

If you do have Smooth Lighting set to maximum already, this could possibly be an indication that custom colors are not applying to smooth lighting.

I have the same problem and that workaround seems to work for me, thanks.

Can you guys try something for me? Download and install CCLeaner and run its "Registry" cleaner. While you're at it, go ahead and run its "Windows" and "Applications" cleaners too.

We found an existing bug report with IPS that describes half the problem.
    http://community.inv...885#entry137885

A permissions issue with how the automated task fires causes the notifications not to be sent. This is slated to be fixed in a future release.

The second part of the issue is not being able to resubscribe or unsubscribe. We are looking into that.

Thank you for the nice update!

Now, add an option to also change the MOD FOLDER that holds the modloader mods for a particular jar and this would be good. Like the mods for v 1.1 to be loaded with my 1.1 jar.

ModLoader mods can be loaded internally instead of having to be loaded externally (being placed in the mods folder).

Remove them from that mods folder and add them to the list of internal mods AFTER ModLoader and you'll be good to go.

Again, this error occurs for me with a completely fresh Minecraft installation.

    1. I haven't even clicked the texture pack button
    2. The bug manifests with a freshly downloaded bin directory.
    3. META-INF has, of course, been deleted (I'd not be able to get in game if it hadn't).
4-7. This bug manifests with no other mods installed, all I've got installed is Optifine.
    8. Optifine was installed to the minecraft.jar file.

Expected behavior: I start a new world, and can see the landscape and mobs.
Observed behavior: I start a new world, and all I can see is a white fog. Terrain edges are discernible, as they are more opaque than the sky. Mobs appear below me as white silhouettes. I go to Video Settings, and see that render distance is set to "Render Distance: Tiny +-32" (that's not a typo, it actually reads "Tiny +-32").

I assume that "Tiny" render distance is 32 blocks, so my current render distance is "Tiny" (32) + (-32), or 0 blocks. Of course, this is easily fixed by just changing the render distance. Closing and reopening minecraft also fixes my render distance (it gets set to "Tiny").

I'll happily test against a Block ID Resolver mod. I'm not able to find a version for 1.2.5, so if someone can point me towards that I'll do the test and post my results. I'll be very surprised if adding a (seemingly) unrelated mod suppresses the errors.

    Weird.

Well, a Block ID Resolver mod shouldn't really help in this case since you're using ONLY OptiFine.

I did a quick search through the thread trying to find your system specifications again but couldn't find it.

I don't remember if you're on Linux. If so, disable the "Open GL" setting in the OptiFine settings in Minecraft.

Also, maybe try allocating more memory to Minecraft.

    Again, weird.

Maybe a last question: Is there a way to improve the speed of the rendering; I put the render distance to far (256m), but it's a bit long before objects appear. Graphics are at fast, but in details, they are at fancy.
I really need to open my third eye like you! :P

Try under OptiFine's "Performance" settings. Mess around with the different "Chunk Loading" options. Specifically, the number of chunk updates, load far (on/off), preloaded chunks (on/off), and dynamic updates (on/off). See what works best for you and see if any of that might give you what you are looking for. Although, in general, the farther the view the lower the performance.

If by "discussed" you mean "mentioned briefly", then yes. FPAleph has posted his detailed error report both here and in the Thaumcraft thread. There hasn't been any suggestion of a solution in either location yet, however.

Sooooo, that means you tried using the Block ID resolver mod and it didn't fix your problem?

I'm here to report two problems. The first problem is that, when installing Optifine (HD_A3, HD_S_A3) to a fresh minecraft installation, my view distance starts at 0. Everything is just white cutouts, no textures are visible.

    This should fix that problem:
    1. Temporarily revert back to the default texture pack if not currently being used.
    2. Start with a clean (unmodified) minecraft.jar file. Delete the current one and re-run Minecraft so it downloads a new one.
    3. Delete the META-INF folder from within that fresh and unmodified minecraft.jar file if not using Magic Launcher. If using Magic Launcher, skip this step. (Either way, do NOT patch with MCPatcher.)
    4. Install ModLoader if needed.
    5. Install ModLoaderMP if needed.
    6. Install Forge if needed.
    7. Install other mods as desired.
    8. Install OptiFine.

    :)

    Quote from FPAleph

My second problem is that, like others before me, I'm having the "ahw.run" exception spam slowing down my game. This error only occurs with both Optifine (HD_A2, HD_S_A2, HD_A3, or HD_S_A3) and Thaumcraft 2.1.2 installed.

Previously discussed. Try searching this thread for Thaumcraft.

Maybe yesterday I didn't reboot, but I sure did today. I also installed the new OptiFine HD A3 Multi-Core. These are my video game settings adjusted in Nvidia Control Panel:

My video adapter is: Nvidia GeForce GTX560 Ti DC II (1024MB GDDR5 dedicated Memory) from ASUS.

Is something wrong with those settings? The OptiFine Smooth version works very nicely! Would I get more fps with the Multi-Core one? Should I keep working with the Smooth version or something else has to be adjust? Thanks for your help!

    Well, I see your problem.

You're configuring your NVIDIA Control Panel settings specifically for the "minecraft.exe" file. The thing is, that files is really just a launcher for the actual minecraft.jar file. And, once that is running, you just see it as javaw.exe in the running processes.

Basically, those settings are doing absolutely NOTHING for you when running Minecraft.

Instead, go to the "Global Settings" tab and disable the Threaded Optimization setting there. You'll thank me for this. Again, it will improve performance and stabilization for all your games and not just Minecraft. Links to external discussions on this have previously been posted somewhere in this thread. And, also again, this does NOT remove multi-core functionality from your graphics driver or system in general. And, if you still don't believe me, just humor me and do it anyhow and then you can see for yourself.

You won't need to force VSync off. And, you can leave the Antialiasing and Ansiotropic Filtering settings to application controlled if you wish (recommended).

Again, you may also need to reboot after changing it in the global settings instead. But, you can try it once first without rebooting.

Once everything is working for you, you could also then try raising the number for the maximum pre-rendered frames setting and experiment your overall performance in general with your system and games.

I don't know if this bug has come to your attention, but optifine is slightly messing up every texture pack. I've gone into the textuerpacks and noticed that they have custom sandstone and glass, but in game, their item picture in the inventory is fine, but when placed, they look like the default. I am using Optifine MT, and it does this, I have not tested the others for this problem. When I replace the optifine jar with the original, the texture packs work.

Do the texture packs that you are trying to use support connected textures (do they include a ctm.png file)?

If not, disable the connected textures setting for the OptiFine settings in Minecraft. If they do, make sure that setting is enabled instead.

I want to ask something, When I use Optifine and Rei's minimap together, none of them work, but minecraft doesn't crash, any help please?

I use OptiFine and Rei's Minimap together just fine. If you want help, you need to post additional information.

I can tell you though, as I'm always stating, MOD ORDER MATTERS.

I forget if Rei's needs ModLoader, but ModLoader needs to go first. Then Rei's, and then OptiFine.

Also, if not using Magic Launcher, make sure you delete the META-INF folder from within the minecraft.jar file.

Uhmm, help please. I used optifine alot since the old times but since 1.2.5, the HD texture packs has some blocks with flames and portals and such. I'm aware that these means I don't have MCPatcher and Optifine is supposed to support HD Textures. Why is that? I tried turning off the animations and on. Help please.

You probably have another mod that is overwriting that portion of OptiFine's functionality.

Before completing the following steps, it may be a good idea to also re-download your texture pack to try to make sure that nothing is corrupt in your current download of it.
Or, for ease of use and many other reasons, try Magic Launcher instead and list the mods in the order according to that manual installation list I made just above.

    I installed optifine on a new minecraft.jar.
Worked nice. I used McPatcher to get my texturepack working and installed Sonic Ether Shader mod. now Optifine is gone :/ Whaaat?

You overwrote some of OptiFine's class files with another. Don't use any of the other mods included with MCPatcher. I suggest trying Magic Launcher instead.

Make sure you install optifine first.
    Delete Meta-Inf folder
Install the shader mod and relevant config.

If using magic launcher check if your configuration for that is including up to date and compatible mods

To be clear, I think you meant to install OptiFine "BEFORE" Sonic Ether Shader as opposed to very first before everything else. For instance, ModLoader, ModLoaderMP, and Forge would all go "FIRST" (in that order) before OptiFine. Also, if using Magic Launcher, you don't have to bother deleting the META-INF folder.

Yeah, you quite thoroughly recited the original post. Thanks.

Had to go over some of those main points again because you had obviously missed some things.

As I recall, he never clearly stated that he was using ONLY the one mod

Then I again ask you to read the last post. Because you didn't.

Me? I said HE never specifically stated he was only using OptiFine.

It was you that assumed that was the only mod he was using. And, I responded to that.

Actually, you contradict yourself because you were also the one that suggested he tried it with only OptiFine. After all, why suggest trying to do it with only OptiFine if you already thought that was the only mod he was using in the first place. If you suggested for him to see if he could get it to work with only OptiFine installed, it was a moot point since he was either already doing that or it wouldn't matter trying to use MCPatcher to install it instead.

LOL! That's NOT another MCPatcher. That's specifically Minecraft Version Patcher (as opposed to the MCPatcher HD Fix utility). They do completely separate things. That version patcher is for switching between versions of the minecraft.jar etc. Just like "MCP" refers to the Minecraft Coder Pack and not MCPatcher.

And finally, my specs: I'm on a Debian 64bit system with a shitty Intel graphics chipset and Java7 64bit. I'm using Minecraft 1.2.5 and OptiFine standard/smooth. MC currently runs with 256MB RAM, as suggested in the OP.
Weird thing is, I ran 1.2.5 for a few days with only tolerable lag spikes. A few days ago, the lag began to grow constantly, up to the point where Minecraft is no longer playable.

Part of the problem is probably due to you being on a Linux system. Drivers and library files for Linux systems have been known to have varying issues especially depending on the version of them that you are using.

For instance, while a later version of the LWJGL can help you, the latest versions of it can actually cause problems on Linux systems. The same goes for video drivers. On top of it, you're using an Intel Graphics Chipset. They're not really known for their drivers either. Again, mixing it with that you're running a Linux system compiles the issue. Even more so being an integrated graphics chipset rather than a separate video card.

As for Java, you didn't really list which version of Java 7 (as in, update 3?) but there is also a problem with the early access release 4 of Java 7. Regardless, I believe Linux systems have also had a problem with some of later Java 7 updates in general. So, you might get more stability and better results sticking with Java 6 for your system. Of course, make sure you have both the 32-bit and 64-bit editions of Java installed too. The 64-bit edition does not include the 32-bit edition.

Beyond that, it also sounds like there is a possibility that some general corruption may be going on in your game world. But, I would address the above issues first. Mainly, reverting back to Java 6 and starting from there. Of course, it really seems to be a combination of all of the above and you might not be able to resolve the issue just due to your Intel graphics chipset alone.

I'm using Faithful. Last Version had it working and i didn't have to change anything. I guess i have to download the connected texture and add it my self. Now just where do we place the png file?

That texture pack already has the ctm.png file in the root of its zip file like it should be.

My first suggestion is to temporarily revert back to the default texture pack, delete the Faithful 32x32 texture pack from the texture packs folder, and then re-download the latest version of it to replace the one you deleted. Then, switch back to using that texture pack and test.

Also, you didn't use the MCPatcher connected textures, did you?
