True. It's human nature to become unsettled with change. But having said that who doesn't want more features, more blocks, more mobs....more...well....Minecraft! You'll always get those who hate the new...love the old. For me it really depends on additions that balance the game or add more dynamic features. Then again I'm the guy who couldn't care less if there is never another skin pack released....ever!

posted a message on Minecraft Console Update?

Going off past releases I'd say your right. They might rush it through sometime before Christmas 2020. If it fails cert testing it might be more like June 2022.

Patience I guess. Might be another skin or texture pack as you know....that's priority number 1 for 4J.

Ok ok that sounded ungrateful. I was happy with the last major update but honestly I get uber bored with Minecraft inbetween new additions. Thankfully No Mans Sky will tide me over while I wait for the next "Big One".....that is of course if there is going to be one.

I just find the nearest mob spawner(best for me is skeleton spawner) and do a bog standard room around it,water below to push them to to a water ladder to carry them up and then drop into my waiting arms :)

Same. But I've a triple spawner in my world and it simply cranks out XP. Using the same water ladder/20 block drop method. Took awhile to get the most efficient design to get all 3 working without mobs clogging up the water ladders but solved it by using 2 double wide ladders that feed into 1 single kill chamber.

Same location really. Generally have a few double chests filled with just cobblestone and take a few bundles with me for the after wither battle patch up. Yes a corner edge would work even better. In addition if you've got a beacon nearby with the strenght perk you can chew through the second wither within a minute. Almost becomes a no contest fight when you've got that running.

Ahhh that Wither Boss....can be tricky at times but I've got a technique that put the odds in my favour somewhat. I dig a tunnel down to level 12 all the way to the edge of the map. After checking to make sure there's no lava underneath I build the wither 1 block out from the extreme edge of the world. This restricts the withers movement and with a enchanted sword you can generally make short work of the wither. This method tends to work for me more often than not plus the bonus diamonds sometimes found on the way is an extra perk. At the moment I've got 4 full sized beacons up and running and another 5 beacons made waiting for enough mineral blocks to activate.

I do wish the beacons had more range though. 164 blocks of iron is pretty expensive considering the 50 block range it gives you.

Anyway hope this tip helps you in your next fight.

posted a message on New to Minecraft... Noob Alert

    Hi and welcome. My tips for your son is as follows;

    1) Start off in creative mode or peaceful until your son is familiar with the various blocks, tools and other objects found in the game.

    2) When playing survival remember the ABC of minecraft - Food....Shelter....and a bed! These things should be the first things to aquire so your sons game runs smoother.

    3) Keep him offline and out of multiplayer for awhile until he masters the basics. After that if he wants to join others then keep an eye on him for awhile. Kids sometimes don't always know about griefing (destroying things others have built) and may accenently upset someone. TnT is fun but there's a time and place for that kinda gameplay. In addition others might find your son an easy target to troll or grief so make sure he plays with people he can trust.

    4) Watch some clips on YouTube to see what others have done, tips, tricks and to get inspiration.

My 6 year old plays too and is minecraft obsessed. My mistake was giving him too much time on the game and had a hard time weaning him off.....so I guess what I'm saying is just ease into it. It would probably help to play with him....it's a good way to have some bonding time with your little one and they love it when Dad gets involved.

Anyway welcome once again and hope you and your son have a great time with Minecraft.

posted a message on WEIRD SEED! Very creepy! Must read!

Yeah probably normal. In fact I just discovered the same thing in my world.......podzol and random "ruins" like mossy cobblestone. First time I've seen it since the last big update. What threw me out was this patch of mossy cobblestone/podzol was stuck in a small random area surrounded by woods.

PS: Don't get discouraged by others leaving critique on your posts. I've been playing Minecraft for AGES on PS3/PS4 (to the point where I once held the legit No#1 rank worldwide for kills on easy mode) and I'm still discovering new things....well at least how to do old things new ways.

posted a message on Is piston endermen farm broken?

My piston farm work flawlessly....but I use a pressure plate to invert a redstone torch which in turn powers the redstone torch diagonally above it - and that's what powers my Pistons. Found that repeaters had a way of failing and Pistons getting stuck in the "on" position.

Mine is is not an auto kill farm though....its XP and loot combined. Just discovered that the maximum amount of endermen you can collect before they stop spawning is 25. Useless info I know but I found it interesting 😅😅

I should add that I completely mined out all the endstone so they've really got nowhere to teleport to. Might try and build a "squish" kill chamber Sixadistix and see if I have the same issue as you.

posted a message on Useless facts learnt while playing MCPS4

No doubt we've all fooled around building things....seeing what works and what doesn't. Redstone wins...and failures....mob XP farms and the likes. Here are 3 things I've just discovered (some of this may already be common knowledge to a few readers)

Fact 1: I've known that in creative mode you can build your own end portal anywhere but only just figured out that the eyes of ender have to be placed facing a certain direction before it will work. Once the portal is active you can break the portal frame and still leave the 3x3 portal to the end intact.....that is unless you choose to break off each segment. I built a portal at my home base in a small room but only left a 1 block section of the end portal door active. Thinking I could build a trap with something like this.

Fact 2: While trying to build a sphere using a commonly used plotting program available on the net I figured out that it was NOT size accurate. Went to build a 256x256 sphere but set up 6 points of reference on the X/Y & Z axis first so I knew if I went wrong somewhere. After building the first ring in 2D I quickly discovered that the plot chart was incorrect. Triple and quadruple checked my markers and plot chart but it simply wasn't accurate. Would've made a nice sphere but no good for precise things like working out the exact spawning area of mobs. So much wasted time 😟

Fact 3: After completing my enderman farm I've learnt the most useless fact of all. The MAXIMUM number of endermen you can collect at one given time in The End realm is......25. No more...no less. Kill 6 and another 6 will drop....how quickly depends on how efficient your farm is.

So.....what useless facts have you discovered?

posted a message on Holding breath....crossing fingers. Who else feels the same? COMBAT UPDATE COMING

Im probably like a lot of MC players of late....getting a little tired of Minecraft so been playing other games to pass time before the next big TU. Having said that I'm both eagerly waiting for its release and dreading it at the same time. Soooooo much new cool stuff is coming that will keep me entertained but alas it seems there is always some price to pay.

Will the Combat Update pass cert testing? Well I give it 50/50 odds. 4J have failed in the past but I do hope they've not rushed this out too soon to capitalise on the Christmas dollar. Assuming it does pass cert testing I have genuine fears that it will be a smooth transition. Seems to me that with every major update that gets released something breaks down, bugs crop up and then takes ages to fix. I understand that adding code can be tricky and the more you add increases the amount of things that can go wrong so it's with some excitement, and with some fears, that I have about the next update.

Question is do other players feel the same? Do you think all will go smoothly or crash in a big ball of fire.....or creeper explosion?

posted a message on [PS3] I need help finding Spawn Chunks.
    Quote from highflyindude»

Sorry for bumping an old post but that sounds like the pearl jam seed. That's what I'm using. Can you go into more detail about how you converted a village to an iron farm.

Well I guess I should clear up that I remodelled ....not converted....the village to make an iron farm. In other words I scrapped the buildings and built the iron farm on bare foundations. Just meant I didn't have to move villagers around in mine carts or cure zombie villagers in order to set it up.

The iron farms I make are always the same. A 20x20 square base surrounded by 32 doors - 8 doors each side of the square. One 5x4 "pod" (not including wall thickness) in the middle of each side of the square on the same Y level as the 20x20 base. Each pod houses 2 to 3 villagers each....keeping in mind you only need 10 in total. The 8 doors on each side of the square are 1 block higher than the pods and main floor....3 blocks deep with a roof although I think it still works only being 2 blocks deep. 4 doors to the right and left of each pod. Then I put 4 dirt blocks in each corner of the square once I've trapped the villagers in their pods. I go around the edge placing water down which leaves a perfect 3x3 square uncovered directly in the middle of the main floor. Lastly I place a bucket of water on the further most dirt block in the corners then dig the dirt away.

The golems wash into that 3x3 area when they spawn and you can make a tunnel system (using water naturally) to move them under the farm to wherever you need. Like I said I build 3 farms in a triangular shape and have them all linked underground into a central auto kill point. Using lava blades, hoppers and a chest set up it collects iron and poppies automatically. Probably easier if I show you....hard to explain it in a post. Add me on PSN if you want to see the set-up up close and in person.

    regards

    Quote from TTSVids105»

    I don't have a PS4 :( but good seed

Should work on XBone if u have one. Ya know its kinda ironic I found this triple......was searching seed after seed for one but couldn't find one without a spider spawner ruining the triple. So I just created a new survival game to kill time and stumbled across this one by accident. The one time I don't actively look for one I find it.....just lucky I guess.

posted a message on FOUND IT! Legit triple Zombie spawner

Not many seeds "wow" me much anymore. Having said that occasionally one peaks my interest like this one. I've not explored it too much....found several double spawners and tons of singles, mineshafts, villages....the usual....BUT.....

I've finally found another triple NON SPIDER spawner. Not perfect....I mean I would've liked a skeleton spawner in the mix but hey 3 Zombies will do just fine. So for all the trap enthusiasts and XP farm builders this ones for you. Not the easiest to get working but hopefully these coordinates will get yours up and running with minimal fuss.

    World size - Medium

    Seed: 9063536685061404731

    (X/Y/Z) format

    Zombie 1: 56/42/612

    Zombie 2: 66/38/639

    Zombie 3: 64/28/633

If you stand at X56, Y35, Z626 you can easily get all three spinning. I'd work your farm around that central point.

On another note while I was exploring the nether I found a double joined stronghold. There were SO many chest to be had....with diamonds, diamond horse armour, gold and lots of other goodies. Personally I've not seen 2 nether fortresses before....not sure if it's a common thing on PS4 or larger maps or if I just got lucky. Either way I reccomend you take a look. I built my portal nearly exactly on the 0/0/0 central point of the middle map and found the fortress close by.

Anyway......another seed brought to you by me - Thr33 Nin3s. Hope you like it.

posted a message on Leaderboards broken?

My leaderboard hasn't been working more than 7-8 months. ideky it's not working?! I had the game for my account since 12/21/13. Now I haven't be going up the leaderboard and I play mostly everyday!

To be honest I haven't even checked the leaderboards for months.....not since I was robbed of 1st place bragging rights. Did try and contact 4J to get some attention to the leaderboard fiasco but as usual nothing was done and no reply (or explanation) was given. Pretty much standard procedure so don't know why I bothered wasting my time.
