If Mojang's server hosting turns out to be cheaper than most of the current paid server hosts, it could seriously hurt business for a lot of them.
If it's more expensive, then I don't see any real advantage to Realms over any of the billion existing 3rd party host services.
Mojang has one large advantage over other hosts - trust.
If you are looking for a third party host, there's a lot of potential research involved, who is cheapest, while still being reliable. And it's hard to accurately find who is reliable.
Mojang on the other hand... while many third party hosts are legitimate businesses, people will view Mojang as legitimaterererer.

Yes, we are conforming to society's arbitrary rules. We also conform to their arbitrary rules in terms of pornography. We also have our own arbitrary rules around spam, and other sorts of posts.
Sure, society arbitrarily saying these words are bad is dumb. However, we are a forum for discussion about minecraft, not a system to enact social change in order to make these words not arbitrarily bad.
Fixing society's issues is not our job. If someone wants to go and fix society's issues, great.
What our job -is- is to provide a place for discussion where people feel safe and welcome. And enough people disliked swearing that citric thought it would be a good idea to remove it. It is not our job to go to these people and say "hey, you know swearing isn't actually that bad?".
Over on MCFT, they have an entire thread dedicated to swearing (an extreme example, but still)

Sweet, thanks!

Usually contests are contests because they have some sort of restriction, whether that be time, color, or size. And since contests have restrictions, there will always be people who cannot enter the contest because they cannot work with the restriction.
Can you quote the post? As a mod I see all the hidden ones so I can't find the post you are linking

looks like really crumpled paper magically turned completely grey.
However it looks awesome in-game!

Drive comes and goes. Don't just immediantly drop it forever because you lost your drive a bit. Just keep it up-to-date with the latest minecraft (snapshots and months between versions helps here), but other then that leave it alone until you get your drive back.

No, he was originally an admin and decided to step down into the position.

CTM will only make changes based on metadata if that metadata actually exists in-game.
I do believe insomniac_lemon has done experiments on this.
If I remember correctly his results are the following:
CTM a texture to a metadata for a block that does not have that metadata value, and then spawn that block in-game with that specific metadata value. In your inventory, it will have the texture you gave it. However when you place it, it reverts back to the original texture.

I was about to say "You do remember you can specify north, south, etc sides?" Then I realised which sides the textures are on can change depending of orientation.
Actually, a Furnace's metadata changes depending on which way the front is facing.
So, you'll need 4 .properties.
metadata=2
faces=south east west
metadata=3
faces=north east west
metadata=4
faces=north east south
metadata=5
faces=north south west

Do you still have a link to the thread that you can share with us so we can tell you?

However, you put the number in the wrong spot.
ghast.png -> ghast_fire.png
ghast2.png -> ghast_fire2.png
ghast3.png -> ghast_fire3.png
etc, etc

However you can't have subfolders
So no ctm/stone/stonebrick/stonebrick.properties (or whatever the block ID is), it has to be ctm/stone/stonebrick.properties

As a poster, you can pick-and-choose what areas you post in, but as a moderator - it's not advisable to pick-and-choose what subsections of the section you are assigned to to moderate in. You don't need to be an active poster in one particular area of SYC to be able to moderate there.

There are no requirements to be a moderator other than the admins thinking you are the right sort of person from your post content/app content/whatever, and you showing some interest in the section(s) you are applying for.
Something like posting in every section might be nice, but don't force it. Don't just do something because "oh it will increase my chance of being a moderator."
IMO, it's better to be passionate in a few sub-sections, then it is to be vaguely interested in all sub-sections but no particular one.
