    There's nothing wrong with 'swear' words. Society somehow decided that they weren't allowed to be said. Keeping this arbitrary rule is pointless.

    Yes, we are conforming to society's arbitrary rules. We also conform to their arbitrary rules in terms of pornography. We also have our own arbitrary rules around spam, and other sorts of posts.
    Sure, society arbitrarily saying these words are bad is dumb. However, we are a forum for discussion about minecraft, not a system to enact social change in order to make these words not arbitrarily bad.

    Fixing society's issues is not our job. If someone wants to go and fix society's issues, great.
    What our job -is- is to provide a place for discussion where people feel safe and welcome. And enough people disliked swearing that citric thought it would be a good idea to remove it. It is not our job to go to these people and say "hey, you know swearing isn't actually that bad?".

    Yeah, since that (word used as an intensifier) happened before the rule was changed.

    Over on MCFT, they have an entire thread dedicated to swearing (an extreme example, but still)

    For the new snapshot - you have to download it through the new launcher. Where does it store the .jar? I want to update my tp :(

    I, personally, am not a fan of color limits, unless the whole point of the challenge is the color limit. Any kind of limitation on colors would completely "cramp my style," as it were. I generally don't use palettes, I start with a few colors and go from there. If there were a color limit and a resolution limit below 64x, I would be completely unable to enter. Remember, not everyone is a pixel artist. Some people might feel a little left out if they can't use their own style in community challenges.

    Usually contests are contests because they have some sort of restriction, whether that be time, color, or size. And since contests have restrictions, there will always be people who cannot enter the contest because they cannot work with the restriction.

    I tell you, this is AWESOME:

    Custom Item Textures!

    A hidden feature of MCPatcher according to this Dokucraft thread. Look for the quivers...

    So, I'm facing a bit of a dilemma.

    At the moment, I'm just feeling no real motivation to continue with my texture pack (Mosaica HD, that is). I dunno why, but somehow I'm just sick of working on that thing :/
    I'm not sure what I should do with it. Should I force myself to press on? Should I put the source files up for download so someone else can carry on? Should I just drop the thing altogether? I dunno...

    Drive comes and goes. Don't just immediantly drop it forever because you lost your drive a bit. Just keep it up-to-date with the latest minecraft (snapshots and months between versions helps here), but other then that leave it alone until you get your drive back.

    How exactly did The_Pastimaster get his kind of promotion though? Was he a really Good moderator before he became the global moderator?

    No, he was originally an admin and decided to step down into the position.

    I'm thinking, is it possible to make different types of ice based on metadata or does that trick only work for blocks which already have metadata.

    CTM will only make changes based on metadata if that metadata actually exists in-game.

    I do believe insomniac_lemon has done experiments on this.
    If I remember correctly his results are the following:
    CTM a texture to a metadata for a block that does not have that metadata value, and then spawn that block in-game with that specific metadata value. In your inventory, it will have the texture you gave it. However when you place it, it reverts back to the original texture.

    It's not quite so simple. If you just specify faces=sides, then the texture you use will show up on allthe sides. You don't want that, obviously. All I can think of is having it replace the furnace_side tile on the dispenser block (so matchTiles= and matchBlocks= in the same file). Though, I believe this has been tried before and did not work. If that doesn't work, Murphy, it looks like you're stuck. I can't think of another solution.

    I was about to say "You do remember you can specify north, south, etc sides?" Then I realised which sides the textures are on can change depending of orientation.

    Actually, a Furnace's metadata changes depending on which way the front is facing.
    So, you'll need 4 .properties.

    metadata=2
    faces=south east west

    metadata=3
    faces=north east west

    metadata=4
    faces=north east south

    metadata=5
    faces=north south west

    posted a message on Apparently a post I made about how the term "Gay" isn't a derogatory by itself was removed... why?
    Quote from Mimir

    If that's the case are you not able to check to see what the reason was? Or why I wasn't told it was against the rules? If you want to know the whole story it's basically my friend was muted on the server that i made my post at, and i was muted for asking why he was muted when he only said the word gay (again in a non derogatory term). I was asking why i was muted on their forum thread because they wouldn't answer me in game... I understand if someone is using derogs on the forums that it needs to be taken down. But mine simply did NOT break any rules.

    Do you still have a link to the thread that you can share with us so we can tell you?

    You were on the right track, naming the ghast_fire in the same fashion as the ghast.png.
    However, you put the number in the wrong spot.

    ghast.png -> ghast_fire.png
    ghast2.png -> ghast_fire2.png
    ghast3.png -> ghast_fire3.png
    etc, etc

    Well, you don't need the "source=" line for the new format (with MCpatcher, not sure about Optifine) anymore (although if you keep it, don't worry it won't mess things up, just not try to look in this version), instead the tiles are their own images. Also, you don't need to use matchBlocks=line either if you name it "block1.properties" (and then it's already more backwards compatible).

    But the .properties file should be in a folder in /ctm/ (not just in /ctm/) and the referenced tiles should be in the same folder (for instance, you should have 0.png, 1.png, and 2.png in that folder). You can have as many folders as you like, for instance you can have a folder just for things dealing with stone if you like.

    However you can't have subfolders :(
    So no ctm/stone/stonebrick/stonebrick.properties (or whatever the block ID is), it has to be ctm/stone/stonebrick.properties

    Thanks for the advice, I really just want to focus only on 3 sections of the Show your Creation Section.

    As a poster, you can pick-and-choose what areas you post in, but as a moderator - it's not advisable to pick-and-choose what subsections of the section you are assigned to to moderate in. You don't need to be an active poster in one particular area of SYC to be able to moderate there.

    Well I post in a range of 20-50 post a day. Also, do you have to post in all the sub-sections of Show you Creation? I only post in Screenshot and Machinima sections.

    There are no requirements to be a moderator other than the admins thinking you are the right sort of person from your post content/app content/whatever, and you showing some interest in the section(s) you are applying for.
    Something like posting in every section might be nice, but don't force it. Don't just do something because "oh it will increase my chance of being a moderator."
    IMO, it's better to be passionate in a few sub-sections, then it is to be vaguely interested in all sub-sections but no particular one.
