posted a message on Why did notch take out Snow and Rain?
This thread is full of fail

OP: Notch took out snow and rain for a while. Then he added in Biomes (different areas of the map that have different characteristics such as snow, sand and amount of trees). Then when he had them working properly, he added in Biome Specific Weather (snow in the snowy areas, none in the desert and rain everywhere else)

Also, OP is either very thick or a very good troll, not sure which

For healing at home, pig all the way. For healing while adventuring, since you should be carrying a crafting table anyway, 1 stack of wheat = 21 bread = 52.5 hearts for one inventory space. If bone meal and seeds with you instead then two inventory slots = 64 to 128 wheat (52.5 to 105 hearts) + 0 to 256 more seeds. Assuming that you are killing skeletons and turning bones into meal then seeds = infinite health and take up two slots.
In second place (faster to make but takes up more slots and isn't as easily infinite) is Shroom Soup with 320 hearts of health for 3 inventory slots. The up side of soup? No need to find dirt, make a hoe, plant a seed, dump bone meal on it, harvest, craft bread, repeat, you just need to make soup and go

A day lasts for around 8 minutes in real-time. I think that we should be forced to eat three times per day (once every 2.6 minutes) before our health bar starts to drop. For the sake of realism, right guys? A player must vary their diet also, to include meat, bread and milk to ensure our characters have adequate minerals.

I urge you, Notch, to implement these changes as soon as you can. Perhaps make them the defining features of 1.7?

Additionally, I consider it cheating to continue to play a world once one has died.

This isn't realistic at all. I don't eat three times between sunrise and sunset EVER and I don't start starving to death every day. Hell, it's 2pm and I haven't eaten at all yet. Also, for maximum realism, we need better access to fruit and vegetables (be stuffed if I'm getting my 3 fruit and veg out of hard to find apples) and gold apples should be impossible to eat. We also need to be able to drink water, just in case you are lactose intolerant and so can't drink the milk, then we need to be able to differentiate between salt and fresh water. You also should have to sleep every night or have reduced reaction time after one night and start randomly falling asleep during the day after two nights.

In other news, if this all gets implemented, I would quit Minecraft until someone made a mod to get rid of it

In response I give you the "If you are going to rip on someone else's spelling, make sure you have it right in your own post" award.

Anyway, to everyone suggesting using chests or dropping items close to the portal and running to get there when you respawn, are we sure that time doesn't pass differently in the nether? I swear I have been harvesting glowstone, left the nether, came back a few hours later and found a few bits of glowstone dust on the ground that I missed. I'm not sure, but I don't think the item deterioration time limit applies to the world that you are not in (ie, if you are in the nether then items dropped in the real world don't disappear and if you are in the real world then items dropped in the nether don't either). If this is the case then you could just drop items near the portal, kill yourself and wander back at a leisurely pace without worrying if they will be there or not.

Yea, sails are going to be a ***** for you, if you are planning on white or any of the easy to get dye colors (red, yellow, orange) then the easiest way is to find a spider dungeon and make a cactus grinder around it and collect string. Especially now that the recipe for string -> wool has been changed to 4 instead of 9

Dude, this whole thing is pretty awesome! Welcome to the forums!

If you want, check this out: http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/370725-arstenia-city-presidents-mansion/

Why do people quote multi image posts for one or two line replies? Especially directly after the posts they are quoting and even more, when more than half their post is advertising their own crap.

    OT:
Needs some portholes (windows) and a figurehead. Decent looking start.

Awesome, maybe you gotta build the Sydney bridge over a river!

Yea, I thought about suggesting the bridge but I thought that the Opera House was more interesting and I only wanted to have one challenge in any one city. I chose Coober Pedy because it is fairly unique being that it is mostly built underground and I thought it would force anyone wanting to do it to do some research. I would strongly suggest that building the Sydney Harbor Bridge is a great idea for anyone doing this

posted a message on Civilization Challenge!
Nice work, if I wasn't already building my own (fantasy) civ I'd probably jump on this. I'd like to propose Australia(Canberra) as one of the civs with the following challenges
Primary - One major city on each coast of a land mass and one on a separate (smaller) island
Secondary - Sydney Opera House in Sydney
Secondary - Coober Pedy (South Australia)
Tertiary - Uluru/Ayers Rock in the center of a desert. You'll have to scale this one down since it's over 300meters high. I suggest going for a sea level - top of skybox scale which would make it nearly 2km across at the widest
    Tertiary - Great Barrier Reef

Edit: I guess I should explain my thinking behind the Tertiary challenges. I figured that having some of the natural elements of the civilization in the build but since they aren't actually part of the civ, just part of country, that they couldn't be secondary as people didn't actually build them

Drunk =/= idiotic BS at all times. I've played games drunk and very VERY rarely do I do stupid **** in them that I wouldn't do sober. I just play the game normally but with worse reaction times and less ability to think my way through difficult puzzles

    1.3
Easier: BedsAfter all this time, I still don't see how beds make things easier, there is zero difference between sleeping and afking for a while on nights you don't want to do anything
    Harder: None
    1.4
Easier: Spawn changing + wolves Meh, wolves don't make that much difference, by the time you are taming wolves you have already proved you can kill skeles (IMO the hardest common mob) and spawn changing just means that you can build away from spawn, only thing that makes it easier is that you will spawn in a safe location rather than in the open. You still need to risk yourself to get your stuff back
    Harder: None
    1.5
Easier: None (Excluding the newbie guide with achievements)
Harder: Weather (?) mobs can now spawn and survive outside during the day
    1.6
Easier: Maps, mushroom farms, trapdoors. Maps are only easier if you don't know about F3 showing coordinates, mushroom farms are still less reliable for food than wheat farms and trapdoors are no easier than stairs with a door at the top
    Harder: None
    1.7
Easier: TNT breakable, pistons. I'll give you breakable TNT but not by much since a bucket of water did almost the same thing. Pistons can't really do anything that we couldn't do anyway (as far as difficulty is concerned) they just give an extra option
Harder: Sheep drop less wool! MAKES THE GAME SO MUCH HARDER! Difficulty will probably even out since mobs will be more persistent and sheep may regrow wool, also shears will make them drop the same amount of wool as they do now so you'll just need a few more sticks

Overall, I don't think the game difficulty has changed much. Maybe glowstone dropping more and needing less to make made it easier because I need to spend less time in the nether to get it, but that is kinda balanced by using up my pickaxes
