Jul 17, 2014The_Hax0r posted a message on UPDATE: Snapshot 14w29b is Ready For (Enhanced Graphical) Testing!Same here, I get stable ~160 FPS in 1.7.9 w/o Optifine but in the snapshots it's 40-65. One would say that those are perfect FPS for playing, but it that's not relevant since it still shouldn't be happening and it's not only that: 1. Some chunks won't load until I press F3 + T. 2. I occasionally get block lag 3. Lag spikes.Posted in: News
I just hope 1.8 fixes that, since a lot of people are having the same issue with the snapshots, and it's getting worse with every version.
Edit: I noticed that my game inmediatly allocates the 100% of RAM memory and the numbers in "Used" MB of RAM change way too fast like crazy, they go from 1% to 100% 10 times in a second! That didn't happen to me in 1.7.x -

cool i heard there adding lost of new bioms might be just be a little white lie lol
It's completely true! Actually you can play the 1.7 snapshots right now if you didn't know...
"We strongly recommend that you don’t run the snapshots on an existing world if you want your landscape to stay pretty. You’ll get silly chunk borders and they don’t look pretty at all. I’d even go as far as to call them ugly.
To get snapshots, open your launcher and press the “New Profile” button. Call it “snapshots” and check the box saying “Enable experimental development snapshots” and save. To switch to the normal version, you can select it in the dropdown at the bottom left corner of the launcher." -

Just waiting for 1.7. Waiting...and waiting...
And I am unlucky and just can't find the 'mesa' biome and the 'glacier(?)' biome in creative mode.
Want to see them myself.
Here: -840222844129379185
That seed makes you spawn in a very big mesa biome and very near to a "Mesa Plateau M F", a very rare variation of the mesa biome.
And: -1993210024794250610
You spawn near an Ice Spikes biome. The coords are: X: 104, Y: 81, Z: 411

Cool red sand, hopefully they'll add red sandstone and all colors to sand and sandstone(that be awesome)
I kinda like the colored glass idea, but colored sand blocks wouldn't fit Minecraft at all IMO.

Any news on this issue? Is there any way to fix it? It still happens for me even in 1.8.3, and because of that I haven't been able to normally play anything in version 1.8 since its release. I just hate to play against retarded "hostile" mobs...

No, people just kinda surrendered since you never took them as a significant part of the users and you kept saying that that's how bloom was supossed to work, even when I showed with pics of modern games that it wasn't true. But I remember some pages ago a lot of people were asking for it.
Bloom is not supposed to be bright, bloom can be bright, that depends on the scene. For example, when you're in a cave or outside but it's night time, this mod looks awesome, specially the moon and the torches, but when it's daytime and although the bloom lowers itself according to screen brightness, the grass looks sometimes like if it was radioactive and the sky doesn't seem sky anymore but more like just a white background.

Seconded

Exactly this.
I considered myself kind of addicted to Minecraft, but since 1.8.0, I haven't touched the game, even if the performance issues got better I can't stand playing agains mobs that act like retards.

Has year passed since 1.8 release?

In which game? Bloom always adapt. You, that are always talking about realism, should see how an average camera adapts the bloom.
This is what I mean:
Bloom adapts, and is almost unnoticeable now:
Full bloom:
Bloom 'tries' to adapt, but it's still very bright:
I also took some pics of Battlefield 4:
To get the bloom to lower as much as in those games, you have to look directly to the sky AND use OptiFine's zoom to look at a cloud... I think that's the problem that people have tried to express.

Hmmm, yeah, but it's also meant to adapt better. I wouldn't really want a change in brightness but a change in... automatic change in brightness! yeah. The bloom when I'm inside my house or when I'm in cave looks great, but outside and even when half of the screen is very bright, the bloom will just reduce a little bit, and I think that's what makes it a bit annoying for some users.

FTFY.

He's not talking about compatibility or bugs with the Shaders mod (there isn't any and it looks awesome anyways), he's talking about adding support for normal and specular maps so the lightning will look more realistic with the textures and some blocks will actually reflect light when it's raining, for example.

Alright, lets say it's not the majority. But then, why would you be mad at people that complain? Why is it wrong? Sure that posts like "UH THE GAME IS BROKEN CUZ MOJANG CHANGED ROSES TO POPPIES" or "UH, 3D SNOUTS FOR PIGS DO NOT FIT MINECRAFT'S ART STYLE, THE GAME IS RUINED" are stupid af, but because people complain too much, are you gonna act like if it were people's fault the fact that they get a bad performance in 1.8? Or is it just because you don't have said issue? What's the problem with it?
3
Seriously, if you found this thread you can find pretty easly the posts I'm talking about. During the development of Optifine for 1.8, sp614x made several posts explaining in detail the changes included in said version, such as water temples being very laggy due to a screw up in water lighting, chunks not loading due to lazy code in the rendering and more. Those are the bests posts I could show you but that thread fills about 2 or 3 pages daily so I can't find them. But there more threads like this one, for example, although I would preffer having sp614x's posts.
If you say that forum posts are not an accurate representation of a userbase then it achieves nothing in this discussion to post only your experience with 1.8.
It's not just this thread that tells that the majority of players have lag. I've seen it in Facebook, YouTube, plenty of other threads and in IRL; I have three friends of mine that play Minecraft with me and we're stuck in 1.7 because all of us have lag issues in 1.8, so that's a 4/4 people lagging, with very different PCs. If by having all that in mind you're still not convinced that this is a problem that affects a huge amount of Minecraft users, then let me know because I certainly won't continue with this...
Lastly, as some have said, it's not just FPS, it's the general smoothness, the IA getting worse, chunk loading problems, block lag, etc. But even if it were just the FPS, that does not mean that people can't complain just because they can still play at 60 FPS; What it was for the hardware to play the game at 200 FPS before, might be the same load of work to play at 60 FPS in 1.8, meaning that some PCs can run hotter. Minecraft should not work like that in a update that was meant in part to increase the performance.
3
That's just overcomplicating something too simple. 1.8 caused tons of unnatural lag for most Minecraft players and it's something that 99% of people, even including people whose performance is the same, would agree on. Just check all the threads and posts out there about this, not only the most simple ones that just say "i got lag when i updated to 1.8" but also the ones that explain further the possible causes of lag in 1.8 such as previous OptiFine's developer posts where he explains in detail what exactly changed in 1.8 that is what is causing all these issues.
"Also consider that programs become more demanding over time"
I sure considered it, but going from 170-270 FPS to 32-50 FPS is just ridiculous, and there are worse cases.
0
It is, but it's still true, because it's not like he can't go back to 1.7 to check; If in 1.7 it works fine but in 1.8 it does not, and you try changing versions many, many times but it still happens, it's 1.8's fault.
1
That's true, but I might know what he's reffering to. Despite the game saying it's at 60 FPS, it still has "mini-lag spikes" that make it feel like 30-40 FPS. It really is less smooth.

It's supossed to be NVM, but yeah...
