This is a great guide, but I find it would be very hard to get enough people on an unlaggy server, with no one using flyhacks, etc., and be able to bring all this stuff together to make a great SMP server. Also, with sieges, why not just wait it out, then when everybody is asleep at one or so, come onto the server and get the resources you need, destroy your enemies' cover or whatever they have outside of your base, possibly go hunting for their base, and other things.
If you were able to get this kind of a server, though, I think I would build some form of underwater and underground base, with the first room being very dim, as to let out no special amount of light for the people outside that might be searching for it. Then comes a long stretch of narrow hallways, maybe even a maze, that leads far enough underground so that nameplates cannot be seen, with maybe some small lookout areas, again, dim, with not that much to show it was man made. Down at the bottom, this might take forever to make, but you could hollow out a huge area, I mean huge enough to fit your base in the middle of with a reasonable amount of open space outside, possibly obsidian above and around the roof above your base, a form of moat, lava or water, 4 block thick walls, with possibly lava, inside the walls to meet anyone trying to dig straight in. (Because lava is so effective at filling that role, yet everybody uses sand or gravel too annoy and delay their enemy instead.) The castle can have an obsidian/lava defense under it, trying to keep people from getting underneath. Then you can have this simple wall design I found on youtube that is actually really helpfull:
    So there. :tongue.gif:

We had an epic last battle of zombie week between the bullies and a group of rebels that snuck into ardefrost to find the bully HQ. I really don't think anyone won, though.

(I found hawk's secret chest with diamonds and fire, though. Too bad he killed me when I had that stuff.)

To be fair, dogs usually don't give a damn what you're saying to them either. It's the tone that its said in. You could say anything ranging from "aww, who's my little buddy? that's right you are!" to "you're the stupidest piece of worthless oxygen sucking flesh on the planet" all the way down to complete jibberish. As long as your using the right tone the dog won't know the difference.

Actually, dogs and cats can "learn words". Any pet owner will tell you that, after owning the pet long enough, the pet starts to know what certain words are.

Though it's not like they are learning to understand you comprehensively. A specific word here or there. Maybe two specific words(which would be no better than a single word to them), and only in certain contexts. My current dog knows the word "outside". If you ask him if he wants to go "outside" he runs to the door. I've tried asking it in a variety of tones and ways to say it. I've even narrowed it down to him know that specific word.. the rest of the sentence is gibberish to him.

I doubt he knows "outside" refers to the whole world beyond our door. He just knows someone looking at him and saying, "outside" means the door is going to open. Point is, dogs can learn to understand words in a very limited extent, but they can do it. If you use certain words and phrases in the same context enough, they'll learn. They're a pack animal and have somewhat developed social and communication centers to interact with a pack. It's not beyond reason that they can do this.

Cats..? That.. depends largely on the breed of cat. Some house cats are don't give a **** types, but there are certain breeds that will behave more like dogs(which make the best cats. you ever play fetch with a cat?). Those will be social with the owner and actually care.

edit: To complete the thought. If you use the same words enough, they'll know when certain things aren't nice words. A certain phrase is always used with a certain tone. In punishment or praise or what have you. If they get used to it.. then you switch it up.. you tend to confuse them.

My cat is that king of 'I don't give a damn cat', but he knows some words.
    Mainly food.....

Anyways, I think the idea of dogs would be interesting, to say the least, though. I think that would also be interesting to have cats that are more stay at home, even though cats, in my experience, mostly like exploring outside.

Actually, Minecraft has a head start of at least ninety-thousand, and I can only guess how many live in America, which isn't relevant, because just because something was made in an area doesn't mean that a large amount of people there will like it, and, we don't even know if it will be successful, so this "Problem" Is just an IF.Quoting this

i walked into my local library and there was a poster of the stupid game!

and now that i think back to it i should have taken a picture of it.

I have never heard of this game before, and I don't know how the poster got there, but from what I hear, posters at libraries aren't that successful.

This topic seems more inclined toward crafting tables than weapons; with this prognosis, I will post exclusively toward :Bench: .

I don't think that stacking them next to eachother should do something as extreme as a literal jump. What I would like to see is logical progression.

This way, smacking 2 benches together gives you a 4x4 grid. Smacking 4 benches together gives you a 5x5.

I like the other idea, but your's seems more practical.

EDIT:Are they put together on a crafting space, or put like chests, as on the old idea?

I have been looking at weapons that fit the Minecraft Medieval-like things, and I find most are variations of the sword/bow with pros and cons, while when you get out of Europe, which I like to think Minecraft is based in, the weapons seem to get to be based on something else, or in Asia, they are just randomized and not just based off of one single main weapon. Hrm....

Each weapon should be unique and fill a specific niche in combat. Most of these are just swords that do a little more damage or slash a bit faster. My challenge to you is make up a weapon idea that would feel and play COMPLETELY different then a sword or bow and arrow. And small tweaks in stats do not make it feel or play differently.

    1) Pretty much your giving out a bunch of sword reskins with stat tweaks (and in some cases overhauls)

    2) Use the search bar for some of these ideas

Hmm... I guess most of all the people who don't like these ideas want some things way more different. Thanks for the feedback, though!

Creepers Explode in your face, Knocking them away to minimize damage if they get too close is a good use for the battle axe

Karbuncle gave me an idea for something that can knock your enemy back, possible for some sort of knock-someone-off-the-platform-without-spleefing thing. I don't think I came up with that good of weapons, though, now that I look at it, but I still like the concept of a weapon specially for knocking an enemy back.
