The new launcher is only for snapshots?Quote from indisputible
For the time being i think it is, but when the new launcher is complete you can play every version from 1.5 and on.
I can change from 1.5.1 to the latest snapshot without changing clients. I pretty much stopped using the old launcher when the new one came out.

It should be safe. Did you try getting it from Mojang's site?

http://s3.amazonaws.com/Minecraft.Download/versions/13w16a/minecraft_server.13w16a.exe
You would also need to purchase the game.

What is your system specs?
I have no idea where, since you can still access the saves with the older client.
Better let jeb, Dinnerbone know about that.

I don't think so.

1. Minecraft 2.0 was an April Fool's joke. Minecraft 1.6 is not a joke, but it'll be a long time before it gets to 2.0.
2. Not happening. Beef comes from cows, not horses.

They didn't say when 1.6 is coming out.

There is a server jar available. They could run the snapshot if they wish, but one server host told me he'll wait for the official release.

Nope. You can buy a PC Gamecard in local stores. Snapshots don't go away, but this one is part of a future update.
Installing the snapshot would add the folders. I'm not sure since I used the current client to add the folders, then ran the new client on top of it. Doesn't do much to the game, but you cannot join 1.5.1 servers.

Some bozo didn't explain this part:
Its a work in progress. You can still use the old client to access 1.5.1, but need the new launcher for 1.6.

They won't do that.

For the record: I bought my ps2 in 2005, 360 in 2008, PS3 in 2011

That's only if you want to play online. Xbox Live Gold requires you to pay, Xbox Live Free does not.

Won't be out for a couple years or so though. So waiting till then is pointless as you'll miss out on a lot of games released prior to Xbox 720 & PS4.

Mine hasn't broke in over 4 years.
I own both 360 & PS3 as I don't plan on getting a gaming pc at all. Both can do HD and have onine services and diffferent exclusives.

An autosave in MCEdit wouldn't be worth it as it might lead to a corrupted save. Best to use Alt + S at times.
