(The story only gets weird near the end, but don't skip to the end)
Alright, I was wandering around a very elaborate cave system not too far from my house (maybe 100-200 blocks directly to the left) when I suddenly got lost. Thus, I built myself a stairway up to the surface. One problem: I had no idea where I was. Luckily, I had gathered a lot of cobblestone, redstone and iron in my expedition and I told myself I could build a compass if necessary. I didn't want to waste my resources, so I kept on wondering, hoping to end up near my house. Then, I saw something weird.
Keep in mind that I had built two portals to the Nether near my house, and another portal was created because my portal positions were invalid. Well, the weird thing that I saw was a random portal to the Nether in the middle of nowhere.
I told myself "what the heck" and went through. I ended up going to my main portal in the nether. When I went back through, I reappeared in the portal near my house.
Has this ever happened to you/what are your thoughts?
So, my idea is that, to add an extra "survival" type element, I think that food (stew, meat, etc.) should eventually expire. Similarly, there would be a system (like a fridge) to stop it from doing so.
HOW EXPIRED FOODS SHOULD ACT:
Expired foods should either disappear or change appearance (maybe seem green and moldy).
IF the food changes appearance, it should also behave differently (like not heal a player or heal a very minimal amount, or even damage or kill a player. It could also make him sick, making him glow green and lose health over time).
HOW TO KEEP FOODS LONGER:
I think refridgerators should work like a mixture of a fuurnace and a chest. What I mean is that there should be a pretty large storage capacity, BUT for it to actually keep foods cool, it would need to be fueled by ice (or something similar).
Similar to furnaces, there should be a meter that fills up, so that players can know when the refridgerator needs more ice.
Similar to chests, fridge blocks should increase in capacity when stacked VERTICALLY (instead of horizontaly).
Also, fridges could cool foods without needing to constantly be powered, but the crafting recipe should look different.
HOW TO CRAFT A FRIDGE:
I think that the recipe for a fridge should look like this:
[]
For a fridge that cools foods indefinetely, the recipe should look like this (where is ice):
WHEN FOODS EXPIRE:
I think that foods should expire after one IN-GAME week without being cooled by a refridgerator. Once the food item is placed in the refrigerator and removed, the timer for expiration should reset.
That is the end of my suggestion. Thank you for reading this far!

I think that cloth should be replaced by string when making a collar, however.

Also, nice texture pack.

Although it might be something similar.

Portals are built to return to the surface world (for lack of better words) when your portal is built in an invalid position.
The one I found does not meet that criteria.

Sorry for the late reply, I just felt like re-visiting this post.
