Hmmm.... I'm not sure what the problem might be. Can you link us to the tutorials you used? I also know that some operating systems are not compatible with much of the software on this site. An example would be Windows 7.

Hey guys, I made a preview video. However, the screen camera I used apparently doesnt work for games. Anyone have any (free) suggestions for screen cameras?

Just an update, the Testing Facility 2 now has 7 testing chambers. There has also been an update to the guidelines, you can now use clay for a destructable, non-replaceable block.

Also, a quick question, how many bricks does it take to make a brick cube?

    EDIT: Nevermind, it takes four.

i dont know if i did it right. it only took me about 10 min and i didnt see the nether.

    SPOILER BELOW ----------------------------

i made it to the part where you go through the caves. was i supposed to swim up the stream to get out? i assumed so since there was mossy cobblestone at the end of the stream.

Hmmm... thats strange. Once you get to the caves there should be signs that you follow. You probably found another way out of the caves by accident.

I loved your challenge! It was certainly unique. Hopefully people can follow your example. Great job.
The only thing I changed was to make 2^5 question more apparent that it was multiplication and not 2 to the 5th power, and the text on a few signs.

In other words, your challenge has been accepted and I will put it in The Testing Facility 2.

I would love to help, but don't know what to use to build the map things. What do you use?

I actually built it in-game, but I used an inventory editor to get the resources I needed. I only used MCEdit to place large cubes of material I could use to excavate into rooms. See the resources section.

Just another quick thought, it might be helpful if you can tell me if you (anyone) are going to build a challenge, just so I have an idea of how big to make the map. I already have 4 chambers/challenges built... I will probably finish it when I get 20-25. Seriously I need you guys to help me! Simply post a DL link to the world which your challenge/chamber is in.

    Thanks!!!

I'd love to help, but I'm on a very tight schedule atm...

That's fine. This will probably be going on for a while until I get 12-17 submissions.

Hopefully anyone that is reading this has a bit of prior knowledge about the Facility, and if you do not look at this first.

Anyway, I am creating this thread to give the community a chance to have their challenges involved in The Testing Facility 2. All you have to do is build your challenge, and abide by the following guidelines. Please note that you must post the DL link to your challenge in a reply on this thread, and that I will look over it to see if it is applicable to be used.

    Guidelines

    - The total size of the challenge you build must be no more than 40x40x40, including walls.
    - All walls, floors, ect. must be built out of Iron Blocks. Points of interest and paths should be built of Gold Blocks.
    - It must be well lit.
    - In The Testing Facility 2, the only things players should pick up/dig are Dirt Blocks and anything in a chest. This means you should put all challenge necessary items in chests.
    - Redstone circuitry is allowed, but it must not be too complex.
    - Things should not be built for the purpose of killing players, lava and other dangerous materials should only be used to block off areas and force players to find dirt to make a safer path.
    - The Nether is prohibited from being involved in your challenge.
    - Place signs where necessary, but leave the plotline to me.
    - There must be two signs at the start of you challenge, one saying that it is the start, and the other giving yourself credit. Another sign must be place at the end of the challenge.

Sorry if these sound like a lot, but they are for the better good of the game.

    Resources
These are the programs I used to make the original one:

    INVedit

    MCEdit

    ------

If you have any other questions, post them in a reply.
    Happy Building!

Also the ending was awesome but a little to long but also i kinda wanted the nether to be a little longer

Thanks. I hope to have more nether challenges in the future, but the Nether is always a bit trickier to make challenges in. When I build The Testing Facility 2, I will probably make the ending a bit less dramatic but not as long and boring. I do admit, it is quite a far walk.

I'm a tad confused by your block restriction rule. Are we allowed (or required, for that matter) to pick up torches and Redstone as well? Some places are simply too dark to navigate with my monitor's crappy gamma settings, and the Redstone I saw might be used for a contraption later on, I dunno.

Could you please clarify this? I like it so far, but unless this is made clear for me, I don't think I can proceed any further without fear of breaking the rules! =O

Sorry about your confusion, the block rule isnt quite specific enough. You can pick up redstone and torches, and anything you find in a chest. I suggest leaving the redstone that is already placed alone, though, because there are a few circuits in the game. Torches are always permitted to be picked up. I suggest only picking up redstone if you find it in a chest.

Actually, I think I am going to do another one. Can you please tell me how hard it was? I would like to know if it should be easier or harder. (I'm guessing harder)

Sorry guys, but before you get too far, download v1.1. It fixes a redstone error at the very end. Trust me, the course isnt as long as you think. I can beat it in 15 minutes. (Then again I created it) In other words, it will be easy to re-accomplish the challenges you have already beaten.

No, this is not a map generator or mod. This is an actual map that was built in game. It is a challenge course that (hopefully) is very challenging. It is set in a strange testing facility, where the player has no idea what is going on. The challenges may seem impossible at some times, but I am extremely confident they are possible. The journey takes players through cube-like rooms, caves, the Nether, and underneath the main facility. At the end, players are free to explore and do what they want, and maybe even try to find some of the chests I had to build to store my materials during construction.

In future versions I will make it impossible for player to escape through the use of bedrock, but in this v1.0 I am simply going to leave it to an honor rule. This honor rule is that players may only dig dirt and gravel blocks. Destruction of any other blocks allows players to escape within 15 seconds of starting the game.

    Newest Version: v1.1

    DOWNLOAD v1.1
    The Facility v1.1zip

Hopefully this game is fun and challenging, and I am probably going to post a spoiler with explanations to the many plot holes (I did attempt a sorta-plot) and a walkthrough. Have fun and please report any breaks.

Trust me, the game ends with a bang. (Quite literally ;D)

EDIT: Version 1.1, Mediafire download. Fixed a redstone error by putting in repeaters. This is necessary unless you want to die at the end.

posted a message on Question on maps...?
I am sorry about the title, it almost always means the topic contains, "were do i find dimandz i need help plz i lost in cav wit noe..." Anyway, you get the point. I actually just had a question about what can go in this sub-forum of Mapping and Modding. I have literally built a linear map in a world, and I was wondering if I could submit it in here, or if this section is only for map generators and mods. This map is an obstacle/challenge course type map if it helps. It was built using INVedit and MCEdit. If this is not the right place to post the map, then can someone please direct me to the proper place?

    Thanks.
