Due to lack of time, I am unable to continue this service. If anyone wants to continue this, let me know and I'll link to you here.
Ever had trouble installing mods? Want to make several mods work together, but keep running into item ID conflicts? Not sure whether to use Modloader or Forge? Let me help!
I am here to announce a brand new service: Minecraft Customization!
Here is how it works:
1) You tell me which mods you want, together with any other relevant details.
2) I download all the mods (thru ad.fly links when available)
2) I build the instance in MultiMC, tweaking the configs as needed.
3) I remove the minecraft jar and related files from the instance, and set it to redownload when you start it up.
3) I zip up the instance and send it to you.
4) You drop the instance in your MultiMC folder, and play!
Notes: If the mods permit inclusion in at least a private modpack, I won't redownload them of course, since that is redundant.
Want to get started? Shoot me a PM with the mods you want and whether you are using Windows, Mac, or Linux.
Just as a note, I am just getting this started, so things may be a bit disorganized at first. Eventually, I will be able to
Successfully completed packs so far: 6
Some notes:
Some very generous individuals have expressed a desire to donate to me. Unfortunately, for many reasons, I am unable to accept money at this time. I would much rather you send the money to a worthy cause. A good one is the Red Cross, to help the victims of the recent tornado in Oklahoma.
FAQ
Q) Wait, aren't you technically building a modpack?
A) Yes, however I am only doing so at your request and only for your use. Please do not publicly distribute these packs unless the license terms of all the mods permit.
Q) What if the mod licenses prohibit mod packs?
A) I am technically only performing actions for you at your direction. I download the mods afresh for each instance, clicking on ad.fly links when available. It is as if I was at your computer setting it up for you. The link you will use to download it is private, and is not to be shared. After you acknowledge that it works, I disable the link. If the pack is not downloaded within a week, I will also disable it.
Q) I want to make a modpack for my server. Is this okay? What about a public modpack?
A) Only if all the mod license terms permit. I will not ask the mod authors for you. That is your responsibility, and you must demonstrate that you have done so before I will even think about building your pack. If I have reason to believe that you will be publicly releasing this, I reserve the right to refuse to build it.
However, I can send you the config files for distributing to your users if they install the mods themselves.
Q) Can I share the pack with my friends?
A) I have no issue with it, and I imagine that it wouldn't be a problem with the licenses.
Q) Isn't it illegal to distribute the Minecraft Jar?
A) Yes, which is why I remove it before sending it to you (along with all the other binary bits).
Q) I am a mod author, and I really don't want you to include my mod in the packs you build
A) Well, I really think I am increasing the audience for your mod, and, since I do exactly what a user would do to get and install the mod, I am not depriving you of any income or attribution. However, if you feel strongly about this, feel free to PM me and we can talk about it.
Q) How long does it take?
A) It's impossible to say. Sometimes I'm a bit busy with RL, but I'll try to shoot for getting stufhttp://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/1000645-multimc-43-windows-linux-mac/f out within a few days.
Q) Do you have to use MultiMC? Can't you just mod my jar directly?
A) Unfortunately not. I do not have a (legal) means of doing this. MultiMC allows me to remove all the compiled bits of Minecraft and set them to redownload when you execute it. Now that you have MultiMC, you can make more instances and more mod setups, as many as you please. Check out this topic for more info: http://www.minecraft...dows-linux-mac/

Change "could" to "definitely would," unless the mod is open source, as the smpsh said. And if it is open source, you have to follow the terms yourself unless the mod author gives you a special license to do otherwise. Doesn't appear to be an issue here, but just clarifying for other people who are reading.

Lightsabers and blasters.
I am not an artist, and I think my blasters especially look ugly.
Maybe you can do better.
Btw, awesome avatar
