Half slabs covering the TOP.They will still spawn underneathHis problem is the island spawns too many monsters on the TOP.This will fix his problem

Classes they should add:
Cave spider(VIP)=cobweb(sharpness II knock back II)16 splash potions of poison
Horse(normal)=saddle(knock back II sharpness I)and has infinite speed effect.
Wolf(VIP)=Bone(sharpness II Knockback III)
Charges Creeper(Gem)=bow(can shoot tnt,infinity I)

He doesn't want them to completely stop spawning and a mushroom biome would do that.Mushroom biomes only allow Mooshrooms bats and squids to spawn.

Got another idea spawn the different color sheep,spawn hostile enderman,spawn hostile zombie pigman,spawn tamed wolf,spawn tamed ocelot,spawn hostile wolf,spawn tamed horse mule and donkey and spawn hostile iron golem

Then make some sticks and a wooden pickaxe.Get stone craft a stone axe pickaxe sword and a furnace.Find a cave get coal craft torches and spare some for the furnace get iron make a full set of iron tools get gold and diamonds craft a diamond pick sword and shovel then a full set of iron armor.Next get flint feathers and sticks to craft arrows get string to craft a bow mine 18 obsidian use 2 diamonds 4 obsidian and kill a cow for leather and get sugar cane for paper then craft a book to craft an enchantment table.Enchant your diamond tools and iron armor then gt flit and iron to craft flint and steel use the other 14 obsidian to make a nether portal then light it.Find a fortress kill blazes craft a brewing stand the use the rest for blaze power.Get nether wart and kill ghast and magma cubes for potion ingredients.Craft glass bottles and fill them with water find water and place your brewing stand next to it.Brew lots of potions kill enderman and use the pearls for eye of Enders find a stronghold fix the end portal jump in and kill the ender dragon.Come out go back to the nether hunt wither skeletons collect there skulls and soul sand summon the wither craft a beacon and your done
