So for the past few days, I haven't been able to open Minecraft whatsoever. I have the .exe file and start it up, and....nothing. Not a log in screen, not a blip of the game window, just nothing. I've tried redownloading, using different launchers (spoutcraft for example has the same problem) but a cracked version of Minecraft did actually work. I've also tried reinstalling java, restarting my computer (obviously lol) and deleting the .bin (and then force updating using the cracked copy). Other details are that I'm running Minecraft in a 1gb RAMdisk, but it still has 32mb left (yeah not a lot but I don't see why that would not let it run) and that my graphics card has strange issues that I've discussed here before. Again, I don't see why that would make it stop working as other games work perfectly fine. I'm thinking the problem might be java, but I don't know what else to do.
Oh and I used the "Advanced Minecraft Error Test" program too. Here's the output of that.

Why have you not contacted the manufactures about these problems? Most graphics cards have a 2-3 year warranty (IDK if you're in that time frame) and I believe Intel processors have a 3 year warranty on them as well.
Well sadly, I bought my card "New" but not really new. It was from a 3rd party vendor which apparently only had a 30 day warranty on the card. 3 months in, I start getting BSODs. Idk if AMD/ATI has any specific warranty outside of what the vendor gives you, but I don'tt really know.As for the 100% core issue, I seem to have semi-solved it. I'll still try what you guys are talking about, but after doing a few computer restarts it seems to have settled down. I also took off this "Virtu" software that's supposed to switch back and forth between integrated and dedicated graphics, but clearly it wasn't going too well. Idk if that was the problem or not, but I'll try the other stuff and get back to you.
So as some of you know, I've had issues with my graphics card in the past. I've had issues with my CPU freaking out on me and stuttering the entire computer. Now I have both happening at the same time. Graphics card's a screw up, I got over that problem awhile ago. I just have to deal with the fact that it's a 200$ ticking time bomb that doesn't work like it should. As for my cpu, I don't normally have any complaints. It's a Core i5 2400 @3.1ghz. Fairly good and does what I need it to do....most of the time. Lately, it's been giving me grief by running up one of its cores to 100% and leaving the rest barely going. However, this only occurs when playing a game. Otherwise, it's not a problem. Minecraft, Uberstrike, TF2, are all effected by this problem. Oh and like I'm sure some of you realize, when the CPU shoots to 100% on one core, it stutters the computer horribly. Freezes up the sound, video, everything for a second or two. This makes it next to impossible to play games.
Also I know some of you won't remember or know, but my GPU is a HD 5870 and it gives me 2-3 BSOD's a week on a regular basis. I don't get a single BSOD when running off integrated graphics, so that's why I assume it's the graphics card.
Anyway, really getting fed up with this computer. I put a lot of money, time and effort into getting this thing to work like I want it to, and I can't just keep throwing money at it.
So I'm curious to know, what are your opinions on the Sony VIAO line of Laptops? Overpriced? Good? Bad? I'm not currently buying a laptop but college is not too far off for me and I want to see what you guys think of them. Thanks!
From what I heard, the problem they're suing over this time is something to do with Google's "Siri" competitor. Fact is, Apple didn't create Voice Search. They only put it into Siri and suddenly, sue like mad cause everyone's copying us.
Yeah I sadly have that same issue with my 5870. Keeping for now until I can afford a new card later on. BSOD's somewhere between 2-4 times a week usually. Frustrating but I just back up everything from my ramdisk and other than that, everything else has self recovery.
I know some Minecraft commentators use logitech headsets (ethoslab for example uses logitech g330). I've personally used the Logitech H530's for recording and it they work great. Now a lot of the more "audiophiles" (I mean that in the nicest way :P) on here will most likely tell you to get something else, but with that comes the price factor. I got my H530's for 25$ on clearance @ Target as opposed to 50$. As for suggestions, what is you're actual budget? I know it's not super high but is it like 20$ or 40$?

Yeah I'm glad I bought my 19in 1440x900 16:10 monitor when I did. Got it on sale for 70-80$. And even though it's not full HD, I don't really mind too much. I'm planning on getting a full HD monitor in the future anyway to replace my 1024x768 15in second monitor lol
I know Docm77 went with a LGA 2011 cpu too. And he recently got a 680. However, Doc actually stresses Minecraft more than most with his massive amount of structures and villagers. Still overkill, but he needs it more than Antvenom does.
People say you can overclock it to match the 570, but the same people don't seem to realize that you can overclock the 570 too.
Mhmmm. They're around the same price (give or take $10-20) so the 570 still makes sense. And just to mention, the HD version isn't one of those "Twin Frozr" or other types of duel fan designs. It's a very tiny change that seems the only difference is in length (9 inch vs 10.5) and the location of the fan.
Also, IMO, the best bang for buck card right now is the 7850 (until the 660 comes out I think unless Nvidia screwed up and it sucks) so if you can get that I honestly recommend it.
One last question, the model I'm looking at is the "Gtx 570 HD". I've read around and basically it's a shorter and slightly changed cooler to the reference design. I'm assuming it won't make a huge difference?
