There is alot of ways to get food in Minecraft, but I think the fast way to get food is to kill animals. You also can plant wheat seeds to get wheat and craft bread with them. The trees also gives red apple some times. "Food" on Minecraft Wiki.
Yeah, but wheat takes too long to grow. And when I kill animals, I feel like I'm killing too much. As for apples, the chance for them to spawn is very low. Plus, they don't give much hunger back.
This is probably in the wrong section, but I couldn't post in the Tutorials/FAQ's section for some reason.
Ever since the 1.0 update came out, (or whichever update added breeding) it's been rather hard for me to find food on the first night without killing all the animals. Any suggestions?
DO NOT put anything in the server-ip= line. In nearly all cases you want it blank.
I'll assume you're absolutely, positively 100% sure that your local IP on your network is 150. If forwarding is set right and the server is configured and running, then the only things that could be blocking it are av/firewall, or your ISP.
You can test if its the av/firewall by disabling it for a minute, starting the server, and testing if connections are getting through. I personally like using http://www.yougetsignal.com/tools/open-ports/ . It also gives you your public IP as well if you don't use something like no-ip. If the firewall was the issue, then you can just add an acception for minecratf or java or just the port. Depends on what you use.
You can also come by #MinecraftHelp if you need more help :tongue.gif:
Thank you for the advice. Will try these things later and I'll give feedback.
I have this problem too. But I do not know whether to use my external IP address or my Internal IP address. When I run the server anyone inside my household or LAN can connect, but nobody outside can. You have 2 possible problems. One is that you don't have an IP entered in your server properties!!! Number 2, which could be my problem, is there is an antivirus software blocking income connections for you. I would like this problem to be solved too!
I've been told to not to enter an IP in my server.properties (and it worked last time.) If you're correct on the antivirus software theory, then can someone tell me how to let the port go through Avast?
I have port-forwarded before, but now for some reason, it's not working. I'm using a Motorola SBG941 router.
My port settings:
My server.properties:
SimplePortChecker:
Even though it says that the port 25565 is open, my friends say they can't connect to my server (they're using my external IP, of course.) The error they say they're getting is "Connect timed out: connect"
Anyone have any ideas why it's not working?
I can't seem to connect to your server. I got white-listed and I'm in your Hamachi server, but when I try to connect to 5.92.121.126 (Minecraft), it says Connection timed out: connect. Help?
this is exactly how the server.properties looks:
#Minecraft server properties
#Sat Dec 31 00:18:07 EST 2011
allow-nether=true
level-name=Sky City
allow-flight=false
enable-query=false
server-port=25565
enable-rcon=false
level-seed=
server-ip=
white-list=true
spawn-animals=true
online-mode=true
pvp=false
difficulty=1
gamemode=1
max-players=2
spawn-monsters=false
view-distance=10
motd=lococatserver
Ah, now I see it. Does the world folder that you guys are playing happen to be called world or Sky City?
Just like Vallex said, make sure you tell us what error you're getting, and what you're brother is getting. Also, did you you edit anything in the server.properties, like editing the port or IP?
A good way to check where the monsters are coming from is by using F3 and look for the mob IDs. Then, go towards it and find the problem, which might be low lighting or a mob spawner beneath the floor, above the ceiling, or through the walls.

Just to clarify, and make it a little clearer:
Correct way
Incorrect way
If this wasn't your problem, then could you post a screenshot of what yours looks like?
