posted a message on [CTM][Collection] Vechs' SUPER HOSTILE Series (Spellbound Caves II out now!)
    Quote from Advorange

There are invisible ladders, but they only block about (maybe) 25% of the block area.

Actually, invisible ladders (65:0) take up a full block's space, so you can place them just like any other block.

posted a message on Can't Start Minecraft
Recently, whenever I have tried to start Minecraft, it will crash even before the launcher appears. I tried to download the client again, but that doesn't seem to fix it. If I try to start Minecraft, instead of the launcher appearing, I just get this error:

Speaking of old as crap things, Vechs should update Inkblot Island. That is all.

Inkblot Island II would make a good addition to the Super Hostile series!

posted a message on Something about the tripwire's string
    Quote from LeSieg

I find string used for tripwire upsetting. On one hand, I can never see it when I place it, leading to mild annoyance at trying to place string. On the other hand, if they make it more noticeable, there's no point to "traps".

    First-world problems, indeed.

Maybe they could make it so the tripwire is extremely noticeable when you place it, but it changes back to being hard to see once the entire tripwire is built. It kind of works that way already, where the wire will become almost transparent once the tripwire connection is complete, but it still needs to be more noticeable before the connection is completed.

posted a message on How do i keep my little brother out of my stuff?
Explain to your parents that your account is who you are recognised as online, and that by letting your brother on your account, everyone who recognises that username will think it is you, much like how if someone who knew your name well but doesn't remember your face will think the same way if your brother suddenly starts using your name instead of his. If your parents don't understand, try to explain it further, noting how dangerous it can be to let people think your brother is you, online. Try to use real-world comparisons that they will be able to understand, such as how you wouldn't let someone else use your Social Security Number.

If your parents still force you to give your password to your brother, then, in a more direct tone, explain to them that you know more about technology in general and that you know what you are doing better than they do, so they shouldn't be telling you what to do in a situation where you are the expert. Back up your argument with logical reasoning, and don't be too harsh, or else your parents might not take you serously and think you are just being defiant.

If that doesn't work, you might just have to deal with it. After awhile, you could get evidence to support your argument, such as being banned from servers, but if they arn't convinced now then they probably arn't taking you serously, and probably won't later, either.

EDIT: I don't think changing your password to something your brother can't enter will help, because your brother will blame it on you and your parents will be mad, just as normal. The real problem here isn't that your brother is getting into your accounts, it is that your parents are forcing you to let him. You need to convince your parents to change their ways first (Not an easy task, but likely the only perminant one.), and then it will just be as simple as changing your password one last time.

Where do you get your dry ice? The kind I've seen can be held for around 10 seconds before anything bad happens, and isn't really that cold, so you can't do as much with it.

posted a message on Schools - Do They Teach What We Need to Know?
While the basics are important, I don't think we should spend too much time teaching them. We should teach the better, not more. While knowing how addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division work, as well as doing simple problems in your head is important, caculators should be used for more complex problems, because any extra time spent thinking of how to do these problems is wasted if your caculator could do it faster, plus, if you really needed to do them in your head, most of the complex problems are just made up of multiple simple problems, so if you know your multiplication and division tables (My school taught them from 1x1 to 12x12, although I know some schools only go up to 10x10.), you should be able to do most algebra problems easally. Having said that, it is important to teach these basics well, because if people don't know the basics, they will most likely fail with the more complex ones because they are made from basic problems.

Also, if we can teach the basics quicker and better, that gives us more time to teach the more complex stuff. I don't like how people assume that just because a kid is young, they can't do complex problems. The only reason they can't is because we refuse to teach them until a later time! At my school, we spent grades 1-6 learning the basics: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and manipulation of positive and negative numbers, as well as word problems. Then, grades 7 and 8 were assigned to "Pre-Algebra," which is basically just the beginning of algebra and geometry taught over the course of 2 years. Finally, by 9th grade, we can start Algebra I, the beginning of the complicated stuff. Unfortinutely, the first half year of Algebra I, as well as the first half of Geometry is mostly just the same stuff we learned in Pre-Algebra, because most people forgot that stuff because, unlike basic math, a subject was only taught once and then the class moved on to the next subject, meaning few people remembered it. Furthermore, the new stuff learned in those classes aren't really "new," but instead they are just more in-depth verisions of, once again, the basics. This means it isn't until 11th grade that most students learn the real complex subjects found in Algebra II (At least it works that way in my school. We take Algebra I, then Geometry, then Algebra II.), and then you just have 11th and 12th grade left until you graduate, and unless you have a plan to go to collage, which costs lots of money, that is all you really learn, just 2 years worth of the actual, non-basic stuff.

And this doesn't just apply to math, either. This trend can be seen in all of the core subjects: Math, Science, History, and English. Overall, high school isn't really teaching you the subject, but teaching you how to learn the subject by going over the simple stuff, then going more and more in-depth as time goes by. That works great if you plan on going to collage, but nowdays many people can't afford to, or just don't want to, so they arn't really getting the knowledge of the subject they think they are, just the building blocks for that knowledge.

Minecraft is blocked at schools because it is a game, and they don't want you playing games when your supposed to be learning.

If you really want to, though, download this and put it onto a flash drive. (Use at your own risk, don't blame me when you get caught)

The new download site (4shared) seems ok, I guess. While being able to view and download all of the files from one list is nice, I don't really like how you need an account to download, as well as the 20 second download time, although I guess it isn't too bad since you'll only need to download when a new map comes out, and after registering, you only need to wait 20 more seconds than you would have before.
