So in the near future I hope to be getting myself a new gaming computer (built by me) and was wondering:
Can I download MineCraft onto that computer using my account? I know I can keep the save files, I'll just load em onto a flash drive and such, but what about the game itself?
(Probably a newbish question, but I am genuinely curious.)
Can't wait for this to come out. Only problem is my MC is running like crap lately. Literally, I'm hitting a max of 9fps when looking at the sky on max fog, and 4fps when normally walking around.
I think it's my lappy, something I must have done... but this sucks balls. I hope to fix this before EC3 comes out.
Episode 16 is here. I journey (not far) to get some musical discs.
The quality seems kinda shoddy a.t.m. but I think it's cause YT hasn't finished rendering it all yet.
This is turning into somewhat of an interesting topic, but it's a shame that I don't usually understand computer-speak as well as most people.
It does baffle me that MineCraft uses so much of a computers resources, that the lag problems are so frequent for some (myself for sure) that it, at times, is nearly unbearable to even attempt to play.
Especially since I was just playing, walked quite a distance south of my base and started to set up a simple little base enclosed by cobble and glass to wait out the night, stored a bunch of items in a chest...... and then the game crashed.
--When I reopened the game and my World, all the blocks I had placed were GONE and so was the chest, the items in it. It can be really frustrating at times to deal with such errors, where ever they may come from.
So seeing as I don't know enough about what a game is doing while running, I cannot understand why MC is the way it is.
I think I understand in a basic sense, but I don't even know how I would explain it.
Nearly the whole world is destructible, yes. So all units of information loaded must be constantly watched over by your computers resources, to see whether any of those units of information (blocks) has changed.
--Plus almost always needing to do lighting calculations as the sun/moon moves, or if a torch is placed will contribute to the problems.
Is there not a few things Notch can implement in the game that would reduce the load?
I guess, my question is basically whether or not he can add a slider for telling MC how much RAM you want it to use, while having in place a set minimum.
Or as some games have, a graphics level ranging from low, med, to high which would merely effect the block 'graininess'.
First World I Generated, I still have from August 2010.
Size 14.4 MB
-Spent more time building than exploring.
-Exploring done was underground in caves, relatively close to my base.
However, after a recent game crash, my save is listed as ~0.7 MB, and my spawn point is different as a result. Not sure, how/why this happened.

Is the list of things to accomplish posted somewhere? Or did it come with the download only?

I played EC1 and EC2, and it was said that EC3 would be coming out around this time... yet I haven't heard any mention of it.
Anyone who has played these mini-games know what I'm talking about?
Any ideas?
Thanks.
