posted a message on Trinkets - Rebalanced
I'd like to emphasize that trinkets are mainly for incredibly early game players (using glass/gold trinkets, who can't enchant yet) or late game players with XP farms. My original version had the prices set incredibly low, meaning that if you used your XP farm you could be continuously fueled by trinkets. Yes, a lot of these may be detrimental, and I'll adjust the prices, but the point is that, with an XP farm, the ridiculous prices no longer have any effect.

I probably deserved it, but I realized that the creative portions and the survival portions of a server were on the same world; so I set my home in a survival area, then went back to the main nexus at the server entrance, took the creative world portal, and pulled out a compass. Two hours of ceaseless flying later and I entered the survival domain, where I started walking to not look suspicious. I then gave my faction stacks and stacks of diamonds and obsidian, then took a few hours out of my life to build a castle made from self rebuilding walls, the generators behind three layers of obsidian, a self rebuilding passcode gate wherein putting in the code would just stop the generators for ten seconds, and an incredibly extensive underground base for my entire faction. Then someone from my own faction (the traitor) reported me for hacking. I explained how I had done it, and it was a legitimate exploit in the map; but got banned anyway. Probably because I decided to box the enemy faction's bedrooms in bedrock. I returned with someone else's account, and sure enough, no admin cleared away my castle... or the bedrock. And that d@mn traitor was now leader of my faction, living in the palace I had built.

posted a message on Trinkets - Rebalanced
Dear Admins, yes, I already made a post very similar to this, but for some reason I was unable to edit it. This is a rebalanced and expanded rewrite of my original Trinkets suggestion.

NOTE: As a new addition to the idea, pressing R at any point enables/disables the trinket. This is meant as a response to those who stated the trinket would drain their XP too quickly.

The Trinket will be a simple item in Minecraft, the only purpose of which is to affect chance in subtle ways. But first, how are they made? Look at the recipe for buckets, placing string on the two side ingots. The central ingot can be either glass, gold, lapis, quartz, diamond or emerald.

So why would you want to make a trinket? To give you that edge, to tip chance just slightly in your favor. But there is a cost; each time a Trinket's effects are used, a portion of your Experience is deducted. If you don't have enough Experience, the Trinket fails.

All of the effects on Diamond level will also require the trinket to be enchanted first. Note that an Enchanted trinket can only be enchanted for a single effect; thus no one could stack multiple Enchantment effects together. However, Diamond level enchantments need at least 30 levels sacrificed at the enchanting table; if not, then one or more of the existing effects will be enhanced.

Possible Trinket effects will be listed below, alongside their costs and the minimum material needed for their effect. At the end of each effect will be the effects if the trinket were enchanted with that effect. Suggest more in replies.

    Glass

Note: Glass Trinkets are meant for the early game, and to reflect the lack of value in real world glass jewelry, effects are deliberately weak in Glass. Glass trinkets cannot be enchanted.

Dodge Arrow: A 5% chance (escalating by another 5% per material tier used) chance to ignore being struck by an arrow at the cost of three levels. Enchanted version: 10%, 15% and 20% extra chance.

Extinguish Flame: A 5% chance (escalating by another 5% per material tier used) per second when on fire to extinguish the flame at the cost of a level. Enchanted version: 20%, 40% and 60% extra chance.

Firm Ground: A 5% chance (escalating by another 5% per material tier used) to ignore knock-back whenever hit. Enchanted version: 10%, 15% and 20% extra chance.

Perfect Senses: A 5% chance (escalating by another 5% per material tier used) per second to force mobs to make some sound if not in the player's line of sight every second, at the cost of half a level. Creepers will make a quieter version of their hiss. Enchanted version: 5%, 10% and 15% extra chance.

    Gold/Lapis/Quartz

Note that enchanting Gold trinkets is half as expensive as enchanting any other, including Lapis and Quartz.

Deep Breath: When out of air, you will have a 25% chance per second of sacrificing a level for a single air bubble. Enchanted version: 25%, 50% and 75% extra chance. If enchanted at all, you move 10%, 15% and 20% faster in water for 3, 4 and 5 seconds respectively whenever triggered.

Force: A 5% chance to cause Knockback I with every attack at the cost of two levels, or if your weapon is enchanted with Knockback I, Knockback II. If your weapon is enchanted with Knockback II, the opponent is flung even further back. Enchanted version: 5%, 10% and 15% extra chance respectively.

Fortune: You will have a 5% chance when mining Coal, 3% chance when mining Lapis and 1% chance when mining Diamonds or Emeralds to receive double the normal amount from a single ore block, at the cost of five levels for coal and lapis, and twenty levels for diamonds and emeralds. Enchanted version: 1%, 2% and 3% extra chance respectively.

Survivor: Whenever taking damage from hunger, you have a 10% chance every five seconds of sacrificing two levels for temporary Nourishment, stopping the damage for a while. Enchanted version: 10%, 20% and 30% extra chance respectively.

    Diamond/Emerald

Note: Please read the section directly before the list, explaining on what is required for these effects to trigger.

Brink of Death: Upon death, you lose forty levels and come back with half a heart. This is not overpowered; if you were killed in a fight, for example, it would do nothing to help as a single hit from anything would kill you. This is meant more for accidental deaths; for example, a fatal fall.

Command the Storm: If striking an opponent while a storm is taking place overhead (not including desert biomes or the nether), there is a 10% chance of using thirty levels whenever you strike an opponent for the target to be struck by lightning. Note that this lightning also damages you, judging by how close you are to the target to be within striking distance. This is a WIP idea, please do not allow Command the Storm to affect your opinions on the overall suggestion.

Holy Light: A 15% chance whenever struck by an undead mob to set fire to them, as if they were under the sun, at a cost of five levels.

Precognition: A 25% chance per second with hostile mobs in front of you to show where their AI will take them say, three seconds later, with a silhouette that lasts a few seconds. Uses a full level whenever this occurs.

Second Wind: If at two hearts or less, and if you take no damage and do not sprint for at least eight seconds, you regenerate as if you were playing on Peaceful. Second Wind fails as soon as you start sprinting or taking damage. Uses a full level for every heart regenerated by Second Wind. Can only be used once per day.

    FAQ

Q: Wouldn't this be overpowered with XP farms?

A: No more overpowered than getting fully enchanted Diamond armor with complete resistance to everything, and one hit kill Diamond weaponry, by the same means.

    Q: Wouldn't this unbalance PVP?

A: First, lets ignore the steep divide between players who have iron weapons and those who have spent long enough on a server to afford full Diamond armor. This would give players an edge, if a small one, over Minecraft mobs and helps them survive, but Trinkets are cheap enough that even early game players will be able to afford at least a gold trinket by the end of their first mining expedition. Like all items, the Trinket has better versions for better players, but I'm sure all players can afford an iron sword within a few hours; and while it may not match that of an experienced player, the addition of different tier Trinkets is no more unbalanced than different materials of Sword.

Q: Isn't this just a blatant copy of Trinkets from ____?

A: Whatever the game, book, mod or film you are about to point me to is, never heard of it. The idea for Trinkets came when I was writing a gamebook, and decided that there should be ways to influence the Luck stat. Reading through old Steve Jackson gamebooks, I noticed that occasionally, you could pick up Trinkets to restore your Luck that. That is the main inspiration.

Q: I dislike the terrible idea of Command the Storm, so I'm going to scream 'NO SUPPORT' in full caps.

A: I can't stop you, only punch my screen in frustration, but bear in mind that Command the Storm is a WIP idea; I'll probably take it out of the suggestion.

Q: I'm going to scream negative criticism in full caps with no explanation because I was always assured I would grow up to be an astronaut when I grew up, and now only McDonalds answered my job resume, and this is the only way I can work off my frustration.

A: 'Facepalm', all right, but could you please explain why you dislike the suggestion? And not in caps, please?

Q: I'm going to provide sarcastic negative criticism picking up on things you didn't even say and deliberately misinterpret what you did to draw away any supporters because my parents always assured me I would become President when I grew up, and now I'm stuck as a blue collar worker, doing, 'gasp', work that involves physical work instead of just exercising my fingers on a keyboard.

A: 'Facedesk', you know, you are far worse than the previous example I gave, because it is far harder for others to tell whether or not you are trolling. There was a time when I made a suggestion for a type of swamp gas, and stated it can only destroy leaves. The first reply centered around how he doesn't want his mansion to be 'destroyed by magic swamp gas that somehow doesn't destroy leaves', when my post clearly stated it could only destroy leaves. A good idea gets beaten to a pulp by someone who deliberately misread it. And that first sarcastic, negative reply from our dear would-be President can never be erased from the first page.

posted a message on Forge deleting items?
I loaded Minecraft Forge onto a world I had spent months on, and found... all my items missing. My chests were all empty, as was my inventory. All placed blocks were still there, but no items. I had made a backup of the same world earlier, but still... Any solutions? Trying to get Mo'creatures and Balkon's weapon mod to work without loosing my items.

If it helps, I was using Minecraft 1.8 (latest version), but Forge was only out for 1.7.10. So I had to downgrade one version, making a small sacrifice of my andesite, granite and diorite.

posted a message on Your best Facepalm moments
This happened to someone with around 400+ hours on Minecraft. Me. This made it all the more embarrassing; I considered myself an expert on the matter.

All right, I had started a new survival world, and built a mansion right above a massive cave. I walked for ten minutes to find two horses and bring them back; then I decided I wanted to set up a ranch. So I checked, and sure enough, I needed golden apples or carrots. I thought golden apples were too expensive, and so went for carrots; and for that, I got on my boat, sailed for twenty minutes across an ocean, and then walked half an hour to find a village. I then realized I had no compass, and was completely and utterly lost. With my only set of diamond equipment and armor. Facepalm.

And so I did the only thing that came to mind; I went down a mine, got some redstone, half a stack of diamonds, and two stacks of iron. I got to an abandoned mineshaft, built a crafting table and made a compass. Now I was ready to head back. Then I saw some cobblestone I had used in that cave to block up some lava. I wondered where that had come from; I had been mining in the cave for a full hour, it had slipped my mind. And yes, dear reader, I stood on the cobblestone, took out my diamond pickaxe, and mined straight down. Facepalm.

That was the only time I used cheats; I opened Mceditor and teleported myself to the ocean outside my mansion.

posted a message on The Vvardenfell Mod (Morrowind) (Elder Scrolls)
I know that there are already a few Elder Scrolls mods out there, but this is one specifically angled towards one game. Released in 2002, this was where the series broke new ground, stepping away from 2D Sprites into 3D Polygons. While its map is the smallest in any Elder Scrolls game (only three and a half miles), the terrain is exotic enough, the variety large enough, and the story engaging enough that I decided to try my hand at a mod.

But to truly do such a great game justice, I need more than myself. And so I call out to other modmakers to assist me. Even if you bare no love for Morrowind, as long as you have any skill with RPG mods, or even just map making, you are welcomed. But for those of you who have not played Morrowind, allow me to refresh you on it, and what distinguishes it, both from other generic RPGs and other Elder Scrolls games.

    Compared to other games

Why is Morrowind so different from other RPGs of its time? One word. Freedom. The player could be anyone they want to be. The player can go anywhere they want. They can choose what quests to take. They can even choose which characters to kill, all of their own free will. Now take the completely linear Final Fantasy X, released for the first time in 2002, at the same time as Morrowind. Does it let you decide to forget the Main Quest and do something else? No. Does it let you direct every aspect of your character? No.

And what makes it different from previous Elder Scrolls games? First, the land. While it may seem like the smallest open world in any Elder Scrolls game (I am not including titles like Battlespire, as those were not Open World), put yourself in this situation. Would you play a game in a generic fantasy world with elves, dragons and aged old wizards/Greybeards (Skyrim), or would you choose the game that put you in an exotic, foreign locale that had the appearance of an alien planet (Morrowind)?

Morrowind gives you more control over your character. First, what spells can you use in Skyrim? Is it a finite number? Then list the different weapons you can use. Swords, daggers, axes, maces, warhammers, battleaxes, bows, crossbows, greatswords, and well, I believe this is embarrassing, but I can't think of any more.

Now, Morrowind has not just more possible spell effects (many of Skyrim's spells are just tweaked stats of other Skyrim spells), but they can be mixed. Want to cast a Levitation spell that paralyzes your opponent simultaneously, sending him flying to high heaven unable to move? Get Morrowind, since you can't find either of those spells in Skyrim, never mind put them together. Want to deliberately infect an opponent with a disease? Once again, Morrowind. And you can mix these for different effects at any Mages' Guild.

But what about the weapons? Allow me to list them. Daggers, shortswords, longswords, greatswords, spears, axes, battleaxes, warhammers, bows, throwing stars, darts, crossbows, melee combat staffs, you get the point (pun not intended). And think about lost skills from one game to the next. Have you been able to levitate to the top of High Hrothgar, or silence an enemy halfway through his spell? I thought not. Have you been able to improve your Acrobatics with each jump, until you could cross ravines in a short hop? I thought not.

So what will this mod do? I've gone on too long about the game, time to get to the mod already.

-Every Morrowind NPC, courtesy of the required Custom NPCs mod, complete with all their dialogue.

-A spell system containing each of Morrowind's possible spell effects, allowing you to pluck them from your inventory and cast. This will require a new stat, Mana.

-Supported Multiplayer - a separate object for each player. Meaning that, for example, you loot a dungeon, and the next player will still find the same loot when he comes. If this means too complex code, it will be removed. If this idea is implemented, all NPCs to do with quests and all merchants will be immortal, unable to be killed, for the convenience of other players.

-A skill system that increases your statistics the more you do something. For example, fighting with your bare hands does more damage the more you do it, you get more accurate with a bow, and so on.

-A leveling system that gives you a single level every ten skill upgrades. This allows you to upgrade three attributes each time, such as Strength, Agility, Speed and Personality.

-A stealth system that functions on a plugin for the Custom NPCs mod, allowing you to sneak past them depending on your Stealth skill, or kill them unnoticed with more damage when unseen.

-A pickpocket system that allows you to loot certain items from living NPCs. Push your luck, and they notice.

-Every quest included in the main game, not including expansions

-The entirety of Vvardenfell (around three and a half miles), and all its cities, villages, caverns, mines and dungeons.

-Every main item in the game. Enchanted objects apart from quest required enchanted objects not included - these will be improvised by those creating the shops and dungeons that drop them.

-Every creature in Vvardenfell, spawning in its own specific biome.

-Every spell type in Morrowind as an enchantment

-Block destruction system; you can't mine or build, but you can destroy certain materials with certain weapons, or bring it crashing down with spells.

-A 'party' system if Multiplayer mode passes; this will increase the amount of loot members find, but must be split between them.

More information on the spell system
'Self, Touch, Target? What does that even mean?'

It is simple, dear reader. 'Self' are spells directed at the caster, such as healing yourself. 'Touch' hit something directly in front of you, such as healing someone else, or casting a short range attack. 'Target' are ranged spells that hit targets at a distance.

    How do spells work?

Think of an additional stat, Magicka. This 'Magicka' depends on your Intelligence attribute for how much you have, and Willpower attribute for how fast it regenerates. Each spell is an enchanted book you need to buy from a vendor or find in a dungeon. If you have the book selected, you can left click to cast your spell. This will drain Magicka in relation to the type of spell, subtracting the drain depending on your skill with that particular type of magic.

But what about Self, Touch, Target? Isn't that system broken if normal enchanted books are none of those things?

Each Enchanted Book you find is one of those three types. So no, the system is intact.

You said we could create spells. How?

You could do it two ways. The crude way is placing two enchanted books together in an anvil, combining them to create a more costly, yet more powerful, spell. The elaborate way costs a large amount of Septims (Morrowind currency), but lets you keep the initial spells. This can be done at any Mages' Guild, where you choose the different effects, whether the overall spell will be Touch, Target or Self, and then it calculates the price.
Multiplayer?

Possibly. If you check the features section, you would notice that it said 'could be removed.' Still, if the multiplayer system passes, quests will be split into two types. Solo and multiplayer; the first containing little challenge and little loot, the second requiring the formation of a 'party' to enter, and sharing in a large amount of loot.

I want to apply to create this mod.

In that case, first read the requirements.
