    Quote from Kyle_IchiNi

I usually just use a piston to complete the circuit for the clock when I want it to run. Basically, use the fact that redstone powers a block that then can transfer 90 out to a repeater (Or use a setup that doesn't need another repeater, easy enough to edit)

    Stopped:
    <snip>

    Running:
    <snip>

Wow, that's a lot more complicated that it should be ^^
Here, screens of what I tried to describe:

The switch just basically turns off one torch :ohmy.gif:

This version turns off the 4 torches at once for an immediate stop:

I use this clock (and variation) quite a lot and figured out a way to switch it on/off: add a switch (or wire) on the side of any block that has a torch on top of it, that will shut the torch down so that the loop won't connect when the block is on top of the said torch.

No, the pixel coordinates of used paintings is in the game code.
The only one in the pic you posted is the 4x4 painting on the right of the two on the bottom, which was added in an update not too long ago (You'll notice ingame you sometimes place a violet 4x4 painting)

Uhm, azraeil, I think you should go to bed. The last time I checked you were able to write shaders and you were smart enough to understand that it has already been said 1000 times that optimine isn't compatible :tongue.gif:

    This is called "sarcasm".

Poor dax, I follow this thread for quite a while now and half of everything I see is users asking the same questions again and again..

    People.
Either wait for a final version or something or learn C, GLSL is C it's not that hard. Then learn to mix shaders and how they work..

Freindly mobs spawn on grass only.

Which is the point of having a non spawning grass for civilized area. Animals should only spawn in wild areas not in man built strucutres. So my ideas would be magic reasons (seal) or logic reasons (man grown lawn instead of wild grass)

posted a message on [IDEA] Magical seals
I'm tired of all these animals spawning on the lawn in front of my house at night. The amount of animals spawning at night is just ridiculous! It doesn't make any sense; when I get out of my house, there's a party of two dozen critters jumping and waiting for me to genocide them. So I thought of two ideas.

    1. Magical seals
You put these in a square (or 4, one in each corner), and every block contained by the square will not spawn any animals (or monsters, but the materials for the craft will be more expensive)

    2. A lawn block
As opposed to grass which occurs naturally, lawn must be planted with seeds on top of tilled grass. It will be visually the same as grass but being man-made it shouldn't make any animals spawn.

    Thanks for your attention,
    Disscuss / mod !

Off-topic curiosity. How did you accomplish the engravings on the blocks? It's clearly not just a re-texture since it only shows up on the one side.

Paintings! You can a little portion of the frame on the right. On that topic does anyone know how to remove this frame ? It's annoying when you use paintings like this

    Edit: Nevermind just found how

The Old Hylian writing reads "Tafunesu Mohansen Hairaru" (there's no "da" in Old Hylian, so "ta")
In english "Daphnes Mohansen Hyrule", one of the king that ruled over Hyrule ;O

Actually, you can see both the moon and sun at sunrise/sunset so the gap between sun and moon is less than 180 degrees both ways. Lolwut?

lol you are right i never noticed xD it's quantum moon and sun maybe.

    Quote from Stolas »
Actually, my point is to mod that away so it becomes more realistic. I am very well aware that the present system does not allow for phases of the moon. That is my point. I WANT there to be phases of the moon. Hugs, I never meant to sound that mean!

Oh so with the mod you're thinking of, you would have moon in daylight too. I guess it's not that hard to find astronomic formulaes for the position of moon and sun. You could then also implement a system of latitude/longitude so that if you go straight north for some hours, you'll have day/nights that will last months etc. ^^

If you look with attention (in fact, just open your eyes) you will notice that the sun is always at the exact opposite of the moon in minecraft. i.e they travel relatively to the player's position at exactly the same speed. So theoretically there's always minecraftia's "earth" between the sun and the moon at every moment of the day. So there can be no moon cycles. In fact, the moon should always be dark =]

That does look quite good actually and if it's pseudo-ao with no performance hit, I'll have to eat my words. :SSSS:

That being said, I'm not convinced about AA just yet with screen resolutions already mostly high enough to hide aliasing, but depth of field plus ao on those screenshots would make some attractive wallpaper.

DoF would indeed be wonderful X) Would look a lot more like 3d dot heroes.. But this one can't be cheap on processing ^^ As an option maybe ?

    Superfancy minecraft:

Okay, just kidding xD That's too much

Ambient occlusion, as is on this mod, was overdone. And it quite actually annoys me so many people can't seem to be able to take these otherwise nice effects and not feel tempted to overdo them. With due respect to MrMessiah, that's the difference between a technical person and an artist.

The mod will affect your perception of how lit a block is. Something you could do by sight before. You have been warned.

Have you tried the mod ? Actually, the less lit a block is, the less AO you notice. I had no problems at all.

Add "controversy" to the title and profit! Nice troll face.

Ambient occlusion is garbage. The performance hit is quite large for minimal gain. Most people won't be able to tell the difference in appearance but will notice markedly decreased performance with anything less than a 5870 or GTX 470 in most cases. It all depends on the game, the optimization, and your system of course.

Ambient occlusion is a subtle graphics enhancement but it's garbage to hype it and to hype "controversy"

You are surely speaking about fully computed AO or SSAO (Screen Space Ambient Occlusion) which indeed take a lot of time to compute. The mod here is a simple trick which adds shadows aronud 90° edges, and the result is quite bluffing. In fact I can't play without it now.

I also want to add that I had absolutely NO performance impact. At all.

    I did some shots.
You must try it to experience it, it really adds depth to everything. The last feature I want now is anti-aliasing support =)

also, from the mod's thread :

Also, if Notch doesn't wan't to be reverse engineered, at least try with a compiled language, assembly is much harder to de-obfuscate and mod.. And much faster :ohmy.gif:

posted a message on Lava source blocks, finding and capturing
    *Obvious troll*
You have to jump in the lava, and swim through it until you see a golden glowing lava block; this is the source. A tip, put the game on peaceful so the lava doesn't two-shot you. I actually did it twice :tongue.gif:
    /troll

As said before, replacing lava with another material is the quickest way. Anyway, if you reached lava with a pit it must mean you're quite close to the bottom of the world, I would suggest going sideways now ^^ Diamonds!
