I have to say. This is why I love Notch. He gets what it's like sitting here as a customer. Not up there in money covered ivory towers. Just don't go on too many jet trips to London! (Unless I'm around to say hi! :wink.gif: )
It is so beautiful I could cry. Really. It's like my eyes are eating chocolate while listening the the biggest symphony ever. I've not even got to the surface yet. When the dawn breaks it's gonna be epic.
It will be difficult, as you will be up against this lot. http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/2pp ... -of-mojang
So as it's "already been done" it will be more difficult to get your project off the ground.
Hope it goes well.
I've noticed the game uses massive ammounts of bandwidth to download levels when playing multiplayer.
Why is none of this cached onto the local machine/client/player? I would guess you only need to download changed or updated chunks. Granted, this does not speed up the server when dealing with new terrain. But when walking around you house, or the city built by the players, it should lessen the load on the server.
Currently, if I go from one place, like spawn, to another, and back again, the game reloads the spawn details from the server. So I'm getting the same data over again hundreds of times.
I understand a check on each block would kill performance, but a check on each chunk should be easy enough.
So, is this a good idea? Anyone want to twitter it to Notch for me as I don't have a Twitter account.
One of his blog posts says "will upload update plus a cool new painting". Next update goes "update uploaded. [edit] Oh, I don't believe it, I forgot the painting!".
Not sure if he was talking about this?
I like how each day they get closer to minecraft on the Iphone and all anyone can say is "not going to happen". It's like the moon landings, with someone about to put a foot down and someone goes "impossible!"
Yes, I know, a entire PC game cannot run on an Iphone. I don't expect Crysis 2. However, I would expect N.O.V.A. for example.
So a cut down version of minecraft is possible. :tongue.gif:
As we now have an arrow firing dispenser, I'd like to see stones too. So you can fire out little pellets. However, other than cannon balls, for TNT style block damage at a distance, I see no need or room for guns in the gameplay.
Could be your pc, internet connection, internet provider, install, or game files.
Are you running the purchased copy?
What os do you have?
What connection type are you using?
Is your router setup to block Minecraft (IE parents are annoyed you are not doing chores).
Is your password correct etc?
Many things to problem solve.
Found hundreds. You need to make sure you are in a newly generated chunk or world.
Found say 5 diamond, 10-15 lupiz. You cannot find it in old level/saves as it is newly generated with new bioms etc.
