In 1.7 that it so, but in 1.8 there is advanced options to go quite in depth. So it is not those faint of heart, as in some of those values can be pretty extreme.

You can even specific theoretically how much ore is in each chunk to even what level they will appear on. There are some pretty advanced features on half of those 5 pages I think. Don't remember the exact amount, but it is there. I believe it is custom world you would have to switch to in the latest version.

I have only messed with it a couple times when was in snapshot and once in 1.8 pre-release. Some combos of settings do have a chance to crash the game, especially if they are ones that your system could not handle.

Now I don't think if that was added, it would be so elaborate as the pc edition, but it might have some basic settings that are proven to function without crashing or causing too many problems.

I really like the idea of adding a new villager "Adventurer" or "Nomad" that would sell such items. That would be a nice way to go about getting those blocks/resources. :)

EDIT/APPENDED: I do realize when looking on the wiki that you can indeed make that dirt block, "course dirt" and it uses gravel & dirt. How nice is that, an actual use for gravel that I would use. Anyway it is 4 pages of custom settings according to the wiki. Figured I would point my own mistake, since it has been a while that I messed with those settings. :)

Part of the new biomes is the new world generator which allows you to completly fine tune how you want your world to look like (percentage wise).

Stained clay will be in as it is a 1.6.1 feature (they annouced going up to 1.6.4.). Yet it is rather pointless untill 1.7.10 comes around since you need a mesa biome for it to be available. Only the creative mode players will have a benefit from that block without mesa biome.

With the new biomes comes a new world generator that will let you setup the world like you want.

The talk about the new biomes was all pure speculation.

oh I know... but I doubt it is going to be creative only, as you can still get clay in the world; it just would be limited due to the lack of the new biomes.

Didn't I mention having stained clay anyway in that quote...

The ones I was refering to to have more ways may include stained clay, but primarily refer to ones that need those biomes to actually get them. the dirt & potzal was my example of ones that need the new biome in order to find them. Hopefully they will add ways to get them when/if they add them. Of course that is speculation or hopeful thinking.

As for the stained clay in the 1.6 edition you could smelt clay blocks to get it. So there is one way to get in survival, albeit a limited way. So for that I would reiterate hopefully we will eventually get other ways to get these resources that are difficult to get that are mainly for aesthetics anyhow. Just hopeful that things will be well, no guarantee it will happen.

Also the world setup was not released until this recent update with 1.8. That has the multitude in setup functionality that many even in the pc part have been asking for a long time. Granted still has a few kinks though.

I know pretty much all that was between 1.4 & 1.6.4 including those updates. Can't list all off hand but do know very well what entails. Quite a bit.

biomes are definitely speculation or just hopeful thinking. not that it would be, as that is something I even doubt will; at least in this next major update.

Some how I don't think the new biomes are going to be in the next version. This is due to fact those new biomes are a 1.7 feature. I am not expecting to get the new biomes in the next one, but having some of the blocks we will; stained clay being one.

But again this is just what I think. On the 360 for sure when/if they do add the new biomes that will probably be some tweaking in the generation, as I am sure it will be quite different algorithm than the pc version. The pc edition is too spread out to fit on either system. With that said it is more likely to fit on the one with quite a few tweaks, but on the 360 there just is no way to do it effectively. I am not really wanting all biomes on one map, even if would be nice, just a way to get certain resources some of the biomes have. Like the dirt & potzel. If there was an alternate way to get some of those resources, it would be quite nice.

I am sure though if they add them it will be quite different than the pc. At least how the biomes are setup. Anyway, I am awaiting for most the other features that are confirmed, as that will be nice to work with.:)

    Quote from Deskepticon»
I always hoped they would not be added. Not because I dislike them or think the world size is small enough to traverse on foot, or any other arbitrary reason like that. I just concerned that by adding horses the MOB-cap for the other passive mobs is going to be compromised. It's already difficult to keep both a effective cow farm and sheep farm simultaneously.

Unless 4J have completely overhauled the way passive mobs are grouped, I'm fairly certain horses are going to be nothing more than targets in my single-player world.

Some how I think they will be grouped like the wolfs and ocelots... It would not make sense to group them with the other farmed animals. But that also is speculation or just my best guess on the matter.

I for one not really truly looking forward to horses, not that I don't like them, just I am more looking forward to what comes with horses, hay bales.:)

I see no locked repeaters , I see comparators . The 'fence thingy' is a day light sensor .

I think the locked repeater in reference is the one near the daylight sensor, as that does not look anything like the comparator; nor does it remotely look like the repeater that is attached. Maybe that is how the "locked" option looks like when active. that is what looks to me, and more likely a guess.

Overall it is nice to see a lot of the redstone stuff showing in this one. Unsure what to make of the shadows in the left portion of the screen, as they look like normal mobs to me; especially the cow printed shadow one to the right of the zombie.

As to the one mentioning locked chests, I have to agree that is hard to determine from this pic, as there is no regular chest next to one. The redstone leading up to one of the chests is not a way to tell either as that more likely is to determine if there is anything within the chest or not. I am assuming that even regular chests give off a redstone signal when items are in it. Which means in the very least chests are now giving a redstone signal.:)

posted a message on Anyone else have terrible lag in 1.8?
I had thought that that other thread was for the release. Not 1.8.1 which I guess is in snapshot pre-release, I think.

Anyway I will say the same thing I did there. The Official 1.8 release actually is the first time in a long time that I am able to play feasibly. I am getting framerates that I have not seen since 1.3.2. This is due to the new VBO setting.

Now in the pre-release that setting had quite a few bugs, namely not being able to see the terrain, so it was a no go. Although I had the same FPS as the release, it was unplayable. The release apparently fixed something with that new setting, so now I am able to play; granted it is not the best FPS in the world, but for myself is feasible to play comfortably. between 25-45 FPS with average 35-40 FPS roughly...

    I hadn't had those fps since 1.3.2.

1.4 - unplayable due to some kind of corruption happening, not to mention a small fps decrease.

1.5 - The fps was quite a major decrease in fps.

1.6 & 1.7 - The fps was still pretty low, and almost unplayable. I could hardly play without optifine; and even then I would only get 15-20 fps, which mostly dipped down to 5.

So for me I finally was able to actually play the PC edition with 1.8 being fps almost equal to 1.3.2; well with that new mode of course. I am unsure what the 1.8.1 pre-releases, if there is one, is even like. I'll wait till they are actually out to know.

Probably continue where I left off in my old worlds. I might start anew just to have a map made in that TU.

The first thing I would build would be what I usually build; a place to store my habbit of a packrat in, as well the place that would sprawl out into the base/place I have in mind. I'll get to the new stufff when I am able. :)

It doesn't appear closer than the tree to the mid left to me... in fact if you draw a straight line at the base of the tree trunks across, they appear to be on the same Y axis and at roughly the same distance away.

The shelf of dirt blocks right behind the circled tree have to low of a profile for how closely behind they are to it for them to look like full blocks IF the tree trunk is 1x1, but if it is 2x2, then the dirt blocks would be about the right height for this angle of view.

Still don't see the dirt slab thing. I am probably going to agree with Minecrafttinlikecrazy here that it could be the snow that is causing the illusion or something like that.

As for the size comment. I didn't say from each other in perspective, even if that is where the conclusion came from. Sure they are roughly the same 1x1 block distance away from each other; that is apparently 3 blocks. Easy to see if you look at the snow and count.

What I meant of perspective is the player, the character view, not the trees relation to each other. Of course that in it self proves my point. The angle of the shot makes things to the player closer to the character than what is in the background somewhat bigger. That is depth of view. Also just looking at the snow layer, which is apparently 1x1 in the screen shot and the tree it is next to, you can obviously see the snow layer is of the same size or width of the tree base. drawing the squares from the snow layer to the tree to the far left you'll see that that also is the same width.

I was looking at the whole picture for a bit and that is how I came to my conclusion of the size of trees. They are not 2x2, at least not in that photo. They are normal size of 1x1. So in essence it is point of view, with depth of field in mine. Depth perception, where things closer will appear bigger than the things further away. The starting point of depth being the character itself; or the screens camera view. I say the latter bit due to fact the camera would be based near the head region of the character and not on the ground where the feet are.

Anyway make of it what you will but that is how I see it and have come to my conclusion as I have said. :)

looks like a 1x1 tree to me.. Snow slabs for certain in that screen shot, but dirt slabs; I just don't see it. The only dirt I see is the natural blocks that have the snow texture on them, which is in the pc edition as well. At least I think is the case.

The reason I say that tree is 1x1 is due to fact that tree is closer than the one to mid left. And the one to the far left is even closer than the one with the snow layer in front. It is a depth perception thing I believe.

Although nice to see layers in snow being presented.:)

Nice summary, you missed coal blocks though. And please no more unattended griefing by the game, the villagers change to witches when struck by lightning is one change we can do very much without. Villagers allready diappear without any concrete reason we don't need another possible reason they can go poof. If anything we need options to turn unattended griefing off.

IMHO hopper and redstone block implies; dropper, comparator and repeater locks.

Wouldn't it be awesome if they decided to pull 1.7.10 forward as a surprise at the same time... /dreaming mode off

Quite a bit of dreaming there, but most unlikely. I can probably see some features being pulled forward, however not the update itself. Mainly due to the terrain changes that occur. Although I would be mixed feelings on that, as it is all about how they go about doing so when the time comes, if they decide to.

As is though what they are adding in, or going to add in next is quite a long list of thing. Would have been nice if they included the colored wood for fences and the like, but that for me would be dreaming or hoping, if not a little of both. Patiently awaiting to see all that will be in beyond the obvious, if there is anything. I will have a hey day almost literally with some of the features and automate certain things further. :)

That moment when a PS picture appears in the 360 section....

I honestly don't want a 1.7 update unless packed ice can be made, all flowers can be bonemealed anywhere, and podzol and the two new saplings appear in the bonus chest.

Finding all of the biomes is a challenge enough as is. Gods help up if we need to cram another two to five more in to get everything.

That is not even mentioning the generation that changes with it. Well not directly. I just hope they don't switch to that sort of genration since the biomes are more spread out in a way. Things would get monotonous. Now if they compacted it somehow that would be fine, as I am sure even with the compacting bit not all biomes would be on the map.

Also stained clay, even if that is part of the 1.6, I think; that will still be a bit of a limited resource. What I do hope is that some of the mechanics do show up, like fishing.

I don't really want the enchanting bit, due to having to enchant something in order to change the enchantment that will most likely show up. That may give books a bit more nudge, but still a bit perplexing. I do like the idea for costs in enchantment if the cost is a renewable resource that is in abundance to a degree. Think I prefer the xp bit over that though, seems more balanced, even if you have to constantly enchant to get what you want. That part would not change no matter what due to that nudge.

Things like miscellaneous crafting recipes I would like to see are those of cracked, mossy, chiseled stuff. As well what you have mentioned, being able to craft some of the new blocks as well a few, like saplings for new trees being in the bonus chest.

Armor stands, banners would be nice too... among other things, as there is a lot even in the most recent version...

Granted if they do decide to add anything it will probably be a while yet, since they would have to get the rest of 1.6 equivalent done. Hopefully we would in the very least see something pulled forward that they can, but that maybe hoping/asking for too much, as that is quite a bit already. I will mainly be glad for when they are done with the current update they are working on. Hopefully things go well enough to where the new additions won't bog down the box. Sure they will adjust this and that, at least I would think they would.

Anyway it is just nice to see a whole lot already coming to the system. Glad for that. :)

posted a message on Has 1.8.1 fixed all of the issues? Lets vote to fix this lag issue.
I am one that had fps ok with 1.8; mainly due to the VBO part. Note: I am on a laptop with only 4g ram and ok processor, not that I use that much ram for the game anyhow. 1g is fine.

Still the same as before. I don't have a monument nearby so can't really check that, but is better near water.

    20-30 by default.

35-55 with VBO, which is fine by me. I can play in those numbers, well at least in single player. Multiplayer problems is due to my connection and not the game. granted this is all in 8 view distance(don't remember the actual term at the moment).

And again this is the first version in a long time that I actually got back fps that I had in 1.3.2. It was down hill from there; till this update at least.:)

    Quote from DrAtomic1»

I so agree, I love to fight them, they are actually one of the best mobs to fight but the block moving thing is total and utter nonsense and no fun at all.

Edit: or wait did you mean Creepers or Enderman? If you mean Creepers that option is allready there, if you turn off the option fire spreads it also disables creeper explosions, however I feel you were responding to the Enderman thing as with Creepers you see the damage that is done and can repair it instantly (or come back for it) where as Enderman make a random mess out of everything dirt and sand related.

When was that added... Sad though that it is combined with something I actually want. So I guess I learn to live with it in this case.

I like the creepers, just not their explosion much. Get enough of that with enderman's moving nights.

I only fight things when I have to. More a survival builder. Don't care much for creative, except for testing things out (be it redstone, building looks/form, or features); So survival is something I prefer more due to gathering resources in order to build things. Anything farmable I will make farms for them, which is to say I will not fight them, but rather farm them.

    That about sums it up.
