Oh wow, with the new terrain gen you can make some lovely landscapes.
If you shrink biomes down to 1, And just slightly raise the noise level in all the axes, and then boost the size of rivers you can crate worlds that look similar to how BETA biomes use to be!
I already started playing on that world. The landscape is a challenge in some places but then so was Beta at times
Best of all, we can at last lower the spawn rate of caves, ravines and mineshafts! Make these things rare like they should be and not make our underground a freaking spaghetti bowl.

Well, this snapshot is rather disappointing, it's purely cosmetic. If they do keep these in the game for 1.7, I at least hope that they create an API for easily adding in custom shaders, maybe they could build it into resource packs in the future. *hint* Mojang *hint*
They already ARE in the resource packs folder. So that means we can already make our own! Seen a few already mess with them. -

Agreed. This is a "feature" I will never ever use. Completely pointless and stupid.
And what if we are able to make our own? Something more advanced then just this? What if this was just a sample, an easy to make test that will lead into better shadows and lighting like we see in shader mods? What if we can change what is used with command blocks for custom maps? Or custom potion effects?
Useless? I think not. -

They deleted my stone brick and placed it onto the cobble stone texture, so now I have a stone brick cobble and default stonebrick.
The minecarts are looking very wooky.
Really what in the world! >.< -

ARGGGG!!! Wood is now rendered useless as far as i'm concrned. I am not going to risk my large wood mansions burning down in a fire! I carefully made all my wood structures out of half slabs which is more wood intendive but worth if for the fireproof benefits. Now wood is no good to build with!
Love the books though
Dude, there are MANY MANY WAYS to guard against fire with in a wood home. For one iron bars can block fire from spreading. brick as well, even glass.
My fireplace is made of brick with glass on top and irn bars used as the grate infront of the flames. even setting a wood block right in front it remains safe and sound.
Learn to build proper fireplaces (or even lavaplaces as I like doing) and you wont have ANY issues with your homes burning down. There are MANY tutorials out there for such. Now stop spazing. -
Dec 1, 2011Taiine posted a message on New Prerelease is AvailableVoidfog in gen needs to be changed... I like the fact that it darkens the area and such, but having it at such an extream at bedrock is nuts. Level 5-10 it seems fine.Posted in: News
Why not just make apple trees? They could spawn rarely in the world. It could also just drop normal saplings that when grown have a rare shot at growing into an apple tree. Prevents you from being able to make a large farm of em. -
Oct 12, 2011I don't see why we can't have a version of the dragon in the main world, just remove that ability to go though objects. I'm sure an ai could be made to have it not come with in X amount of spaces from solid blocks so it would just be flying.Posted in: News

Aug 28, 2011Taiine posted a message on PAX - 1.8 Game Features! Those towns and npc's better be disableable. That seems to make the start of the game way to easy as you have everything -right there- handed to you at the start. Farms, furnaces, work benches, SHELTER. Where's the survival in that?Posted in: News
Hunger should also be able to be turned off. I was never a fan of mods like that and wont be a fan if it's a perma fixture in minecraft with no way to disable it. - To post a comment, please login.

How will you contribute?: I love exploring and building. I am also a collector-o-holic that holds onto just about everything. On a private server with me and friends I've become the main resource collector and building assistant.
Where will you settle?: Not too sure. I may end up just roaming the lands until I find a nice location. Id like to find a nice area of trees to attempt a tree house.
What are you looking for in a server?: Some place that is nice with trusting people. Players that wont mind going on journeys into the depths of the world with you and over all have fun with no (or very little) drama.
Did you read the rules?: Why yes I did.
How do we send the REDRUM code? In game or via forum PM's?

Agree. They are fine as is. They are hard enough to deal with when they sworm in MASS. It's hard enough moving around the nether when you have 3-4-5-6+ of the suckers fireing at you knocking the ground out from under you.

Oh excuse me, the neighborhood zombies are on my lawn again.

Seriously. This is a game. Not real life. Who's to say on this world that obsidian ISN'T that hard? Look at some sifi movies where they discover an substance that is 'like' another known one but acts in a different manner, yet they still call it the same for the sake of ID-ing it.
"This look like water, but it acts like a gel substance when touched."

Keep half a stack of torches on hand, a crafting table, one of each tool and just make more as I go along.
A bow with arrows is also a handy thing for me, can snipe mods I come across... when a creeper don't sneak up on me wanting a hug.
I may also mark my way using any resource I have have a LOT of. Like gravel, making a two/three tall pillar with one block at the base to point in the direction I am going. Plop a torch on top and be on my way.
making sure I can always see the last one (with far view distance on) before placing another.

Copy and pasting seems a bit iiffy however. I can select a structure (like a lamp post I made) make sure I am standing one block from it before I copy, stand one block from where I want to paste, do the paste command...
.....and nothing shows up. I get the message, but nothing after it :sad.gif:
REQUEST!
I love the stack commands. But one issue I have at times is it also stacks any air that's in the structure.
I have a nice rail bridge that has pillars going down, I have a whole section selected, but when I stack it, it stacks the air that is under it, and it etches into hills rather than going over it.
Anyway to tell it to stack everything but the air? So I'm not carving chunks out of hills when I want it to go over them?
