Hmm, well there was a slew of Dr Who references when Dinnerbone announced a previous secret project, which was making all the previous versions of Minecraft available via the launcher. Like a time machine.
Gee, or, you know, dinnerbone just added the profile capabilities for the sake of having them.
I like the world generation for the most part, but it's true that it's a problem for the single player who wants to see something specific. The answer, I think, is to have a button at world generation that says "which biome would you like to start out in?"
If I changed a dog too look like a cat(along with all of it's DNA) and changed it's name to a cat... would it still be a dog?

If you had a painting of a bowl of fruit titled 'bowl of fruit', and changed the color of the bowl from red to black, and renamed it to 'Fruit in a bowl", would it still be a painting or a bowl of fruit?
All Mojang did add a dot in the center of the rose pedals and called it a poppy.
Although I love the old rose, I also love the new poppey. I think that if original minecraft had a poppey, and he changed it to roses, people would have the same feeling. If that's the case, you can't really call it lame.
I also think realism isn't an issue. If minecraft was realistic then it woulden't be fun at all. Let's see:
Skellies only would need to shoot you once,
Insta kill if you go in the nether (to hot),
Die of suffacation in caves (from gas)
Can't get neer lava, let alone grab a bucket of it,
Can't carry a bagillion giant boulders of stone in our pocket,
only jump at most half of what we can now,
No more infinite sprinting if keep eating stake occationally,
What's an enchantment?,
What is redstone?, What is crafting?,
What is smelting?,
No more punching wood.
So the realism of a stinking rose matters very little, yes?
Crafting and smelting are very present in the real world...
Im more worried about the snow in high places. I use to build always in high places, and I hate snow, you cant see well when it snows, and suddenly everything is covered by snow. And you people are complaining about the stupid rose that nobody ever uses? MY GOD!

You're good at debating right. If you had to debate for the side of re-adding the rose *cough* re-texturing if that's what you believe in *cough*. What would your argument look like?
I wouldn't have an argument. If I really felt that the rose texture was better, I would make a custom resource pack and change the name and texture of the poppy back to the rose texture and be happy with myself.

I agree with you that roses will probably be re-added. It's kinda hard for mojang not to with everyone attacking them.
