posted a message on Creating the illusion of Clockwork - help/ideas?
    Hi guys,

I'm attempting to create a platforming adventure stage modeled after a complex clocktower. Stuff like what you would see in a Castlevania game or the like.

I am stuck in that I don't know how to go about creating the illusion of rotating gearworks inside a large tower.

These are the movement-circuitry mods/plugins I have available at my disposal.
-Buildcraft Mod (possible to use small versions of AND/OR gates to move pistons around)
-Craftbook Plugin (possible to use "Toggle Areas" to 'turn off' blocks and 'turn on' blocks in tandem)
-Wireless Redstone Plugin (possible to control pistons in odd areas without complex redstone wiring)
-Logiblocks Plugin (enables the use of IF statements in Command Blocks)
-Movecraft (allows movement of platforms... sort of)

    The trick is, it should:
    1. resemble some kind of gear, whether propped up on a wall, or standing on a tube (fence/netherfence single block).

    2. rotate, or look like it rotates.

I suppose a third prerquisite is for them to not look like they take up too much space (if it takes 10 blocks2 to power a 5-block2 gear platform, it might not be worth doing).

I thought of certain things, such as using pistons at the edges of a square grid and moving the blocks. However, this only works if the entire block zone is Solid...
---though with Craftbook's "Super Sticky" and "Super Push" pistons, I am able to push 'air' blocks. The trouble is, once the air reaches its destination, the space gap is destroyed with SuperPush, and with SuperSticky, something similar hapens.

I also thought about having pistons concentrically placed, in a circle, a situation in which every other piston pushes blocks OUT while the others push IN, creating the illusion of the gear's block teeth turning. Trouble is, the redstone wiring powers the piston as well as its adjacent piston, messing the illusion up.

So yeah, I'm reaching out to the creative minds here at MinecraftForum to see if anyone has experimented with similar attempts.

The final result should resemble something like this:

...this is pretty good as a platform. It would, in Minecraft, have far less teeth though (maybe two or three per side)

    Here's another example:

If this is impossible, please let me know.
If there is a mod that can be installed to do block movements and I don't have it installed or do not know of it, maybe you guys can also enlighten me.

I'm running Minecraft v1.5.1 and I'm admin of a server that is running MCPC+, so both Bukkit Plugins and Minecraft Forge Mods can be installed/tested.

The outside of the tower already tells proper time, but the inside should look like a big moving mechanism.

If you need pictures of the outside of the tower, I will post them sometime soon-ish. The inside area is about a 20x20x20 block of empty space.

    Hi!

Is the new version backwards-compatible with Minecraft 1.5.1?
I am still running my server on 1.5.1 so I'd like to know.

Also.... I wanna know if you put Spikes back? :3

posted a message on [Oct 8] Coros Mods: ZombieAwareness for 1.10.2 with new improvements
Hi there! I have some issues with Weather Mod, which is too bad 'cuz it's an awesome mod. Anyway...

Although the Weather Mod (Weather v1.41 Mod for MC v1.5.1 - 2004KB) is pretty awesome, I think I found a bug in it.
I have been able to repeat the bug, as well. It is as follows:

-wait until a big storm, possibly with a tornado
-set Thunder to on in the world you're in
-when you see a storm tornado in the distance, try to take a snapshot of it with F2.

The client will Stop (not crash, crash gives you the window with the white background and black text). No, the client will close, spit out an error about "run out of memory" and "logged you out to prevent world corruption" or something like that. And all I did was want to take an F2 snapshot of the great tornado in the distance.

It can be a rainstorm or a snowstorm. If there is any kind of storm (I'm not sure if the thunder matters), you will be unable to capture a screenshot of it, and your game will cease. I'm running an MCPC+ server and the console is not really showing up any errors, but the client dislikes whatever goes on in the screen and crashes hard. Minecraft then says something like:

"To prevent world corruption, we have closed the session" or something.

The game sort of plays OK if you never take snapshots. There's a great slowdown when switching from a taiga biome to a river biome (a river runs through my world) if it's raining. Raining slows down the thing to a crawl. Is there a way to disable the new rain and keep the default rain?

Well... I suppose that answers my question.
    Why were they removed?

I'm implementing an adventure map based on the "Castlevania" series of games. The "Castlevania Adventure" games had chains you could climb (which you can do in your mod) and the NES titles had Spike crushers (which I thought I could implement but they're removed for some reason).

I also have Craftbook installed, so if I set a piston to be a SuperPiston (pushes more blocks than usual, can push Air, can retract many blocks if it's a SuperSticky Piston), I can create a Spike Crusher.

You should also implement horizontal chainz so you can use the Lift block horizontally to move platforms along a horizontal axis as well.
    Or just as monkeybars/tightropes.

Thanks for a cool mod. I dig the elevator usage. ;)

EDIT: It'd also be great if you could do platforms like these, though I suppose it could be achieved via other means

Hi! New user here, but I've been using the Chainz mod for about a week or so.

I'm confused, though... what happened to the Spikes? I downloaded the mod for 1.5.1 but the thread for 1.4.7 has Spikes and Iron Chainlink Fences you can craft. But in the 1.5.1 version they're no longer there.

What happened? I want those items. :)
