I was pretty saddened by the death of Neil Armstrong yesterday, so I made a small memorial on my server.
I'm new to making statues, but I think this one came out pretty good.

What the signs at the base of the memorial say.
Additionally, a picture of the backpack with the American flag on it.
Recently I got the error "Can't connect to minecraft.net".
Since I've played Minecraft for a long time and have fixed this problem before, I just waited an hour and came back. Still didn't work. It's a day later and I've tried quite a few things.
I have..
-Deleted .minecraft
-Downloaded another launcher (Downloaded 4)
-Tried to force update
-Restarted my computer
-Updated my java
-Checked my internet
-Tried playing in browser
Additionally, in the news part of the launcher, it displays this

<center>Failed to update news java.net.ConnectException: Connection timed out: connect</center></body></html>
None of this has worked. Does anybody have a solution?

In case you didn't know, Minecraft was inspired by a game called Infiminer. So I could call Minecraft a ripoff using the same idea that you are using. I could also call Battlefield a ripoff of Call of Duty, or the other way around.

Maybe a common mineral, like many have suggested? Like copper, silver, gems etc?
Problem is there isn't much other uses for them beyond tools and armor.
Although we do need something in between iron and diamond, like most have said. Common minerals seem like the best bet. Maybe you don't even need to add a new ore, but a system to upgrade tools?
Like you could make your iron into steel or something like that?
I wouldn't really say I have a least favourite, as all the ores have good purposes. Coal is just essential, Iron is great for tools, Lapis Lazuli makes amazing carpets, you can do limitless things with redstone, however, I'd have to say I don't really care for gold much. I just don't see much essential things to do with it.

A 5 block tall cactus generated naturally. I've never seen this in Minecraft before.

Also, every wooden tool. They are just so inefficent....
