posted a message on [1.6.4] Minefantasy Survival Server
Loving the sound of this server this far! I've been looking for a good one for a little while now, since the old towny I used to play on was blown up(literally).
Now if only I wasn't waiting for class to start, and have an 8 page paper analyzing an aspect of Dante's Inferno due tomorrow, I'd download/install and hop on! (And pray my laptop can handle it. But I think I'll be good,I used to play with 70+ on my own xP)

I would also recommend the mod Simply Horses if it was updated from 1.5.2, but alas it's not.

Amazing builds (optional, but please provide screen caps):

Why you're applying: I've been looking for a decent server to play on. While single player is all well and good, I always find it more fun with others.

posted a message on Installing Mods for 1.6.4 on a 1.7.2 launcher?
The launcher didn't change at all when Minecraft changed from 1.6 to 1.7, it will install the same. Just make sure you have your MC version in your profile set to 1.6.x.

OK, no more switching worlds back and forth ;-). Thank you again for helping us through all this. We really appreciate all your patience and knowledge! I should have read up more before doing some of the things we did, but sometimes I don't quite understand all that I'm reading (or I'm too lazy to read all the directions).
Sorry I somehow missed your first reply, which had your answers to question 1 and 2...
Quite alright, everybody makes mistakes when they're learning. If you have any more questions, feel free to message me and I'll do what I can to help out.c:

posted a message on PLEASE HELP ME
Before you ran the Forge installer, had you run Minecraft in 1.6.4 before at least once?
Assuming you've done that, make sure you've downloaded the correct version of Forge, then run the installer, making sure it is set to "Client" (it is by default).
After this, make sure your launcher profile is set to "Forge", then run Minecraft. Do you see a "Mods" button under the "Multiplayer" button?

Lets make sure Forge is installed correctly first, then we'll move onto the mods. If you go into the .minecraft folder, and into the folder "crash reports", is there a report generated from the last time your game crashed? If so, could you post it here, under spoiler tags please?

posted a message on Forge Error (Man i'm so bad lucked with those)
First off, I'd recommend ditching MagicLauncher, at least for now, and just using the Minecraft launcher until we get things up and running.
So, make sure you've run Minecraft in 1.6.2 at least once using Minecraft's launcher, then run the Forge Installer(making sure the Forge version is for 1.6.2). If the install goes correctly, the dialog will tell you it's successfully installed and has pulled however many required libraries. There should also be a new profile in Minecraft's launcher, set as the active one, called Forge, which will run the Forge version you've just installed. Make sure that profile is the one that's active when you hit "Play". It should have the "Mod" Button in the menu now.

Is there a way to copy a world to run in two versions? Also, does going up a version work? Seems like the world in question was created in 1.6.2, and worked when we upgraded to 1.7.2...it just improved it and allowed him to build on what he already had, rather than erasing anything. Returning to 1.6.2 is when we lost things.

Actually everything in our modded 1.6.2 world locked up and hung at Loading Terrain. The only way to play it was without mods in 1.7.2, which is when we lost a lot of what he built.

Does Too Much TNT work with what we have? I installed it, and it shows up in the .minecraft Mods folder, but when the game was loaded, it wasn't in the Mods loaded page.

To copy a world, you just copy the folder in "Saves" of the world you want, but that won't make it work better or worse in another version, it will still act the same.
Going up a version will do nothing except break things unless you have all the same mods installed for the newer version. But, since 1.7.2 added biomes and therefore seeds have changed, upgrading a 1.6.2 world to 1.7.2 even with all the same mods will still mess with world generation. Besides, as of now there are no mods updated to 1.7.2, as Forge and MCP have not yet released updated versions, and they are needed by modders before they can update.

Getting stuck on Loading Terrain is most likely from Minecraft looking for biomes present in 1.7.2 ,but 1.6.2 has no idea what the world save file is talking about when it asks for them because they aren't available in 1.6.2, and such gets stuck. Creating a new world, and keeping it in 1.6.2, should stop this from happening.

As for Too Much TNT, I've never heard of that mod, but it should work with other mods, as most play nice with each other. If it's not showing up in the Mods list, that would lead me to think it wasn't installed correctly.

That is correct. I'd highly recommend just staying in whatever modded version the world was created in, and creating a new world when/if you switch versions.
Theres no need to un/re-install anything if the mods are working fine together.

Is it still conflicting IDs? I changed HC's conflicting ID to 7001, maybe it'd be a big enough gap but I guess not?

This error is because block ID's must be under 4096.
Other than the trial and error method, I'd recommend using either an ID resolver mod, or, if you don't want to add in another mod, take the long route and open up and Excel spreadsheet and go through your config files, recording which ID's are taken by which mod/item, and then determining which ID's are free. Mods like Harvestcraft that add in lots of blocks and items are better to be recorded as a range of ID's (i.e. 300-560). It is also usually recommended to change the item ID from the mod with less items.

I do believe your problem may be magic launcher. You'll need to run Minecraft 1.6.2 ,through it's launcher, at least once in order to use Forge's installer.
Is there a reason you are using MagicLauncher instead of Minecraft's launcher?

    Quote from RobS10

    Thanks SynthHermit,
Any thoughts on recovering what my son built using the mods on our laptop? I took one of his favorite worlds he had been building with all the mods we had initially installed, and installed it on MC version 1.6.2 on my work computer. The world worked, so I installed just Mo Creatures and Natura, which also worked, but looked like what he created earlier was gone. I guess when you save a world, switch to a different version of MC, and switch back, the things built in the world don't get saved with the world, or switching back erases them?
Correct. I've answered the rest of your questions in my previous post, but to reiterate : If you take out a mod (or load it on a computer without it), then load the world, any item or block that mod adds in will be gone in any loaded chunk. Even if you add the mod back in, those items/blocks will still be gone. The only way to get them back is to re-craft and re-place them.

posted a message on Help for modded 1.6.2 worlds
When you say that there's an item ID mismatch, what does it say that mismatch is? Which mod or item?

    1. If you remove a mod, then load a world, all of that mods items and blocks will be gone. If you put that mod back in again and load the world, the items and blocks will still be gone in all the chunks you've loaded. Chunks that you previously had not loaded at all will generate with the mods items.
BUT, If you load Minecraft JUST to the loading screen, and do NOT load a world, then everything will still be there. But since you said you've said you've loaded a world with modded items placed in 1.6.2 in 1.7.2, they will be gone.
I would personally not go version jumping, if I were you.

    2. In short, yes and no. World loading and chunk generation is based off of the world's "seed", a string of numbers that Minecraft uses as a sort of guide for how the world will be generated. For example, using the seed "1234" (no quotes) will always generate the same world in, say, 1.6.2, but if you use that seed to create a world in 1.7.2, that world will NOT be the same as the one created in 1.6.2. Even using that seed in 1.5.2 will generate a slightly different world than the one from 1.6.2.
Now, when chunks load (simply by walking around, depending on how far you have your render distance set at), those chunks will not change at all in a saved world, regardless of version loaded. So if you generate a world in 1.6.2 and run around for awhile, loading chunks, then open that world in 1.7.2, those chunks that you loaded while in 1.6.2 will be exactly the same.BUT, if you load new chunks in that same world in 1.7.2, be aware you could end up with some very strange world generation, such as sharp drops or sudden walls, sometimes into a completely different biome.
Now, the above I'm speaking about vanilla, unmodded Minecraft. Depending on mods, that does change things a bit, as I've most likely stated in the answer to #1. (I'm going through answering these backwards, don't ask me why :P)

3.Nope,not a problem. It shows up red for myself as well. Other mods I've used have shown up in the mods list in cyan or teal, I believe it's a configuration within the .info file for the mod, but nothing to worry about.

4.The mods list will sometimes show mods in separate parts. Natura Compat: NEI sounds like the Not Enough Items plugin for Natura. Don't worry about the mod info not appearing, that has nothing to do with the working state of the mod.

    5. Forge will not show up in the .minecraft/mods folder. It is installed into the minecraft.jar, but will still show up in the Mods list.

    6. If a world was generated/created in 1.7.2, and you open it in 1.6.2, any special items and biomes added by 1.7.2 will be gone, and will not reappear when re-loaded in 1.7.2. It will also change the way the world generation works, as a seed for 1.7.2 will include biomes that 1.6.2 doesn't have, so don't be surprised if you decide to explore more of the 1.7.2-world in 1.6.2 and find at the edge of the world that was generated in 1.7.2 a sharp drop or sudden wall of rock.
