    littleangelfire, before purchasing a new CPU or returning your son's computer like others suggest, I'd recommend that you post the launcher log so we can help out. I'm fairly certain that your son's computer is capable of playing Minecraft, as I have tried it on much older systems and it has worked fine. It's probably a software issue, not a hardware issue.

    This is pretty pointless as it's super easy to use a proxy which would show a fake IP to the server owner.

    For some reason whenever I enable this resource pack (this happens on both default and smooth), all text turns into a bunch of squares:





    It's probably on my end, but it doesn't happen with any other resource packs.

    How "exact" are you talking here? From what you said, you probably do have an HP pavilion g7. If, however, the g7 is like most other laptops it comes in multiple configurations. These different configurations can include screen resolution, processor family and clock speed, graphics card (or lack thereof), memory, and so on. All of these factors make a difference in game performance. In the future, please realize that laptops with the same family name are not completely equal.

    According to the the specs list that OP posted, we have the same exact specs. I did add 2 GB of RAM on my own a while back but besides that they're identical. Same resolution, same everything.

    Dude, I have the same exact laptop as him and get ~40 FPS with all settings on max and render distance on normal+ with optifine.

    I have the same laptop as you do, what a coincidence, lol. Except I added 2 GB of extra RAM a while back so now there's 6 GB. But I usually get a smooth ~40 FPS with smooth lighting on max, fancy graphics and normal+ render distance with optifine, so your computer can definitely handle it.

    VIP+ - Full diamond w/ protection 2, thorns 1 and sharpness 2, fire aspect 1 sword

    Pro - Full diamond w/ protection 4, thorns 2 and sharpness 4, fire aspect 2 sword

    No support. Jeb/Dinnerbone need to start focusing on the survival aspect of Minecraft like they used to and quit adding to items for aesthetics. Banners? Seriously? That's not what Minecraft is about.
