I'm going to get flak for this buuuttt...

I've played on PC and on 360 and on PS3. And I have to say multiplayer on 360 is harder than either of the other 2. PS3 I can start dominating games and continue on a streak for 3 or 4 hours. PC I don't actually dominate but i do mediocrley throughout. and on 360 I generally get may **** kicked with a few bursts of complete dominance now and then. Mind you that just me.

It's probably because of all the no life 13 yr olds online on 360

Well being harder doesn't really make one better then the other. I also touched up on difficulty curve a little bit before

    Quote from Sven_The_Slayer »
Another thing I do see is the difficulty curves are much farther apart. Bad players on console are really bad and good players on console have an easy time with them. The bad players on PC, for the most part, can usually handle themselves a little better. A keyboard and mouse is a lot easier to learn and handle, and is capable of many more commands. Of course if your brain is wired for consoles then you will find it a little weird but I'm sure console players can learn PC controls a lot faster then PC turning to console.

With keyboard and mouse all players start on more equal footing, where as a harder to master controller the good players are leaps and bounds beyond the bad. Cross platforming is still a bad idea because users with finer controls will dominate or will have to have their system dumbed down even more then they do already.

    *launch preferred player*
    *turn on Deadmau5*
    *launch minecraft*
*listen to deadmau5 WHILE playing minecraft*

How does Deadmua5 music even fit into the general theme of minecraft? You also have to ask yourself how many of the >1000000 minecraft players don't listen to deadmau5, how many of them have never even heard of him?

    ...Well the collaboration sounds okay

Also VAC is a joke compared to PB

VAC is a joke because it perma bans, PB usually does jack **** to people because it gives so many false positives, it'l kick you just for not being updated.

VAC I think will wait a week for it to ban anybody. PB is much more thorough, it does have it's issues with kicking people but that's usually because it's not functioning properly and instead of risking the other players with a possible hacker it boots him. I personally have not had any major issues with PB and it definitely seems to do a better job taking on a more active role. What is more important though is to have server admins to get the hackers who slip by. If PC keeps getting treated like consoles then this is less and less likely to be the case.

Also IWnet was only founded so that IW could get money from PC DLC. Nobody would pay $15 for 3/5 maps when there are hundreds of free ones. This of course is only my speculation, but there really is no other reason for IW to move away from dedicated servers and front the bill for a matchmaking system.

I say they're the same. Console people just yell over Xbox Live/PSN and on PC/Mac there's a bunch of hackers/modders so they get aimbot and everything.
But personally I use Xbox 360 most. (Except TF2 and COD4 FTW on PC :biggrin.gif: Oh and Minecraft duh :tongue.gif:)

As console become closer and closer to their PC big brothers there will be more and more problems with hacks. I know hacked lobbies are a problem already but it's only a matter of time before client side hacks make their appearance on the consoles, if they have not already.

I also find it funny that everybody associates PC with piracy, but console piracy is on the rise. There where many people playing MW2 long before release. Also with the popularity of consoles there is a lot more allure for cheating and hacking. Just like Mac viruses VS PC viruses. Macs are not virus free there just was never a big enough market/profit to target only a small percentage of computers.

The biggest difference between PC and Consoles is that xbox live and I'm sure PSn has admins and moderators who actually will ban players and consoles for such offenses. PC usually has dedicated server admins to do the same on a server by server basis and anti cheats such as punkbuster and VAC but with the MW2 travesty there were no longer server admins to counter the hackers that slipped past VAC. Also VAC is a joke compared to PB

For me at least the future of gaming looks bleak, continued overlooking for PC and a rise in hacks and piracy on consoles.

    Quote from Abyssal »
Could you like implement the redstone wiring onto the chest through CRAFTING "gasp"

make a pin chest kinda thing so when you right clicked it first off you can put in your code then after that that will always be the same code then no one can still your priceless :Frame: there would also be no confusing redstone tracks going every where.

I still like the idea of keys over combination locks. They could still be handled the same way with a combination but the combination is crafted into the key. When a key is crafted you should get the option to name it (tool tips) and it's pin/combination. It will then work on any chest that matches that pin. This way you can give out keys to whoever needs to access that chest without having to give out the pin, and it would save you the trouble of inputting the pin every time you wanted to access the chest, if the key is in your inventory the chest will not second guess you. You of course would have to worry about death and loosing the key, if somebody kills you they can get your key. Also if you do die, say in lava, you can simply craft a new key with the pin.

I'm also thinking there should be a key ring that has a sub-inventory that should be able to store a limited number of keys so you don't need to fill your inventory with them.

The same should be applied to a red stone switch, like the lever, but requires a key to toggle.

This would also be an important addition for Adventure mode, keys could be hidden in the level so the player has to find the key to continue on.

And you know what, why shouldn't there be a both. If a player wants to input a combination every time he/she access the chest then we should also have that option as well. If you can every write on paper, then you can have parts or all of the combination to find for adventure mode as well.

Or if people want it to be simpler, you can craft a key with the pin; and if you have the key, the chest opens. If you have no key you then have to enter the pin manually before the chest will open.

The full auto dispenser in OP is really quite needlessly complex.

Here's a far simpler, more efficient variation on the theme:

It can also be rigged in the same manner to OP for multiple dispensers.

Hooking a pulser right up to the dispenser doesn't work, it will will not fire rapidly and only every so often, this is not reliable. Then if you power it from someplace else (as shown in the video) it fires full auto. This looks more like it is a glitch. If it was not a glitch you would think a single pulser would be able to fire the thing, but you need that second input before it works properly. Yes my design is more complex but it is really reliable and doesn't look as buggy.

The other video posted killing mobs at night with fire arrows demonstrates the unreliability of the pulser by firing one last volley after the switch is turned off at quite a delay to.

TNT can only break through one layer of stone and creepers are less powerful so unless you build with sandstone there is no chance of a creeper blowing through two layers.

I really expected this to become a lot more of a heated debate. When it comes to what you use it's more of a matter of preference and availability. Consoles are cheep and easy to use so they have a much larger following, but seeing as how MineCraft is a PC game a lot more people here are PC fans. I don't so much care about people playing console or PC but I just wish the majority of developers treat the PC community like second rate citizens even though our hardware is capable of so much more, graphics and power wise, as well as control expandability.

I wish that we could just buy the software licenses, I wouldn't mind having a console as much if I could get the games for my PC but still be able to play their counterpart on a console without having to pay for the specific console copy.

as far as I know you can get both the xbox and ps3 controllers to work on PC, I'm not sure what is involved with this though. I know you can't plug your keyboard and mouse into your xbox and ps3 even though they both have usb ports. The only reason I can think of why the this would be the case is it would give any player who just plugs in the keyboard and mouse an unfair advantage.

GetSatisfaction IS their official bug report/feature request website. They actually post there. I saw two posts from Notch himself just today on features he liked.

Okay features they liked, but have they replied to any of the bugs saying "yes we know this bug exists and are getting to it", then adding it to a central list so other players can look to see if their bug is on it and if not report it so it can get added to that list?? Getsatisfaction can be the method used to submit bugs but a step seems missing. We don't know if the company sees them and I am still seeing multiple bugs getting reported multiple times.

without that the most it could do is list bugs, something the forum members here seem happy to do quite incessantly and annoyingly.

At least it could be an organized list and not have the same bug listed a hundred times.

The game on multiplayer doesn't really matter for this situation. The basic game single player works. (so the game is in fact functioning) I am in no way saying there isn't a problem, but the terms are there for Mojang to do what ever.

I can't even play, I only had like 15-30mins the most until I could no longer get it to work? so I can't say I like anymore i haven't had a chance to test new content etc...

She has stated several times, as well as other people repeating that she cannot even log into the game and it freezes at the "done loading" phase.

I still stand by my "she went about the problem wrong" but the problem exists and seems it is not being dealt with in the manor that was agreed upon in the license. Nobody knows where the lines of communication has broken down though. Whether the emails have even reached their destination or not.

And yeah, we are all Beta testers. There isn't a reason for any exclusive group (that you are suggesting solely because you hope you would be granted membership, and/or credited with the idea)- the extent of Beta testing is noting if there are glitches. You can do that whether or not you're in a fancy group.

The point is there is no way for 1000000 members to properly report the bugs, so a much smaller group that is managed by somebody at mojang or somebody closely related to mojang would be able to handle a proper test group. Also most players just want to play the game and don't want to properly document bugs or report them or cant to those who would properly document bugs. I don't care about being in an exclusive group, I just wish there was a list of acknowledged bugs so I know the one I am experiencing is known about and is going to be addressed.

A test is worthless if you never know the results
