posted a message on Please Just Use Pipes.
Among wanting pipes to reduce the number of hoppers chained together, with the current hopper there is no way to move items vertical without dumping them into a cart first.

SO I want pipes for more aesthetics and vertical movement that hoppers do not allow. They could have a range limit on them too so it's not to over powered for item movement.

Dang I guess I am not going to be able to wait until an official release before I update my server, I want quartz blocks so bad.

Nether brick and smooth stone also seem to have visible outlines on the blocks. Some more may have this but that's the only two I've seen so far

Bug Name: No Biome Specific Grass Color on Fancy with new texture system in 13W02a
    Version: 13w02a
Details: The biome specific shading for the sides of the grass blocks no longer seems to be working in the latest snapshot (13w02a) They just have the same stock color you would get as if on fast graphics.

I love the idea of building a tree farm floor out of hoppers, I'm going to have to do that.

So nobody knows how to fix this problem? Even the default pack isn't working for me.

Hopefully some of the functionality will get tweaked. You shouldn't have to load it a lot before it sends a signal or unload it and have it stop sending a signal before it's empty.

While it is a working t-flip flop as small as the ones before the snapshot broke them all tell me how you intend to trigger it besides that button on the side?

Suggestions should be made in the suggestions sub forum.

I do think pipes/tubes would be a great addition to hoppers

There is a reason there is a delay in circuits. I'd be happy with just glass(so you can still see the signal strength) insulated wire to keep lines from crossing.

posted a message on Comparator Block Updates and it's Relative Position
    Quote from AkaSquirticus

Great job! I was working on some circuits and needed to know this. Very helpful!

Just be aware that it might not always work and moving the comparator might do the trick

posted a message on Comparator Block Updates and it's Relative Position
So as most people have found out/ been told know the new comparator will create a constant update in a pattern in front of it. I'm not sure if this is an intended feature or temporary side effect of it's programing but it creates a lot of new possibilities not having to worry about if a block will update or not

Now, I've been testing out circuits I've made to see what ones work and what ones are broken and what I need to do to fix them. One of those broken circuits was every sand elevator I used. The timing between sand falling and pistons moving is now different. The only way to get my elevators working again was using a new circuit involving the comparators and their updating properties.

The problem came when I started converting the circuits from other tree farms in my world and found that the "fix" didn't always work, the position of the comparator in relation to the piston I am forcing an update to makes a difference.

Here's a couple circuits and positions I've tried, some of these work on one circuit and not on others all relating to I can only assume their positions and the order in which Minecraft handles block updates.

It's kind of annoying to not be able to make circuits that are universal and need positions of some elements changed. Of course if you drop comparators in as many possible positions to update the piston as you can then the chances of the circuit working seem to increase but multiple locations might not always be possible

This is only the start of the redstone update and things may change, and this "feature" may even be removed. I hope if they do then they at least fix the sand falling timing so sand conveyors and elevators will still be possible.

posted a message on So are we ever going to fix the open/close door sounds?
No, It's possible and quite useful in redstone to use doors that are open when "closed" and closed when "open" giving them distinct sounds when being opened or closed will make these always sound like they are being closed when opened and vice verse. Not all doors fit nicely into your little box

posted a message on Double Door Locking System
I made one quite compact using the new comparator blocks on "subtract" with the snapshot. It uses "security" doors that are closed when powered so you have to remove power for the doors to open. This way nothing can open them not even a button, torch or lever placed next to the doors. I used these because you don't have to invert the signal from pressure plates when using torches to power a door.

Both sides are exactly the same and requires very little wire. This has a 2 tick delay between doors but it can be expanded one wider and have the doors work simultaneously .

    Stripped down:

    Wider version with synchronized doors:

    More on security doors:

How to place security doors. For a double door you start facing the side you want the door the be flush with. Walk onto the block where the right door will sit on and turn to your left 45 degrees with your back to the door frame. Place the door on the floor, if done right it should appear behind you like so

To place the left door is a little trickier. You need to give the door something to "lock" onto. To do this place a block, any single solid block will do just outside of the door against where the flush side of where the door will be. Then put your back against the wall of the door frame and place a door on the floor. If done right it should also appear behind you like so
