posted a message on 64 bit Java memory increase Shortcut method Guide*much simpler process!*
Hello there, and welcome to this short guide on how to allocate more memory to minecraft*or any other java application!!*

This method is the simplest to date that I have uncovered, with literally only an install of 64 bit java, creation of a new shortcut, and entering of text.

For showing of Console window, replace javaw with java in shortcut parameters.

    Step 1:
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now to get started, download yourself a copy of x64 java*or x86*32 bit*

    http://java.com/en/download/manual.jsp

I recommed 64 bit if you have a 64 bit capable processor and OS, Select the appropriate OS install, and you should be good from here.

    Step 2:
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Next, You need your minecraft.exe location marked down somewhere, you will be needing its location for your shortcut. In my case, it is located in C:\Users\%USERNAME%\Downloads\Minecraft.exe

It will work from ANYWHERE in your pc that you have administrator rights to, so feel free to put that anywhere.

    Step 3:
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Windows:
Finally, you right click on your desktop and click "new shortcut."

    Enter in *Just game window*

    "C:\Program Files\Java\jre7\bin\javaw.exe" -Xmx2G -Xms1G -jar C:\Users\%USERNAME%\Downloads\minecraft.exe

or *Game window & Debug command prompt*

    "C:\Program Files\Java\jre7\bin\java.exe" -Xmx2G -Xms1G -jar C:\Users\%USERNAME%\Downloads\minecraft.exe

Replace %USERNAME% with the name of the user of the pc* IE Joe, Bob, Sarah, Jane, etc.*

And you are good to go. Keep in mind the shortcut target is case sensitive.

posted a message on Corner stairs! I'm loving it! but...
I know jeb was not quite satisfied with the way corner stairs currently works, and I can see the "weirdness" he speaks of. A possible solution: Itemframe style! right clicking on stairs with *some kind of block/item of your choice* in hand will cycle through the possible corner settings/orientation. This will get the desired effect quite easily, And quickly to boot! Just a small feature I've been desiring since beta days ^_^ .

posted a message on Lighting:Something to consider!
As of right now, the lighting engine, being the buggy mess that it is(and is being reworked!) I suggest while you guys are reworking it, to try and allow light to pass through Fences, Cobblestone walls, Slabs, stairs, basically, any NON-full block. To add even more to this, a dimished light level when such an occurance...well...Occurs!

It would add some nice effects, and allow me to mostly hide my light sources. Ambient light is nice on some occasions! ^_^

Hope this thread is noticed/considered by you guys!

    Since you guys are new.

Look into RecipeManager. You can disable the crafting of Nuclear reactors and nukes with that plugin. Just thought I'd lend a helping hand XD

*I hope you have enough slots, cause we are all pretty active :P*

I plan on building dungeons that players in the game can explore and get loot, may need assistance from moderators to do some stuff that is restricted(aka, Falsebook commands for special functionality, certain blocks*Block id 44:6 i believe is a normally unobtainable block* and a few other things, and this isn't for "my own build" its for the entire server to explore.(World guard the area, so that it cant be destroyed, but still interacted with.)

I'll check it out. We shall see!

Server crashes every 5-10 minutes, down for about 3 in between crashes. Mediocre Quality connection(reappearing blocks every now and again.)

Mods are good, and community is decent, but the hardware of the server needs work(from what I've seen.) or need an IT tech guy to fix some server kinks.

With each crash comes a rollback(from what Ive seen, ive had to rebuild my base twice now.) Inventory stays, but any block breaks underground cause you to suffocate when you relog back on.

skip this one out, or have patience, and wait for admin to fix hardware issues(if it is hardware.)

    Idea:

Wheat is craftable into Grain, Which you can fill in a feeding troph, which you can craft from wood and logs.

    :Glass: :Glass: :Glass:
    :wood: :Glass: :wood:
    :Logs^: :wood: :Logs^:

Would be a crafting recipie possibility, glass being air, or nothing. You would right click with grain in hand, Which would fill it with 3 levels like the cauldron. All animals will eat from it, Cows would get milk refilled, Sheep Wool regrow, And Pigs get fatter...they drop more porkchops on death(max of 10)

Creepers can eat it too, and cloning itself...so Hide it well!...XD

posted a message on A gfx card for this build?
    Quote from TheFieldZy

You are wrong. I have never had an issue with drivers with my 6950. AMD and nVidia are neck and neck, neither are really ahead.

Physx is pretty much useless in most cases.

    Not what I mean.

It lacks the drivers to fully utilize the locked potential within the cards.

And agreed that physx is mostly useless, but like I said, In games that use them, it lacks in the visual war.

Like I said, not trying to start a war.

The only reason I did not link that card that you did, was because I just bought the 460 myself, As my GTX 260 had died. With the PtP ratio after rebate(price to performance) the 460 wins between the two.

It is however out of stock...so Probably AMD would be your best bet.

And I was considering that exact card, but decided against it due to the track record with AMD drivers.

The Hardware in the AMD cards is superior to the Nvidia versions, but lack the drivers to utilize all of the power. This results in better fps performance in certain situations(a very well coded game, for example.)

AMD however,(to my knowledge) lacks a dedicated Physx...errm...component(train of thought was spirited away.) As such, In games that utilize Physx, It looks noticeably worse.

Not starting a flame war, labling the strengths and weaknesses of both brands so that you can better decide on your video card, as choosing one is a PITA(I know, I build computers for people in my family, and friends.)

Hope what you buy sates your need for a video card for a few years.

Know anything about building computers yourself? If you do, buy them separately, it will be cheaper for you, and you can get better.

A video card priced at 150 would be a GTX 460 hands down(there is a MIR 119.99 zotac)

(edited out the double section, not sure how that happened O.o)

    Hello, and Welcome!

After modifying and compiling a few private texture packs, I have decided to work on my own.

The reasoning behind this is to have a texture pack that fits my personal taste.

Eventually, I will add full support for the GLSL shaders mod, but only after everything is "finalized".

Also, If there are enough requests to do mod blocks(IE BTW blocks) I will also do them. However, Not until the main textures themselves are done.

    Here are some starter screenies:

Once it becomes more complete, downloads will be posted.
