    Hi guys,

    Since the zombie update I've been finding it increasingly difficult to get records from Creeper drops. With the zombies HUGE aggro radius I keep getting either interrupted, or the creeper ends up swarmed with large groups of zombies acting as a giant meat shield. And woe to the poor skeleton trailing behind, he ends up getting ripped apart the moment he accidentally hits one of his zambie cousins...

    I'm not gonna and moan about it, because well... The update is as it is, it's not gonna change just because I want it to. So I pose the question.

    Has anyone uncovered any decent strategies to getting the discs in Survival without zombie interference? I'm wracking my brain trying to think of traps or techniques I can use, but I got nothing useful so far.


    Any decent tips?

    Hi guys, sorry to shamelessly request this, but I need help if someone knows where to find it.

    I'm looking for a Black and white checkerboard/Chessboard style texture to re-texture one of my wool blocks. Preferably with the same number of squares, but close to it is enough. I'll take what I can get :P

    Very rarely spawn naturally...

    I just came from a village which was overrun by the little b**tards, and the moment I intervened many more showed up, adults and infants alike.


    The mechanic is nice for zombie spawning in general, but it severely needs a tweak or two. I don't want to have to put up with a horde of zombie midgets every time night falls.

    It's not bad as a foundation to build upon.

    Though I'd say it looks too similar to a simple square, reinforced by the fact that the turrets are square too.

    Look at some pictures of castles, they weren't all square and most architects back in the day worked with what they had (I.E. they didn't always have flat land to work with, so they'd build into hills and ditches as needed. This makes the builds look more natural.)

    I'd change some of the textures as well, the majority of it is built as cobblestone with a small trim of stone brick and honestly if I was only looking at the thumbnail it just looks like cobblestone all round. Gotta add some contrast to the colours to make details pop out or it's just gonna look like a giant grey brick from a distance.

    I think that's enough to start with, looks like you've just started this build anyhow.

    Very nice! Blends in well with what i'm using. Better yet, still serviceable as a flower pot when it's needed.

    I've never been too familiar with mods in games, but i'll keep my eyes open for a medieval themed "utensils" or Accessories mod, guess I was looking in the wrong place for that kinda thing.

    I've used the 128x128 texture and it's damn good for what I need, so thanks for the time you took making it!

    Hi guys,

    I've searched through a number of texture packs and not found much to my liking, so I'm hoping someone else has found what I'm looking for.

    I'm looking for a Texture of a Flower Pot which looks like a grey Stone Cup or Flagon, medieval style. Most of the ones I've seen have been either an orange clay or miniature wooden box sort of style.

    So if anyone has something similar, please throw an image my way and post credit to the source material.

    It has it's pro's and it's cons.

    Yes, Zombies are now and no longer the bottom-feeder of minecraft, they actually pose a threat now. This makes the game a lot more challenging.

    However, Their aggro range is horrendously wide. I have no problem with them being able to call in reinforcements, but being able to track you from 50+ blocks away is getting tedious. It also appears they've gotten the "Spider-vision" upgrade, I've found that most are able to know you're nearby without having direct line of sight to you.

    One thing I was struggling with only recently was attempting to herd creepers and skeletons so I could grab a record. Zambies made a B-Line to me almost instantly from all directions, skeletons ended up shooting many of the zombies leaving the skeleton to be mauled to death by the zombie. Because of trying to kite creepers, skeletons (and the zombies which HAD to show up) I ended up with a sea of burning zombies by morning and 4fps video rate. Was kind of disappointed with that.

    All in all, I like the premise of the idea, but this definitely needs some polish. The aggro range is insanely large, the amount of zombies means that even an iron sword will deplete within less than 2 minutes of a swarmed attack and hunger depletes on par with weapon degradation.

    I don't think the idea needs to be done away with, but like I said. It needs some work and balancing.

    No, every passive mob other than bats can be leashed. Not sure about squids, and definitely not sure about hostile mobs.

    Try it with a Creeper :P

    I've seen problems with chickens merging into walls and dying, their drops get stuck inside the blocks and become hidden. It's a similar issue that squids have when they get too close to the surface, they essentially suffocate as you can gradually hear their health decline until they die.

    Unfortunately I have no solution to fix other than expand the borders of your chicken pen and give them room to move so they don't end up clashing with the walls.

    Hmmm... might have something to do with a change of code for the Nameplates addition to 1.6 for making certain mobs permanently exempt from disappearing.
    There has been a long running issue with Wolves De-Spawning from time to time, cats not so much, but they are not immune to it.


    As for livestock? I've never really had an issue with it yet, I still have all the numbers of cattle and sheep that I keep as the herds I keep nearby in certain bio-mes. They sometimes migrate if left Un-penned but they still remain usually in the same locale without issue. Check to see if any have wandered off.

    Because there is also an issue with fences at present, the little buggers like to warp through the posts like they don't exist sometimes, chickens are notorious for getting stuck inside them on my own play through experience.

    What with the new zombie aggressor AI you could make a potion from it that makes you invisible to zombies for a period of time.

    Just trying to think of something useful for it... It just clogs my chests needlessly these days

    More input into the oceans to make them worthwhile to explore. More sea creatures passive and hostile, sunken cities/ruins, shipwrecks to explore, make fishing more interesting with different resources. (Old leather boots, etc)

    Something that makes pigs worthwhile besides their pork, they're practically a cosmetic mob now that horses have been introduced.

    Stained Glass and Glass slabs/stairs.

    Bio-me specific monsters and threats. Slimes populate swamps, we still have deserts/mountains/tundra etc to fill out.

    Toning down the zombie aggro radius slightly or giving villagers a bit of Leigh way, too many villages are becoming deserted overnight... Even Golems cant keep up

    The sight mechanic does have a flaw though...

    Any Zombie spawned can now see targets they prefer to attack at a much larger radius.


    As a result, every village I've encountered has been little more than a ghost town within little more than a couple of days, all doors missing, homes empty etc.


    Their aggro range needs to be toned down, I'm fine with the horde mechanics they have just now, but they're pretty much leaving me to renovate and repopulate entire villages from scratch if I ever want to trade.
