    Anyways, you should never run your server, on the same machine your would play on, just no.

    You said you should never, thats your opinion which you should have stated. There is nothing wrong with it if you have the right specs.

    Why can't you run the server off the same machine you play on?

    If it's powerful enough their's no problem with playing on the same pc and running the server.

    Well your pc is great so you could always rent a minecraft server or get a friend to do it with a better connection.

    Your pc is fine but if you upload and download speeds are correct well thats going to be a big issue.

    Well I'm not sure about this but I think I read somewhere that it's 0.25kbs for each person. (Upload)

    Dont quote me on that I'm not sure but a 500-700kbs upload speed should be well over enough.

    There's another post like this and I will post the same thing.

    You are asking to run a server that will hold 8-10 people this wont be cheap, but If your short on cash you could always ask a few other regulars that will be on the server to chip in a couple of $£'s a month.

    They're plenty of survival server's out there you could check out try hpcraft.de lag is never an issue.

    But if you want to set up your own server but with a host then with 8-10 people it's not going to be cheap. :Diamond: :Diamond:

    I'm not sure it will be cheap or run on a cheap host, as you said 8 players.

    If your looking for a server try hpcraft.de it's great our forum is http://board.hpminecraft.de/.

    Right now it's on the temp server because of our normal server had hmod plugins so waiting for bukkit to update them.

    But like I said if you want a server set up for the 8 of you it wont be cheap try asking them to chip in. Two £'s each? a month that not a lot is it. :Diamond: :Diamond:

    It's easy to set up and run just make sure the server properties are how you want them to be.

    level-name=world
    hellworld=false
    spawn-monsters=true (you can change these if you don't want monsters or animals)
    online-mode=true
    spawn-animals=true
    max-players=3 (I would put 3 just in case you would like another mate to join)
    server-ip= (IPv4 goes here)
    pvp=false (Want to fight each other? Put it to true XD)
    server-port=25565 (default is 25565, just forward your ports with your ip which you can find out by going to cmd and type ipconfig, look for IPv4: 192.168.X.X)

    level-name=world
    hellworld=false
    spawn-monsters=true
    online-mode=true
    spawn-animals=true
    max-players=3
    server-ip=192.168.X.X
    pvp=true
    server-port=25565

    Try using mineos with ramdisk

    The server runs off your ram and is so much faster well if you have a lot of ram that is.

    No actually the reason I made it so that nobody can build is that it stops griefers from entering the server, when im not there, and destroying other people's work.

    All i wanted to do was test the ip i gave out not the whole server part, i wanted to see if it was correct before i set the server up properly.

    And as for people saying i harassed them this is not true, it's not my fault you come onto the server saying "GAYAYAYAYAYAYAGAGAYAYAYA" and telling me that i cannot make a server. When i have been making server's since i first got minecraft at the middle of this year (2010).

    My experience with making servers has made me make guests not be able to build so they look around accept everything and then once i know they wont destroy everything i add them to the member list.
    This stops any kind of person who go's onto server's just to grief.
