    Alright everybody - full disclosure.

Running the server is getting more and more annoying with each update, as more and more plugins that are essential to our server are getting broken. Multiverse is basically dead, and I'm running a version that was hacked together for compatibility. MCMMO is in the same boat - more and more "core" plugin developers are dropping like flies, with fewer and fewer new possibilities to replace them.

Things that took 10 minutes to set up when the server first started is now taking hours of research and tweaking just to maintain with each update, so this is what we are looking at in the future:

Mid term: Multiverse might have to go. This really only impacts the Creative world, and anything that was built in Superflat (I think just a couple slime farms), so it shouldn't be too big of a deal.

Long term: "essentials", the plugin pack that allows homes and teleportation, has been running on duct tape and a prayer for over 2 years now, and I am more concerned with it shattering with every update. I need to find an alternative. "McMMO" has been getting less support and more difficulty with every update, now requiring a bunch of java development nonsense just to get running. This might die too eventually.

This points to the server heading in less of a "semi-vanilla" and more "pure vanilla" (with whatever plugins are still well-maintained), probably within the next year (no changes on the immediate horizon). Many servers basically stopped updating to keep using plugins, often at 1.7 or older. That is NOT a direction I am interested in - MCL will always be as close as possible to Vanilla updates, and will never require a modded client to join.

Once the full Windows 10 version of minecraft catches up with the Java version, I am also seriously considering taking the whole server to that new version, which I expect to be far better supported and sustainable in the long term (I'm sure Microsoft is planning extremely neat features like an actual plugin API, and its backbone is a lot more stable), but that will certainly be over a year from now.

Crazy to see how much has changed about plugin compatibility over the years, and what plugins have actually survived.

Checked out the Desert Spawn earlier, that thing is absolutely sick! Can't wait to see what other sorta builds are going to win the warp contest. Anyone working on a build for it?

How long you’ve been playing minecraft 6 years.

Your age (we have no age limit, but most players are over 18) I'm 18

Something about you or why you want to join Honestly, I'm AGAIN looking for a good vanilla server. I tend to join new ones but they usually die out in a couple of months and that's why I started to look for bigger and more active vanilla servers. This community looks like a very good one since it's by the looks of it very active and professional. Nothing is more rage inducing than playing a lot of a server only for it to die out.

Name something you've always wanted to build in MC but never have been able to I've always wanted to build a huge medievalish town with a lot of people on the server, where each one builds his own house and we all contribute to the castle etc.

I'm looking forward to the reply! :)

This community is pretty strong! I'm sure once they whitelist you you'll notice even though there isn't a heap of people on. It won't be going anywhere anytime soon just like stated in the post, some of our oldest members of the community are still playing from 2014 :)

Welp, I have 1/3 of this water space emptied. Taking a while, naturally. Made some invisibility potions for when the guardian spawns begin to get too much.

If you want to mine out some quartz for me I'll dish out some of my res for it. Name a material you need =)

Yup, I'm sure we can work some kind of trade out for ores or other building materials. Idk too much about new blocks so you could trade me for a couple things I haven't seen yet. Nonetheless, my base is coming along well, got my chest room and mess hall/craftery mined out, now to style the rooms.

Maybe you could gimme one of those gliders ;)

I'm starting a new guardian farm to put my last to shame. What material designs do people suggest? I was thinking quartz, but I don't have enough to pad the area. Does anyone have tons of spare quartz?

Honestly all the new blocks ever since I started playing again from a couple of years ago allow for so many more designs than before. I'm going for a spruce wood and stone theme for my underground hideout, but idk what I'll do for the buildings overground above the mountain that my home is carved into.

Currently trying to extend my underground hideout to include a way bigger chest room, a workshop, and some personal player rooms for when some people join the server. I plan to recruit a couple people to live and progress with eventually :)

Calling my underground hideout The Trap

Lemme know if you need any help with the guardian farm tho man, wouldn't have any problem helping you mine out some more quartz to fill, honestly forgot that block even existed.

Hey all, I won't be able to be on for a while, unforeseen events happened. I am now down a hard drive on my PC, I will be back on when I get a new one. Might be a few weeks though...

Also How has it been guys? I haven't seen you two or talked to you two I ages. Yes the server has evolved an is staying strong. Looking forward to getting it ready for 1.12!

Also Erik, why the disappearance and shut down of the old MCL?

To be honest man, I was 15-16 years old, and at that time, I was in 10th grade and dedicating a lot of my time to the server. But in turn, the more time I dedicated to the server meant the less time I would be spending doing any of my school work lmao. So after awhile, close to the middle of my sophomore year when everything started piling up from either accumulated homework to projects and then studying for exams of course.

Not sure how my memory of the server at the time is, but I'm pretty sure we were in the process of building a new castle spawn, though I think we only managed to get it set up as our main spawn for a small amount of time before we were all talking about a map switch because the land was used and abused over the course of a year or so. And in the process of this map switch while we were getting peoples builds together and saving them was when I had this huge lump-some of schoolwork that I had to deal with in real life. Even though, to my memory, the server was profiting well and everyone was happy with all the additions we were able to make over time with the accumulated donations--even after sillf0x scammed me out of the original MCL's funds and made me start over--the demand from my school and parents sort of forced me to slowly stop being active.

After awhile, it had come to where I was only logging on once or twice a week very briefly, and at that time had noticed that there was only one or two people on whenever I would. A month had passed by since we'd been planning the map switch and I honestly felt really bad, as I knew I'd let you guys down. At that time was when I saved the world on my old MacBook Pro and then discontinued the hosting, although it was paid for another month at the time so the server must have stayed up for a bit after that. I discontinued it as I had seen that it was dying out by looking at the player base and how outdated the server was at that point; with my immediate responsibilities in school at the time not only did I have to spend a crap ton of time fixing my grades but my parents also wouldn't let me play Minecraft in the house all day like I would when the server was at its prime.

After awhile, about 3 months or so passed after the server actually went offline, and I was almost done with school, having summer right around the corner. I had some more free time, so I actually logged onto MCL+ because I noticed that Aegis started a new server, notifying everyone in the old thread. I was mainly stopping by to say hello and see if everyone was doing well, but I ended up coming back a little while after and playing for a bit; I made a little underground home that I didn't get to far with, and had no partners on the server so my interest sort of diminished (and this is the only server I'd really ever want to play on, so I stopped playing MC altogether pretty much). Once I stopped playing MC, I didn't really play any other games at the time so I just got sucked into real life to be completely honest at that point. The next two years leading up to now are honestly a long story for another time, but rest assured I haven't been idle.

I still haven't seen any of the old players on the server these past couple days I've been playing, where ya guys at?

Wow, it's been so long guys! I'm honestly so glad to see that this server is still up, it really is nostalgic. For that I gotta give a big thanks to Aegisjester, even though I haven't been present these 2-3 years you guys really don't know how great of a feeling it is to know that some of my most dedicated players from back in the day still actually hop on the server.

I noticed that there aren't too many of us on, with so much time passed I'm sure that everyones lives have gotten very busy, just as mine has. Nonetheless, I hope you've all been doing well. I'm not too up to date on what's going on, of course, so let me know if you guys are still around! I'd love to hop on and bust some blocks down with you guys like the old times.
