I hope Notch creates an original underwater mob. Minecraft's recent mob additions have arguably been a bit generic, and it would be nice to see something iconic like the creeper come up again in development.
I'm starting to think of it as beef jerky instead of rotten flesh, with how much I eat it. It's very convenient, because I never carry any food on hand as I'm walking around... and rotten flesh is the only food source I don't really have to go out of my way to get.
The Ender isn't really meant to be a dimension in the same way the Nether is. The sole purpose of the existence of the Ender, so far as I can tell, is to provide a stage for Minecraft's final boss fight. It's not meant to make travel easier or provide new resources, apart from those you get from defeating the boss. Instead of the next world, the Ender is the final stage.
And do you notice how easy the endermen are to see, thanks to their purple eyes? The dragons will have that exact same feature in addition to light grey outlines on their wings and body.
If he wasn't joking about phasing through the terrain, would he be joking about their being invincible?
In the Ender, I could see how making the dragons invulnerable makes a bit of sense. You'll never want to stay there long for fear that you will be annihilated from out of nowhere. But if we don't go to the Ender to kill the dragons, then why WILL we go there...?
Well, I don't know much about the physics of lava and fire but I think it can be deduced fairly accurately what happened: Your lava trash bin set your home on fire, and some of it burned down. Sorry for your loss, at least it wasn't total!
I think this was mostly a balance option, when they were made of planks the abandoned mineshafts basically allowed you to stay underground indefinitely. With less planks available, you'll need to be more prepared before attempting to brave something like the abandoned mineshafts.
Different biomes have different affinities for animal spawning. Mountain biomes, for example, tend to spawn a ****load of sheep, with the occasional chicken. Plains are good for cows/pigs, swamps are big on pigs, and I'm sure there are a bunch of other affinities you can discover.

...There's no enderdragon in that picture.

Care to cite a source? I'm only speaking from my personal experience, but the wiki does not say anything on the matter.
