posted a message on [MOD Idea] Living, Breathing Player Created Towns.
It's certainly doable, but I think a simpler way of detecting rooms is just with the x and z axes, much like a town in towny.
You could use a //wand-type tool to select two corners of the room and "/room set kitchen" or something like that.
    Just my two cents.

posted a message on Looking for a falling dirt mod
    Heya,

I'm looking for a mod that will make dirt fall like sand in 1.5+
It would be great if I could add other blocks to a config, like stone, to test as well, but I need at least dirt to fall.

    Thanks!

posted a message on Recently got a Blue Snowball. Best way to record minecraft with it?
It's not hard at all, at the beginning of your video you set a mark by saying something like "1, 2, 3, go" and making a brief visual action on screen as you say "go", like clicking a button or jerking your cursor, anything really.
Then when you're editing the video later on, you can just line the audio up so the two marks meet, and the rest of the audio will be in sync for the whole video.
I recommend audacity because it will do everything you need for free.
If you're really averse to editing the sound seperately, you can just check the option to record your micropone in fraps or whatnot and it will record you over the game audio, but be warned that you will not be able to cut out any clips of your voice without removing the game audio as wel.

posted a message on How much RAM would be needed to record videos?
    Quote from The_Xseption

Well everyone generally speaks about how good a computer is in terms of RAM. Just like weight lifters compare each other using bench press, and nutritionists use calories. These are just general measurements that don't fully reflect anything, but help to give some sort of explanation. If you only have 2 gigs RAM on your computer then you probably aren't going to have the best CPU, GPU, HDD speed, or whatever else, and likewise if you are shopping for a new computer most people recognize RAM while they may not know how powerful the other parts are. Most likely the computer at the store with more RAM will have better parts as well to compliment each other. So while you are right, most people wouldn't know what to look for with the other parts and would be confused if you tried to explain it. Also even with a good CPU and HDD write speed, I don't think 2 gigs of RAM would cut it for recording a game like minecraft which requires a lot of memory to run without dropping frames, maybe other games on lower settings but it's still not ideal.

Spoken like a true mac user.

As has been stated, the performance you achieve during gameplay and recording is most heavily dependant on the CPU.
If you have custom shaders you'll need a powerful GPU as well, but it's not as important for an unmodded client.
I have a state of the art CPU but an outdated and shabby GPU, I get 1-2 thousand frames per second on normal draw distance, 3 thousand on the lowest settings in debug mode.
Your amount of RAM solely dictates the amount of tasks your computer can think about at once, or how large a single task can grow.
As I'm sure you know, the longer a video file is, the larger its filesize will be, right?
So while you're recording a video, its filesize will steadily grow larger.
Since the video channel is actively loaded in your RAM while you record, you will steadily consume more and more free memory as time goes on (however, more modern and sophisticated video capture software can often circumvent this obstical)
In my opinion, 2gb of RAM is just enough to run minecraft itself, so no, I wouldn't recommend you try recording, though it can be done with the right software and configuration, providing you have the overall processing power to pull it off.

Are you willing to code server mods for your minigames?
If so I'd maybe want to work with you on one that I have in mind.
I don't care for the $5 and I'd rather not post it here.

posted a message on Anybody want to host a server for me, you can be co-owner
    Quote from SenkO
Host a server in you home computer is bad... Buy an actual server host, or better, buy yourself a good VPS.

    What? Why?
Hosts are expensive and provide no advantages or benefits over self-hosted servers, other than guarenteed uptime.
The only reason to not host yourself is if your rig/internet isn't capable.
I'd offer to host his server, I have a kick-ass computer, I just can't promise it will stay up 24/7.

posted a message on Looking for a large build project
    Hi,

I'm looking for a new or existing team that needs an extra builder for their project that is being planned/is planned or being built from reference (like building cities from famous fiction).
I am not available for voice chat, but I can be easily contacted via instant message almost always.
I have tons of free time before I start my next semester of college, and even then I'll have time to commit.
If you're a somewhat mature (I'm 20 and don't want to hang out with any 12 year olds) and laid back build crew who won't mind me working slowly (going afk for periods of time), hit me up and let's have some fun.
My contact info is in my profile, or you can PM me.

posted a message on looking for work
    1. I have no screenshots.
    2. I have tons of time to spend building.
    3. I'm great with redstone.
    4. I'm bored of doing random stuff by myself and I want some sort of direction, someone else's project I can mindlessly work on.

I'm 18 and a full time college student.
I have been playing minecraft since it was what is now called classic.
I don't have a microphone for vent/mumble but I'm on every im network almost 24/7.
I'm looking for a preferrably new/emptyish server that has a large, ambitious project planned out that will require lots of building.
edit: on a side note I can also help out with administration if needed, or even create custom texture packs.

You can contact me here or via:
