If anyone still plays and posts here, does anyone know what the enchantment “vampiric” does, or how many levels it goes up to.

From what I can tell, it seems to be one of the rarest enchantments in the game (I’m in version r104). I managed to get sharpness 2, looting 3, and vampiric 2.

From the description of it, and the name, I’m guessing it involves regenerating your health slightly when you kill a mob. However, I can’t seem to figure out the mechanic. I spent a whole night out fighting mobs, keeping my health around 5 hearts the whole time. When I killed mobs, my health didn’t go up. However, sporadically (maybe twice throughout a whole night) my health bar would fill all the way to 10.

Does the enchantment “save up” 10 hearts of damage at a time from killed mobs, then restore you to full health when this is reached? If so, it seems one could simply kill a certain amount of mobs, then go somewhere dangerous (ie mining) and use a different sword, and if your health gets low, simply switch to the vampiric sword, kill one mob, and be restored to full health instantly.

If not, how does the enchantment work?

Is this forum dead? I took a couple months off because I left for college and kind of forgot about Minecraft as a whole. But I just redownloaded on my school laptop and am going to add this mod as well, then transfer my saves. But I came back to forums and found that only one or 2 comments had been added.

Is Avernite still developing the mod? Does anyone here even still play? I hope there’s still active players, because I played vanilla a bit earlier today while reinstalling the game, and compared to how fun MITE is, the difference is night and day.

I've also been having the Steve skin bug for about a month now. If I switch to vanilla my normal skin is back so it is indeed a MITE issue. Here's the weird thing: I'm still playing in r104, but I still got the Steve skin bug right around the time other players reported it. This would indicate to me that it is somehow independent of the version which doesn't make any sense to me.

If you need to break the dragon egg, I've found that you can use TNT to blow it up. Also on a related note, in r104, detonated end stone drops as cobblestone. I'm not sure if this bug has been fixed in later versions.

Mithril AND adamantium anvils in under 200 days? That has to be a record at least for adamantium, probably mithril too. In my r104 world, I hit mithril anvil around day 500 or 600. As of now at day 900 or so, I only have 21 adamantium so only about 2/3 to that anvil. One thing is for sure: there is no pattern to adamantium in r104, except that it appears in incredibly rare pockets at super low level.

Your story directly contradicts what I was told by Ouatcheur in an earlier post. He told me that in newer versions it is much harder to find metals, and that me having a mithril anvil in a mere 600 days would be laughable in newer versions. From your story, it seems to be the exact opposite. One thing is for sure: in r104, you sure aren't going to get an adamantium anvil in 185 days. Even with a server with one person constantly mining and the other generating food, I still don't think it would be possible. It's just way too rare. I personally like it that way, but I'm just confused about why he thought the newer versions had way less ores than r104 because that clearly isn't true.

Glad to see you've managed to mine some ores successfully. You're getting some levels as well. Once you get a lot of torches I'd say you're probably ready to explore some caves. I would recommend not making any armor out of your metals until you get an anvil, because it will wear out quickly and you won't be able to repair it. Full leather, silver sword, and 10-15 levels was what I had to explore my first caves until I reached iron anvil.

For a chicken farm, I would try to do some sort of full enclosure with a glass roof if possible. My setup is: cobblestone walls for the walls, glass for the roof. I also have it about 300 blocks away from my house so no mobs even spawn there at night. The size really depends on how many chickens you want. If you crowd them you won't get any eggs. My chicken pen is 12x12 and holds 30-40 chickens while keeping them healthy. I would think a 6x6 could hold around 20 without major issues and this would not be a huge work input. Make sure the inside is lit up and that there is some water supply for the chickens. I built mine in a plains biome around a small natural pool.

Id say a few days for a mature stem to produce a pumpkin based off of experience. It will probably take a while for the stem to grow. It takes like 20 days iirc. You were right about sugar cane not blighting (unless avernite changed this since r104). Melon and pumpkins don't blight, but every time they bear a fruit they have a chance to die, meaning you'll need to replant.

Blood moons occur every 32 days. However, every 4th blood moon will be a blue moon, meaning that blue moons occur every 128 days. If you didn't know, you can use the command /day to see what day your world is on. Note that the blood moon will almost certainly blight your crops in the new releases. Bone meal can heal them though so if you manage to accumulate some you could theoretically cure a small crop field post-blood moon.

If there are ores exposed to air, get those first. You said height is a problem but it can actually not be too bad in the early days. Just pillar up, mine, and dig the blocks below you back down. Here's a helpful tip: use gravel to pillar up to the ores. Then, when you're done mining and you need to break them all, you can get shards and nuggets on the way back down! The picture you showed me indicates that you're definitely still early enough in the game that flint axes will be your main source of wood and nuggets are still super valuable. So you'd be grinding this gravel anyways (I'm sure to get that pick you learned how tedious it is) so why not get two uses out of it? Pillar up and dig it. Also when you pillar up make sure you have enough food to make it up, mine, and dig back down.

Until you have torches don't even consider going into the caves. You will almost certainly experience a swift death. Especially when you've still got only 3 hearts. Ideally you should try to get two more for a total of 5 before venturing into any deep caves.

I finally found a nether fortress. There is a serious problem though. I explored it and I found two nethetwart staircases (soul sand with netherwart). However neither of them had a single bit of netherwart! I'm sorely tempted to cheat and give myself a few netherwart. Because I explored the fortress fair and square and if this is a bug it would be game breaking to not have any netherwart.

Update: I read through the changelogs and saw that this bug was fixed in r105 which is good. Unfortunately it seems I'm stuck with it in r104. Am I totally SOL in terms of brewing for this world? Or was the bug a fortress by fortress basis meaning that I might find netherwart in a different fortress? If not I'll be super disappointed because I'll never be able to brew, meaning that I'll have no potions and the end fight will ultimately be much more difficult. And I'll never be able to further explore the nether effectively without fire resistance potions. To top it all off I can't cheat (is it even cheating if a big is the sole reason I have no netherwart) because the "treachery detected" game shutdown corrupts any save in which it is attempted. I of course had backups before trying this fortunately. I commend you for the anti cheat efforts as it was and continues to be very effective. I know a lot of people would abuse the save files to give themselves full gear without it. I'm wondering if there is any possible way to get myself netherwart on this save. Maybe someone can private message me about a solution (if it involves cheating or something I wouldn't want it to be on the forums)

I don't know. Last time I checked in January of 2017, the most recent download was r104 and that's why I've been playing on it since then. I'm sure someone who knows a bit more about the recent updates can help you find r196. If I can find the download link for r196 I'll let you know.

I'll definitely try what you said about the pumpkin and melon planting. I have noticed a lot of death in the stems like you said. I usually have plenty of pumpkins/ melons to replace them but the killer is bonemealing then back to full growth.

I will have to try a later release. After you reach a certain point in r104 (around day 500), the game starts to feel vanilla-esque. Plus, I've got to see the new stuff like the underworld and the mushroom caves.

This insulin resistance mechanic sounds interesting as well given that from ~day 20 or so until well over day 100 I basically ate sugar constantly to stretch out the food (I might add, as someone with diabetes, it isn't an accurate mechanic, because eating sugar will not make you resistant to insulin lol, but gameplay wise it's spot on).

It's been a few months since I've posted here. I'm still on r104, but I've been keeping up with the new updates and I'm glad to see this mod still has an active fanbase and an active developer. Anyways, I thought I'd post about my progress and maybe share some tips. I'm at day 690 in my world now, and I have made a ton of progress. Last time I posted, I had just hit mithril anvil. Since then, I've focused a lot more on farming and developing a steady and massive food supply so that I will never have to go hungry again. I have found that the key components to an end-game food supply are: reasonably large vegetable farm (all 4 crops-carrots, potatoes, onions, and wheat- I have big lines of farmland as shown in the picture and spread the crops out in this order to avoid blight, but this won't work in newer releases). Another big key is to get a big pumpkin/melon farm going. Each melon essentially equates to a piece of cheese assuming the plant doesn't die, and the pumpkin pies and soups are an excellent food supply. Also, never use any of your wheat to craft seeds for replanting. You can easily gather the necessary seeds by breaking grass instead of using up your much more difficult-to-obtain wheat.

As far as animals, you only need 2: chickens and cows. Chickens provide feathers, eggs, and of course chicken, and at a low breeding cost. The chicken can also be made into a "better" food source (chicken soup). Cows provide milk for cream soups, cheese, and poison negation while mining (if you plan on getting mithril and adamantium, you will need to bring milk, because you are going to get poisoned at one point or another by a demon spider or a cave spider spawner). Also, cows provide leather (not super important) and steak, which can be made into a "better" food as well: beef stew. Pig and sheep farms are not especially useful. I have found that spiders provide more than enough string to cover wool needs (just from killing themselves by falling off my roof and into the cacti), and their meat cannot even be made into a "better" food source. Pigs are entirely useless, as they only provide porkchops, which cannot be made into a better food either. So focus on cows and especially chickens early on. If you can get a mere 16 cows and ~30 chickens you will have more than enough.

On the mining side of things, I have been doing a fair bit of mining as well, and I would say I am officially into the mithril age now, with 43 mithril, an anvil, and a sword+war hammer. I've found that the limiting factor to obtaining top-tier gear is not the metals, but the XP. I don't want to waste mithril on average quality items, but higher quality items are obscenely expensive. But they are worth it. The mithril sword and war hammer I have are both high quality and well enchanted, and are hardly even close to needing repairs.

I am up to 18/31 adamantium needed for the anvil. But unfortunately, I have yet to discover a nether fortress to obtain the blaze rods, so I'm in no hurry to finish that anvil.

I also managed to fill a whole chest with iron blocks, and just for aesthetic reasons, I started storing my valuable metals in strongboxes.

My advice for finding lots of iron, and mithril/adamantium is to go as deep as possible. You can find iron at mid-levels in decent quantity, so you should obtain an anvil and full iron armor (this will seem daunting at first, but it is not as hard as at seems- iron is actually pretty common if you get relatively deep into a cave). Don't even consider going down to lava levels without iron tools and armor, milk bowls, enchanted+silver weapons, and a decently high heart count. You will almost certainly die otherwise. My best piece of advice to getting down to lava level fast is to find a mineshaft and follow it. Usually, it will get deeper and will intersect with a cave. Make sure to bring a LOT of torches. The mineshaft also has the bonus of providing planks to make more torches out of mined coal. When you're finally down in a deep cave, the best strategy is to light up the perimeters first, then place a few torches in the center. Place torches on the wall, not the ground. They won't light up as much, but mobs cannot destroy them, and this will happen at lower depths. After you've got it decently lit up, pour water over ALL lava lakes and place more torches as necessary to light up the area. With the large danger at such depths, you can easily eliminate the threat of fire elementals and falling into lava. Once everything is lit up and the lava lakes are cleared, you can begin harvesting the ores in the area. A war hammer is the only way to go while mining as far as durability. Another tip: make sure you have plenty of food. For a mining trip, I bring 2 stacks of cheese, or the equivalent in satiation+nutrition. This amount of food will pretty much fill your inventory with ores and leave you with enough to safely find your way back out of the cave without starving to death. The most important thing is to turn your sound up and be mindful of your surroundings. If you hear something, stop mining right away and get ready to fight. You'll eventually learn the sounds of the new mobs, such as ghouls, shadows, and demon spiders. But don't try to finish mining the block you're on, because the mob will always arrive faster than you think. Then, you'll sustain damage AND lose progress on the block, so it isn't worth it.

My tips on building a large house are: kill creepers and raid desert temples for TNT. It is your best friend. You can get an obnoxious amount of cobblestone. I was told by another player on forums to use cobblestone walls to save on costs, but I've found that I have PLENTY of cobble to build whatever I want AND build up a supply. TNT will get you all the cobblestone you need.

If you can establish a medium-large metal supply and a farm that provides well over what you can possibly consume, the game is yours. At this point, my only goals left are to continue expanding my house, mostly just for aesthetic purposes, find more mithril and adamantium, explore the nether and find blaze rods, and eventually conquer the end. But I've reached the point where I need not expand my farms anymore, and can sit back and reap the rewards. I don't need to seriously worry about food at this point. The sooner you can get to this point, the more you'll be able to enjoy the other challenges of the game, such as mining. I hope my post was helpful to any newcomers, or even some people who have played for a while and were wondering about the later game. I included a few pics as well.

i believe you misunderstand what I meant. I keep 6 cows at all times. It only takes a bit of bonemeal to preserve these 6. I alternate between breeding and letting them, slaughtering the excess, and letting them become healthy again. I have more than 6 including babies at times, but there are never more than 6 adults. The farm is close to my home so it isn't an inconvenience to visit daily.

Nice adamantium armor. It seems you used adamantium blocks in your beacon though. I'm not worried. At this rate, by the time I get a beacon, I'll have enough iron.

I've finally done it! I got my mithril anvil! I had two mithril left over, and was at level 42, so I made a superb quality mithril sword (32,000 durability) and enchanted it with a high level enchantment, which gave the sword Sharpness 4. Unfortunately, these two actions sent me from level 42 down to level 7, so I will have to work on regaining my levels.

In other news, I have constructed a cow farm (it is 20x20 cobblestone walls for the walls, glass blocks for the ceiling). Either the glass blocks or the cobblestone walls provide the sunlight needed (idk which). The farm was built around a small plains biome pond to provide water. As long as I bonemeal the farm once in a while all 6 cows stay healthy. I've found that 3 bonemeal is enough to replenish it- 3 every minecraft week or so does the job. I kill enough skeletons each night to more than cover that. Idk why people are complaining about the cows' rate of grass consumption. In r104 at least, I haven't had any issues.

Also, I have begun exploring the nether, as I no longer need to fear losing my iron armor and sword (see the above picture of the mithril sword and you'll notice the rows of iron blocks). You'll also notice the unsmelted adamantium ore. I'd very much like to get some blaze rods. I'll be taking a break until I get my levels back up, but I need tips on finding a fortress. I've tried making a portal further away (well over 128 overworld blocks away, probably around 300 blocks away, as I could no longer see the original overworld portal) but I still emerge in the same portal in the nether. I have tried doing this with the original overworld portal lit and unlit, with the same results. Do I have to deactivate the nether one? If so, how am I to return to the overworld without dying, or will I have to suffer a death in order to try for a better portal location? If that is the case, now would be a good time, as I am only level 7. I feel like this isn't the case though.

What am I missing? Did Avernite change something to prevent people from simply creating an overworld "portal grid" in order to find a nether fortress? I wouldn't be surprised, but I've explored over 200 blocks in each direction from my portal with no sightings of a fortress. Advice would be greatly appreciated.

One final question: in the far future, whenever I finally get a beacon, can copper and silver blocks (or mithril and adamantium blocks, although I would never use those for a beacon base when they are so rare) be used for the "base" pyramid along with gold, iron, emerald, and diamond?
