TheMasterCaver posted a message on (LARGE MATH): How long it takes to get to the World border? And more! (1 billion blocks, 10 billion 1 trillion and more)Posted in: DiscussionYour math is way off because a "good" horse - and even the player's walking speed - is much faster than 3.375 blocks per second; the player walks at 4.3 blocks per second (or meters per second since one block is one meter):
NOTE: For speed measurements on any method of Transportation, all speeds are shown in SI Units. 1 m/s equals 3.28 ft/s and 1 km/h equals 0.621 MPH. It is important to remember that 1 block is 1 m3, therefore 1 m/s is equal to 1 block per second.
Walking: 4.3
Sprinting: 5.6
Horse (average): 9.675
Horse (fastest): 14.57
Elytra (continuous rocket boost): 33.5
Boat (packed ice): 40
https://minecraft.gamepedia.com/Transportation
The fastest (continuous) transportation method listed is using rockets to boost Elytra (limited by durability and/or inventory space), which averages 33.5 meters/blocks per second, while horses can achieve up to 14.57. Boats can get even faster, 40, though they require existing infrastructure in the form of packed ice.
Hence, the actual time it would take for a horse to reach the world border is only about 23.8 days; the player can walk that far in 80.75 days and with Elytra (assuming no durability and infinite rockets) would take only 10.36 days (divide these by 8 to get the Nether-equivalent time. Due to the issues mentioned above the fastest practical method in Survival would be horses on the roof of the Nether). -

GenericallyNamed posted a message on Can't see when I purchased Minecraft?Posted in: DiscussionHi, when I go to the account page to see when I purchased Minecraft, it says I've purchased it some time in 2016. Is this because I changed my Email? I got the game around May of 2012, I think a little before that. I want to see what date I got the game, is there any other way to see it?

TheMasterCaver posted a message on Why do I still play in 1.6.4?Posted in: DiscussionQuote from ZaffreAqua»
The shots in the first spoiler alone are why I despise 1.7+ terrain. Look at how much more variety there is on the surface in the shots to the left. For a game called minecraft you'd think they'd put more encouragement and emphasis on caves.
I did not mention it but another annoying thing is that Mojang could not be bothered to add in customization, either to caves or structures (which Superflat has had for years), or biomes in 1.8, although the biome changes are not really a reason why I don't like 1.7. These changes, especially to caves/structures would be very easy to implement (for caves you only have to replace a couple hard-coded values with variables, which can then be changed with sliders. Structures already have these but only Superflat can change them). Biomes would be a bit more difficult and I actually do prefer to have a bit of biome grouping, just not to the extent that 1.7 has, particularly the size and relatively few biomes in each climate zone.
For example, these are the worlds that I've made with "TheMasterCaver's World"; in my most recent world I found 31 unique biomes within a 2500x2500 block area - and after four worlds I still have not found a couple biomes I added in the first version. The version used for the last world shown added a sort of climate system which changes the frequencies of extreme "hot" and "cold" biomes:

JoQsh posted a message on Want To Make Some Good Redstone StuffPosted in: Creative ModeYou should probably start with the logic gates on the wiki, here:
http://minecraft.gamepedia.com/Tutorials/Basic_logic_gates
Try some smaller stuff first - TNT cannons, hidden stairs, etc. A fun way to get started is making a sort of puzzle map for friends, where they have to figure out how to get through a course with lots of redstone contraptions. Any kind of computer made from redstone is VERY complicated. If you really want to jump in on the deep end, you'll want to look into command blocks. They let you do a lot of things that aren't even possible with redstone, and in many cases can replace TONS of redstone circuitry with a single command.
