posted a message on 1.41 broke spawners again

I have the same issue since the latest update. Two skele and one silverfish spawners all over 100 blocks from one another just give a dispenser click, a poof of smoke and particles, and no mobs.

posted a message on Will Minecraft Last?
We'll undoubtedly be seeing a sequel and probably within the next couple of years. Adding regular content updates for free doesn't make money. Money is made from the initial purchase of the game, merchandise, and micro-transactions for things like skins and texture packs. Cheap as it is, the initial purchasing probably brings in most of the dough, with merchandise in second. Merchandising may continue for years, and only grows with the franchise, but most players are only buying the game one time, which isn't a good way to sustain a business. A sequel allows for a new feel on the same idea, and everyone making another initial purchase, new merchandising opportunities, and new micro-transactions.

With any luck, the video game industry will be seeing major changes in graphics between the long-standing polygon based rendering relied less upon for the future of atom based rendering, and the advent of virtual reality technology that are soon to be integrated with PC and major platforms. These will change the way we game forever, demanding more from developers, and offering limitless potential for a game with a style like that of Minecraft.

We'll have to wait and see what happens now that Microsoft has acquired Minecraft and Mojang. With the relentless hype of cloud computing, and pushing their Azure platform for gaming, I think Minecraft would make a fantastic pilot program.

12 year old kids who scream into the mic. All squeekers are kids but not all kids are squeekers, and of course there still are, but you hardly have to worry about that in Minecraft,

Other games aren't going to affect your RAM usage unless they're running. That said, the X One probably has to keep a good portion for other applications like party, friends, achievements and the basic OS operations that are always on, not to mention the RAM intensive services like streeming and 30 second DVR. You may have a point with the RAM, but it's not because of other games installed on your system.

posted a message on Compact Furnace

In theory, this would be a way to stack furnaces from a single source, but I'm not sure if two hoppers will work this way under a single double chest. If this does work, it shouldn't be hard to do something similar with a side input for your fuel source. I'll draw that up later unless someone can confirm that this method wouldn't work. It's hardly a compact form though...

Nice! I didn't realize you could feed coal into the side. I use the hopper on top to feed in the mats, and a hopper below to output the finished mats to a double chest. I just picked up the game a week or so ago so I had no idea these features were new to the One. I'll have to post a few of my hopper set-ups.

posted a message on More Redstone Features
It seems a little ridiculous to go so far out of the way to achieve some of the simplest things with redstone circuits. A simple feature can take up so much space that it hinders the ability to design effectively and attractively. It feels like you're always trying to find a work-around, or trying to find a way to cheat the system to get what you're trying to achieve.

For instance, instead of using a minimum of six blocks to build a flashing signal, why don't we have a one block, flashing torch? Why can't there be a simple way to stack a fluid signal vertically?

The few options we have are fine for a number of uses, but imagine what you could accomplish with a full set of redstone components.

I would like to see this, and the implication of at least *some* publicly hosted maps. If you want to keep your own world saved on your console and available when you're online, keep that option, but also give the option of a world that can be shared with friends 24/7.

posted a message on Hopper + Furnace Direction?
I've tried and failed several times trying to use a hopper to feed into the back of a furnace. Is this supposed to happen or is it something that's been overlooked by the developers? I can use the hopper on top and on the sides of the furnace, and the top, sides and back of chests, but it simply will not load into the furnace when attached to the back.
