Items sitting on the ground can and will lag your game severely, especially when there's a lot of them. Normal game play this isn't a problem typically. I play on a friend's server and we test out a lot of different mods. I don't remember the exact the mods he had installed, but one of the mods had a special magical item you could put near crops to make them grow faster. What I did not know this particular time, was the item also harvested and replanted the crops.
I set it up, logged off and went off to do my stuff for the day and came back that evening to find the server near a horrid crawl around my base. It took me several minutes to get around and find the problem, but lo and behold, piled around and in the farm were hundreds of seeds and wheat with more being produced by the minute. My FPS was 0-3 the entire time as I pain stakingly picked up every item I could. Once I had a full inventory it was a little better, but FPS didn't go back to normal until those items were picked up or despawned.
I've tried this on single player games as well, and vanilla. Too many items floating around can and will cause lag.
Is it the main problem in Jungles? Probably not, but it doesn't help at all. My best bet is it's a combination of things that come together and just KO your FPS, even on really beefy machines.
WAAAIIT!! armor deserves more colors than wool? Why can't we have custom wool colors then?
I agree. If they can do this with armor, in the same way grass is tinted, custom wool shouldn't be too hard, right? I dislike some of the normal colors we're stuck with. Some seem so faded. I'd rather mess around with custom dying it to my liking.
No. Superflat means each level is 1 kind of block so uness you make it generate an entire infinite layer of ore there isnt any. Tunnellers dream is all smooth under the dirt
Well, drat. I basically wanted a way to make a normal world, only flat with no caves. Maybe they'll tweak it some more and add other options. Thanks for answering!
Making it so that you get a random fish to put in the water instead of the default? I reckon it wouldn't be all that hard, seems like it would be a simple variable with a switch for each fish you can catch that way, I'd probably clone the fishing rod to avoid overwriting any defaults. Right now the big issue is trying to set it up so I don't need to add 200 items to the game for you to spawn them in :/
You could always limit what anyone can catch. I don't see catching a star fish very realistic. Not with a fishing pole. That would help some, but only to a certain amount. And I believe I saw that each fish (or most of them) have variations. Instead of doing an item for each, you could also do only the default for the item, though the item would still spawn random variations. That would help cut back too, but I don't know enough to say whether that would help you. Just some ideas. Either way, I'm quite happy with the mod.
I know someone did varied, random fishing. I think Pam? ((Checked, yup it was Pam.)) It was just like regular fishing but you just randomly caught other fish just like the regular minecraft fish. How hard would it be to do something like that do you think? You could either eat/cook the fish, or maybe have it act like a spawn egg when you click water, spawning the fish there. Maybe something like that? It's the only way I can think to do it, anyway.
And I'm not sure really, but maybe the odd shadows are because I used Nostalgia to downgrade. Without being able to get a hold of an actual vanilla 1.2.5 I can't confirm though. Only mods I have are Modloader and this one.
Was able to downgrade! Really, really nice though I ran into some odd bugs. The main one being rather large and dark shadows around the frogs. It's less noticeable in the water, but it's very distracting.
The fish also have these noticeable circles, but they're smaller and not as dark.
Also stumbled across this:
Looks really nice with how it sways, but is this sea grass? Or is it supposed to be on land? It also has that round darken shadow in the middle. That and it's floating in the air over top more sea grass(?).
I'll drop more pictures if I find anything odd. Otherwise, awesome mod you guys! I am hooked!
Edit: Found drift wood. Nice touch. Now we need sea shells on the beaches too. XD The little tiny jellie fish are ADORABLE! And I found a star fish! And djhfksdhfkjsdh. Loving this you guys!
I don't mind that the fish are not all blocky or minecrafty or what have you. I'm a big fish enthusiast myself, and I know just how odd and varied they can be. Especially in the ocean. I think it feels it perfect that they seem alien in this big blocky world. I can't wait to try it out when it hits 1.3.2. Sadly I forgot to back up my 1.2.5 jar. This may become one of those 'must have' mods. Can't wait!
Nice, I think I've stumbled upon an jungle island before. Didn't save the seed, unfortunately. On a bright note: this seed still works with the newest snapshot. =D

It's like a tennis match. You're just watching the ball go from one court to the other. *sigh*

I believe you should be able to use /seed, even if you aren't an OP. I think. It's worth a try, anyway, because I'd like that seed myself.
