8, 9, 10, 11... 10 is greater than 1! It's annoying how every time this version stuff comes up, people think that 1 and 10 are the same number. It's not a decimal. Decimal numbers only have one decimal point. This is a version number, which could literally be anything.Quote from grnmachine
1.7.10 = 1.7.1, so is minecraft taking a step backwards?

If you don't want anyone stealing your old name, why would you change your name in the first place?Quote from Dodge34
I just hope that when name changing becomes available, people will be forced to keep a name for at least a week or something like that and that we can keep our previous names for a long time so no one can take our previous name for at least a month
They already have this. It's called MCBans. Mojang doesn't have the authority to determine who can and cannot play since they're all paying customers. But sure, MCBans has its downsides since any server admin (which could be an immature teenager) has the ability to ban someone.Quote from Dodge34
One thing that could be awesome is a online based blacklist system that would update itself automatically to prevent griefers and banned players from joining new servers and cause havoc on them. The only downside is this blacklist must be managed by someone not from Mojang, they have better things to do than to argue with banned griefers that want to get out of the blacklist.
If name sniping was going to be a problem, it would've been a problem already. You can just go sign up for a new account with any unused name already so what is stopping them from just doing it now? I would bet that name changes are only for premium/paid accounts which have also been migrated over to a Mojang account. You might even be able to take the names from non-premium users which will completely negate the sniping issue. Non-premium users will probably try to fight back about this, but the answer will be "if you pay for the game you can keep your name"Quote from SeaWry
There is unclear information here.
Who can change names? Non premium? Or just premium?
See, if non paid users can do this, all the name sniping will happen. You will find your unique name, has been stolen and held ransom. Popular YouTubers and gamers will be #1 victims of this.
Will old inactive account names be freed based on time? This helps keep the name pool open so you don't have Player23431423412 cause all other Player name is taken and its variants are taken.
Name Sniping will be a major issue here. I feel an dark omen brewing up.
The administrator can check the server log to see what UUID Foo had when they logged on and then will probably be able to ban the UUID directly.Quote from iSluff
If I record "foo" cheating, but by the time I report it to an admin of a server he has changed his name, is there a way to ban foo still when we don't know what his new name is? -

my vote is animated. I feel like it would be really hard to build a live action set.
It's Hollywood. They can build anything! There was another live-action Minecraft movie in the works but it got shut down. This was the trailer:

Originally, maybe, but it got pushed out to 1.4 and now by the sounds of it, we won't see it until 1.5.Quote from Bunkaz94Wasn't this coming in 1.3? -

...Minecraft Forge is already THE Modding API, and there's no way Mojang will ever develop an API as good as Forge...
I haven't been following the Modding API discussion much, but my understanding was that it would replace Bukkit AND have the ability to enable and disable mods on the client-side to match what was running on the server-side. Meaning server operators would be able to run a vanilla jar file and thus update immediately instead of waiting a week for a Bukkit recommended build, etc. -

30 enchanting ??? thats like picking a candy from a child... tooooooo easy!
50 was just fine.
Quote from CalumM
was it ? , the only way to get 50 was to spend lots of time grinding at a mob system. Not exactly my idea of fun. 30 is reachable without grinding ( although maybe hard) so its more of a balanced number
You think 50 was fine? I think it was kind of ridiculous too. From the wiki:
To reach level 50, which is the amount of skill points required to purchase the highest type of enchantment, one would need to gather 4625 experience by defeating 925 hostile mobs -

the only negative thing to come from this update is wood slabs burn now which makes building a decent house with wood floors and a fireplace way more difficult than it needs to be
the system for fire needs to be change to be more realistic wood does not spontaneously burst into flames a meter away from a fire unless it is extremely hot. if they fix that it will more than make up for the change to the slabs
Wood does burst into flames if a bit of fire gets on it. That's why, just like in real life, you should put either a glass pane or metal screen (iron bars in this case) in front of the fireplace. At my IRL house, we have a metal screen that pulls shut and also glass doors that swing open. -

Yeah. I wish they would make it so there will be no need for mod updates each minecraft update. That would be just awesome
Can't wait to see what's new in 1.2.5, I hope they fixed the seed issue.
In terms of server mods, until the plugin API is built into vanilla, there is no way around updating Bukkit servers after every update since the craftbukkit.jar file actually replaces the entire minecraft_server.jar. -

Since when is multiplayer not smooth? It's only not smooth if you have either a terrible computer or a terrible internet connection and thus are super laggy.

The sieges are amazing! I couldn't survive while helping th villagers! One night, literally hundreds of zombies! Villagers need some kind of defense, and it must be really powerful.
Oh no! How do the seiges work? Do they begin at night in places where the seed says there should be an NPC village? I tore down an NPC village and I'm building an amusement park with rollercoasters there and I do NOT want zombie attacks every night. - To post a comment, please login.

Does anyone remember dial-up internet?
Does anyone remember before cell phones existed?
Does anyone remember when there were only 151 Pokémon?
Does anyone remember when kids used to play outside instead of watching TV and/or being on the computer?

Disappointed that GTA V was delayed so long that it's coming out only on XBOX360 right before XBOX One will be released, but I total need my Forza 5.

Impossible.
The average walking speed of a Minecraftian on completely flat ground is 4.7 km/h.
Use the Pythagorean theorem to get 17,000 km as the distance in blocks from 0,0 to 12m/12m.
17,000 km / 4.7kmh --> 3,617 hours --> 151 days --> almost 5 MONTHS of walking 24/7 on a superflat world
Even if he was sprinting 24/7 and didn't need to stop for any reason, it would take over 1 month, or a bit less than 3 weeks if he was flying in creative mode 24/7. The only way to get there practically is to teleport / cheat.

Unfortunately the humidity here might reach 85% today, which basically means it's going to be incredibly gross and sticky

Extremely unlikely. Most, if not all, laptop manufacturers design motherboards as inexpensive as possible to meet the spec of the specific GPU they're going to attach. This means that they don't add in extra features to make GPU swapping something that can easily be done. Even if you were able to de-solder the chip from the motherboard, there probably wouldn't be enough room for an aftermarket part that wasn't originally designed to fit. Most laptops just allow you to swap hard drives and RAM and absolutely nothing else.

This is exactly like the situation in 9/11. Most of you are too young to remember this first-hand, but almost 12 years ago, thousands of people were trapped in two burning skyscrapers. Many people chose "option #1", but I doubt any of them survived. In fact, 2,600 people in those towers died that day because they could not get out in time before the buildings collapsed from the fires.

Did you even use YouTube back then or are you just jumping on the bandwagon? Google took over YouTube almost 7 years ago
