To expand on it a bit..

The Redstone torch is an inverter. Whatever goes into it, the exact opposite comes out. Power goes in? Nothing comes out. Nothing comes in? Power goes out.

You can use it as a NOT type gate of sorts with this. By making it so the output of any function goes through the torch...that way it'll be on when the conditions in the function are not true.

For real fun, make a circle out of an odd number of torches connected by powder (apparently less than 5 gives you something unstable though). And watch the pretty light show.

Wow..my first post is to chime in here <.<

Oh well..I honestly never knew or noticed this..now I do.

But on the other end I always carry with me around 6 picks if I'm off to do some serious mining/exploring. 7 if I've made and currently have an iron pick. I use the stone picks for most work (and just have them replace the slot the old broken one was in), the iron one (or diamond on one save) is in its own slot and only gets used if I come upon an ore only it can break...or if I'm out of the stone picks and just really need to keep mining for some reason.

As for getting it fixed...we might need to ask if this is really a bug..or intentional. If its a bug we need to ask how bad it is, and/or if it staying in would be a positive thing. Remember making things easier does not necessarily mean making things better. Otherwise wouldn't be much of a game if you couldn't fail, and I am assuming something of a game is being made.

It's a small problem in my opinion..and now that I know its there I don't really overly mind it..its very easy to get around, and gives me a good reason to watch the health of my tools. To make sure I break something I don't care about when the tool is about to go. As for explanation of why it happens, the tool breaking down could just cause it to be unable to properly salvage the ore you are digging out of the rock.

If it stays we just need to make sure it makes it into any tutorial/documentation about tools.
