I ask you to check out this topic, where some ideas for Pigmen villages have been shown.

    http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/320461-the-big-pigman-thread-not-about-large-pigman/page__st__20__p__4743610__hl__"big pigman thread"__fromsearch__1#entry4743610

Way I see it, there should be two kinds of NPC. Pigmen, which farm, gather logs / wood / stone / wool and are neutral to the player, and Goblins, which kill pigs for their meat and mine and store materials.

Oh, and they need to be smaller. Say, the top of their heads goes to your shoulders. This would make Pigmen and Goblins a lot more unique.

Variety of races in villages is a great idea! Not sure about the size though. Why not small and large? :smile.gif:

I think it'll be cool, but it all needs to be really spaced out, unlike in Millenaire where there is a village everywhere you look. When you see a village or castle it should be all like "Holy crap, that's awesome" Not "oh look, another one of those thousands of villages" I'd space em out like every 1000 blocks or so :tongue.gif:

Yeah it should pretty rare and if you want to visit it, it should have a really dynamic environment like trading, rumors ("There is a lava island in the middle of the lake."), relationship building (or destroying), etc.

I was happy that they released a patch so soon. A lot of people have been complaining about the bugs so if anything this is a great PR move.

Love it. The previous one was too jagged and crude compared to the rest of the blocks. Now it's smooth and softer which fits better.

    How about bears?

Big, brown and furry with lethal black claws!
it could be 2x2x2 and be able to penetrate dirt, sand, wood and other "lighter" objects and be able to deal great damage to those that dare to fight it with a sword.
Maybe it could drop something really valuable and usefull, it would have to be a rare mob though since it would be a horrible neighbour.

I love this idea. It could charge once it sees you.

Also another vote for a water mob.

    An underground map.
A lodestone that pulls in other ores.
More gemstones like sapphire and tourmaline that have unique properties for crafting.
An announced ore that you discover on your own.

This is not pointless because there are so many ways to play Minecraft. He/she is building the most efficient way to create Cacti. It's almost like playing a bean counting or resource management game. On top of it, he/she built a beautiful temple around it. It's brilliant and one of the great possibilities of playing Minecraft.

Thanks so much for the beautiful pack! I was a bit confused as I couldn't find the pack in the list menu but this helped:

"Simply download them and place the .zip file as-is into the texturepacks folder."

Interesting! I'm open to it for sure. Perhaps not as a standard block but one could craft it?

In my experience this is definitely true. It's not YOUR game.

In the history of MC, has Notch ever created ores without making an announcement so that everyone found it by happenstance? A discovery like that as a player would truly create wonderment in a game.

I would love to see more gemstones like sapphire, ruby, tourmaline, opals. It would be good enough to be only for decorative purposes but what would really make them interesting is if they had properties that people have long believed they have such as healing, scrying, and other mystical or practical properties.

Another one is lodestone. It would be found at or just below the surface (so says Wikipedia) and have magnetic properties. Or say you are mining and come across a small batch of iron ore. You mine it and in the center block is a lodestone. Magnets would give a new mechanical contraption without modernizing the setting too much like pistons do.

posted a message on (history) How did players find out about crafting, etc.?
    Hello Minecraft noob here,

I recently started playing and I was curious about what it was like in the early versions. Did Notch tell the players how to craft and what to look for? Was there a Minepedia so that players like myself can look up how to do things?

On one hand, it would be great to find new blocks, crafts, mobs without knowing but on the other hand, the resources have helped me get started.
